Benito is something special. Can't deny that... But it's more like Tati's is the Benny of the Padres back then. Coming from a Dodgers fan, nobody played like Benny, except for Pudge. But what do you expect when they are both from Puerto Rico.
Benny Jr. Ur pop's was and is my idol. I'm 48 years old and became a catcher in my freshman year in highschool. I emulated ur dad by throwing from my knees to every base. I graduated from high school in 1992 from East Kentwood in grand rapids Michigan and I played against Derek Jeter who was from Kalamazoo Michigan.
I met ur pops at marlins spring training when he joined fla inaugural year. I even wore the diamond gold cross earring and wore number 9. 09 to be correct because ur father said if I just wear 9 they can't see it on my back with the strap from chest protector. I hope u reach back out to me because I'm the biggest supporter then and now of ur father and I!
I still cry to this day watching ur pop's be mvp in 2002 vs braves and have the world series right f-ing there for him with dusty Baker and giants vs prick angel's. We had that fuckin series! Sorry for my swearing
I had mini package of season tickets (Pops paid for them) in 86-89, watching him throw runners out from his knees, his hitting streak his rookie year, watching him change his number from 9 to 09, good times. Great time to be a kid in San Diego.
Talk about a forgotten legend Santiago was So Dope Got His career back on track with My REDS I was bummed when they let Him go to the Giants But…. Obviously He got more $ & Years Like Kevin Mitchell had a really nice comeback year with The REDS
