Just bought one of these yesterday. Took forever it seemed like to figure out the hitting the muzzle part to break the barrel open. Definitely a heavy pistol, almost all metal and very accurate as you have shown and said.

I have had this pistol for several months now and find it is a lot of fun on my 29' range in my living room. The only thing i do not like about it is the trigger is absolute garbage, with a capital G. If you want to shoot on tuesday you start pulling the trigger the previous saturday. It starts very hard, then creeps about an 1/8th inch (real) then it is a chatterbox for a short time and finally a slow grind to release. The pistol is very quiet and accurate enough to cover groups with a dime.

Did you losen the trigger screw? Once you do that it lightens up the first stage. It's still a 6lb trigger. I am going to tear into it soon and see if I can lighten the pull.

Think you might have got a lemon or I might've lucked out the trigger online is beautiful but I've had it for quite a while now and do regular maintenance maybe I got lucky that sucks that you got a shit one with playing the trigger maybe there's a way you can take it apart and tighten it up I seen somebody doing this in videos with other air pistols like the Diana 22 co2 pistol with a few little tweaks he was getting from 500 feet per second out-of-the-box to almost 900 with 22 pistol that's freaking insane I don't know how to do all that fine-tuning but if you're good at that maybe check out some of those videos but that Diana pistol is on Amazon for $99 and it's a complete monster you can also buy the rifle kit that has an extended barrel and a suppressor and stock for like $49 more I think it's 149 that's one hell of a steel and it is absolutely silent

It's good and Beefy great gun accurate, tried cocking it once without the extension that was enough for me I just leave the thing on now wish they had just made it out of metal and made it nonremovable. Glad you finally did a review thanks

My dog cornered a Rat in my garage. I bought a Gamo break barrel. Killed 2 large adult rats, 4 smaller rats, and one blind mouse in 2 days. Hadn't seen a Rat in 4 days. Traps are still baited with no success. So I thought it was all over but nope. Returned home from work tonight. Found a hole in the corner of my front door. As I was eating I noticed a Rat by my front door watching me eat. Long story short my Gamo .22 shot through the rat and my door. Your excellent advice helped with my rifle and pellet purchases. So here I am looking for a pellet pistol. Thanks again....

I have had mine for 3 months now and I really love it. My only criticism is the picatinny rail at the bottom is absolutely useless. Won't fit a laser sight because there's not enough room to cock the break-barrel all the way. I love the dependability and accuracy. Picked up mine from Big 5 for $110. Trigger is great for me. Again.. don't put a picatinny rail on if we can't use it. What do you think about converting the extension into a suppressor? Seems quite doable.

Here's an FYI there's one old trick use the end of a headphone jack the big one and then put that into the cup of your pellet and turn it around you smooth out that edge before you stick it into your air rifle you will have more consistency with your lead pellets this way and if you have a AAA Battery laying around put that pellet Cup on top of that nipple on the AAA battery and then push that into your pellet gun it will seat perfectly all the way around evenly these two items can be bought online for about $100 or you could just use the cheap method which we all been using for almost 50 years

@@AirgunDetectives All good here, thank you for asking. Hope all is well there also. Still have not opened up my Virtus. Decided to just shoot it as long as it holds pressure without leaks. I did add a shim to the regulator for a slight increase of tve output pressure - but the groups still remain that 2-3" at a 30 meter range. When finally a leak comes - then I'll open it up and start seeing what I'd possibky could do to it. Thinking of at least give the inner barrel a new tip and crown, since it does not look that high-precision made in the first place. Not sure - but as if the bore of the inner barrel might seem a wee bit oversized.. The cylindrical rear of a 5.5mm drill bit seemed to have quite a wiggle in there - so the 5.5mm caliber does not seem to be that accurate. Surely a 5.5mm drill bit might be 5.45 (or in that ballpark) in actual size when measured with a caliper.. But still remainikg to wait for a good reason to open it up. It has otherwise worked way good. No real issues whatsoever. The groups shot from a clamped rest just bums me out slightly..

I hesitate, however, to use it for small pest control (squirrels/chipmunks/mice coming in for the winter). I’m wondering if it would be better to get the Hatsan Mod 25 in the .22 cal spring piston for a more sure/humane kill? I saw you reviewed the .177 gas piston version, but do you have a video in the archives on the .22? I definitely want a break barrel pistol for this task, so I don’t have to worry about external air. A pistol platform also makes it easier to grab and less unwieldy than pulling out a rifle when I see a chipmunk scurrying toward my soffits! I would appreciate your take on this gun vs the .22 Hatsan for this task. Thanks again!

Agree , I hated these break barrel trigger pound , the foot pound is a bit lower then I would like , for pest like mice it would be ok , but squirrels might be pushing it . Otherwise targets plinking is ideal , “if” you can get that trigger down to 2-3 pound

I figured out the trigger today. Mine now breaks at 3lbs. It has a nice and light first stage then goes up against a nice 3 lbs. wall. I also polished all the contact points on the components, that's much more involved. It's not overly complicated but you definitely need some mechanical abilities. There are 3 total springs in the trigger assembly, the trick is removing the front trigger spring. Not to be confused with the separate safety spring. I may put a video together and show the process.

I wonder, when IS Benjamin go8ing to do something with those triggers! My 'Trail' has a trigger that's a stiff as if it were mounted in asphalt. I like how this Mark II shoots, I am impressed with this!

Hi Reg, Unfortunately many of the lower priced air guns just don't provide great triggers. This is a heavy trigger but very manageable.
@AirgunDetectives
@AirgunDetectives 3 года назад
Reg, I figured out the trigger today. I may put a video together and show the process.

Just purchased one per your review. Mine seems to suffer from serious barrel droop. The rear sight is cranked up pretty high in the back. When I mounted a read dot, I ran out of adjustment. I know utg sells a droop rail, but from other images to include yours, it doesn't seem to have as much droop issue. Other than that it shoots well. Any suggestions?

Thank you for the video. I am on my 3rd pistol (Benjamin Trail NP Mark II) I believe that I just got bad luck with this one. Crosman just sent me the replacement Pistol. I just tested it yesterday and today and the average FPS that I am getting with Crosman Premier HP 7.4 Grain Pellets is 419 FPS. With H&N Field Target Trophy Green 5.56 Grain I am getting an average of 492.4 FPS. I like this gun and I want to make it work the way that it was intended. I believe that I have a a defective piston seal. Could you tell me where to get a good performing replacement seals for this pistol?

@AirgunDetectives
@AirgunDetectives 2 года назад
Each pistol may handle pellets differently. I would start by testing the inexpensive Crosman Premier Hollow points. 7.9 gr. Accuracy is the key. You want a pellet in-between 7.0 to a mid 8 gr. Crows are actually pretty smart. You can even shoot around them and they'll leave. Do that for a few days and they won't come black. Happy Shooting 👍

Rail is useless without an offset adapter. Blocks cocking when accessories are mounted directly. Gun is heavy and heavy duty. Granted, trigger pull is about a week long, but, is manageable with practice. Cocking aid is mandatory in my world. Have read reviews that it affects point of impact, doesn't seem to on either one of mine. I bolted mine to the gun, doesn't come loose, doesn't get lost, aggressive cocking has no affect. Interesting chrony results. Overall, great review. Now, fabricate a solid carbine stock adapter, and you'll be a hero!
