JC thank you, I like your videos very much. They are full of actul, and valuable information. I hate this rifle, until I watched your video. I know now, there is hope with my Benjamin rifle. I purchased this rifle in Costa Rica four year ago. Benjamin Trail XL 725. Caliber .25. Made in China by Crosman. It is expensive here $450. I liked it immediately, big, powerful, nitro piston rifle, with thumbhole stock, and my favorite break barrel caliber, the.25 Looking for the best accuaracy for my Benjamin, I put it on my best airgun scope ( Leupold Vari X 3x9x33m EFR) I shoot it for weeks with 14 different .25 cal pellets( JSB, H&N, Polymag, Air Arms, Benjamin, Eunjin and many others good pellets) at 35 yards, and I never could get a decent group. All groups were 4, 5,6,7 inches and biggers groups. Total disappointment, the best group ( the only) was the Field target trophy pellet 19.91 gr from H&N, 1.5 inches. I absolutely hate the factory stock trigger pull, very heavy, almost six pounds. It is the WORST trigger of the world. In comparation with my rekord triggers from my Beeman R-1 and R-9 rifles. I decided to sell the Benjamin immediately, but for a strange reason I didn't. I liked the rifle, the nitro piston works perfect, and is not difficult to cock it, besides this is a powerful rifle. I put it in a box and keep it, in the garage. I think maybe some day I will find the solution for this rifle. And for you JC, finally I found the reason, upgrade the Benjamin and get this incedible Grt-3 trigger. ( one pound four onces) the trigger pull from your .177 Benjamin. It is my dream trigger. Thank you very much JC

Javier, Charlie Da Tuna still sells the GRT-III triggers. You can also do a minor Trigger mod yourself with a small racer bearing. Not as good as the GRT-II but you can make a great improvement. I appreciate you tuning in and thanks for sharing your experience.

This gun tends to get a lot of "Meh" reviews. People say it's over priced, and it turned me off from them for a while. Upon doing more research, I've discovered that, while it lacks features and is heavy, it's also accurate and high quality. And as someone who primarily shoots firearms, not air guns, accuracy and quality tend to be ATROCIOUS in the airgun world, and people just accept it for some reason (you can buy a single shot 22 lr that'll last 200 years and shoot 1 inch groups at 100 yards for $150)
@Critical-Defense

I feel the same comparing firearms to airguns. It’s amazing to me that an airgun will cost $1000 and be nothing but problems and a 10/22 is $300 and will outlive my grandchildren. I don’t get it. I spent quite some time with airguns and just got fed up with it, moved back to firearms. I have this Benjamin in the video and I got it for a decent price, but if someone offered me a 10/22 trade I’d bite.

@@Critical-Defense The artillery hold bothers me to. Like there’s a reason we don’t shoot regular guns like that, and you’re telling me that any other hold will clobber my accuracy? I didn’t end up getting any airgun when I was looking a few months ago, every gun I found had some annoying negative. I might just get another single shot 22, they kinda scratch the same itch and you can actually hit things with them lol

@@mcnuggatron2129 Right. I caught the bug a year or two ago and picked up a Benjamin Marauder and Benjamin Armada, outfitted both with all Hill Airgun parts (high end expensive parts) and a regulator, bought a Hatsan Blitz (the full auto PCP), Gauntlet 2, Hatsan 95 piston air rifle, all in .25 cal. Then 2 x Benjamin Trail NP pistols in .177. Hill Airgun suppressors, a couple DonnyFL suppressors. A compressor and hand pump. Thousands and thousands on air rifles and I think I have 2 of them functioning currently. I rarely shoot them anymore because something is always causing a stoppage. Air guns have a long way to go to catch up to firearm quality. I told myself and my dad the entire time I was buying them that they are all complete garbage.

Thanks for reviewing a "springer" and a pretty good shooting springer at that. Seems like springers are becoming the "black powder" of the commercial airgun world with everyone's wanting them new fangled PCP ( smokeless cartridge equivalent ) irons. I shoot BPCR and Musket and of course prefer springers. Got a couple of co2s, pistol and rifle, but, without the recoil it's almost like playing a video game and springers give me an experience closer to using a powder burner than co2 or probably PCP does. I hope springers will still be there in the future and that manufacturers don't abandon them completely.
@AirgunDetectives
@AirgunDetectives 2 года назад
Without a doubt the springers are more of a challenge to shoot but in my opinion, a "fun" challenge! You also don't have to worry about an outside air source which is always a bonus. The airgun community is in a PCP avalanche right now, but when the dust clears the breakbarrels will still be there..Happy Shooting 👍

Amazing accuracy... I got to say I'm jealous. I have the 22 caliber version and it's been nothing but a disappointment in the accuracy department even after a lot of effort tuning by skilled professionals, and a new ctd trigger that's fantastic. The pros that worked on that rifle for me were just as frustrated with it as I was. The power level is fantastic however and I keep it around for whacking the occasional raccoon that tries to eat my chickens and ducks. honestly at this point I'm leaning towards the hatsan bull boss in 25 caliber or perhaps 22 due to its amazing accuracy power and multiple shot capability for dealing with multiple critters going after my pets and livestock at night.
@AirgunDetectives
@AirgunDetectives 2 года назад
I have a review coming out on that Bull Boss next month. As far as the Benjamin, I assume you tested many different pellets? You should think about ordering another barrel for your rifle. It sounds like you have a bad one. You can call Crosman direct and order it. It will probably be less expensive than you think.

JC, sir.. will those Rex scopes handle magnum recoil from an air rifle? How are you only getting about 101 Db when you’re breaking the sound barrier? Hmm. Cool Rifle and I like what you did with the stock. It has a hint of green to it (on my screen anyway) and it’s unique. May I ask if you have any upcoming PCPs that you will be reviewing? You see a Gamo Arrow coming out soon and it sounds and looks promising for the price point. I’ve always had good luck with Gamo and I love their stocks so I will be buying two of them. .177 and .22.
@AirgunDetectives
@AirgunDetectives 2 года назад
Hey Chris, the diameter of the object breaking the sound barrier is also a factor with the sound level The good thing is the lighter pellet do not perform in this rifle, so 10 plus grains are the answer. That makes is back yard friendly. As far as PCP's, I will review that Arrow as soon as they come out. I am on the list. 👍 I forgot to respond to your Rex Scope question? They are not recommended for a breakbarrel. That being said I put it on the Crosman DPMS m4 breakbarrel and I have about 100 shots through it and it is still holding zero. But again, they are not recommended for the breakbarrels.

@@AirgunDetectives Awesome. I will be very much looking forward to seeing your review on the Gamo Arrow. They have always been accurate and reliable guns so it should be good! @AirgunDetectives
@AirgunDetectives 2 года назад
@@chrisreilly4006 I understood you..I was just pointing out that the smaller the object breaking the sound barrier the quieter it is. Those .177 7.0 gr pellets are really small, maybe that's the reason, although it appears loud when your shooting it 😉

I bought it in 5.5 mm/35J energy and it's brutal! But I am slightly disapointed by how badly it is designed (compared to our older Czech made airguns), there are some plastic pieces (which is ok in these days), but trigger is very far from grip, so it's not that comfortable for smaller person, and it's really really hard to cock it, it's more like some crosbow than airgun, it's not such problem for me to actually draw it, but problem is that it's very hard to even open barrel (there is no button, you must hit it) and when you cocking it, it's very hard already from start, so you just can't do that by left hand while still normaly holding it like I am used to. And that's what I meant by it's not that well designed as our older airguns. Our older airguns made in Czechia or Czechoslovakia before, when you open barrel, it goes almost without resistance at the start, so you can open it slightly to move barrel more close to you and then draw it very comfortably, this is not possible with these modern airguns at all, I gave it to my father to try it and he was barely able to draw it, but he is weak. From your vieo it looks like it's very easy, but maybe your airgun is slightly different than 2022 version for our market, who knows and I have .22 cal, so maybe it has stronger nitro piston. This airgun is insanely long, but most of that lenght is just piston area, barrel starts like kilometr from you that you can barely grab it while cocking it, it's just too far for your left hand, they should do more bullpup design for such powerfull airguns, this is more like some old muzzleloader gun, it's insanely long with most of mass in front of you, so it's really hard to manipulate with that and hold it for longer time. Another thing I don't like (and most of modern airguns have it) is safety in front of trigger, the idea that I am doing something with my finger there when I don't want to fire is just weird, bizare and not safe for me, also, it doesn't have automatic safety, which some people hate, but I think it's actually pretty important on breaking airgun, especially when you give that weapon to your friend or kid, it's not problem for actuall gunpowerder guns where you aim in front of you all the time, but this is airgun and you are breaking it and manipulate with that in various ways, I would probably keep automatic safety there just to be sure it's safe. At least trigger is not that sensitive, so you won't fire by accidentaly touching it, which would be really bad on airgun which has safety next to trigger. Our breaking barrel airguns made in Czech Republic look much better when you look at metal parts, it's real engineering, not "chinese engineering" like other airguns, but sadly, it's not sold anymore since like 2016, they have too much work with real guns that they have no capacity for making airguns anymore. My older Slavia 634 made in 2014 is weak (like 13J), but it's superior quality compared to modern airguns and 2014 is one of the last pieces made and people say that they were worse than older. But what I really love about this airgun is wide 22 mm weaver rail (like on real guns) which is welded directly to body, so it can't move or pop off like on other airguns. Classic 11mm mount is useless for more powerfull airguns with recoil, that's problem on our older Slavia 634 airguns, they didn't really count with scope even when rail is actually there. This Crosman/Benjamin is like let's say M1 garand, it's big and heavy, but when you fire from that, it's very satisfying, while our old slavia airguns are like some .22 LR rifle, very easy to operate and light, but when you fire, it's not that satisfying. I hope this airgun will be safe, because that spring/gas piston is ridiculously strong and I can't imagine how can some piece of metal hold such power. What more I don't like is that when you once draw it, you can't realese it without firing it becuase trigger is blocked when barrel is not in ready to fire position, it's like that on most of modern airguns, there are probably some safety features which doesn't allow you to release spring without firing it, but on our old airguns, it's possible and it's a good feature, I use it a lot when I clean and oil my airgun that I draw it and release it few times without need to actually fire it.

We can finally buy these unlimited airguns in Czech Republic without gun licence, I am thinking abou this 35J Crosman, it looks great. I am not sure what ammo use to this, I had previously older Slavia 634 and I had to buy 0.87g light pellets, I guess that will be to light for this, we have some 1.6 and 2.2g "monster" pellets on our market, so that will be problably better, if you understand metrish. There is plenty of unlimited airguns on market now, but I like this exact shape of stock, I am small and most of airguns have too massive grip for me when it has classic rifle stock.

@@AirgunDetectives Some people think that it's a mistake that they forgot to writte 16J limit into new weapon law, so we have to buying it before they will change it again. 😀 But it's a good experiment, people who were against were constantly saying that there will be wild west, but nothing really happend, I don't hear about any terrorist attacks done with some 100J PCB air gun. 😀 I am surprised that Germans didn't complain about our new weapon law yet, they are always like "we stopped a Czech car full of weapons" and in reality there were 2 paralyzers and defense gas or something. 😀

It could be done. You would need to figure out a front post. The breach would be fine since you have a picatinny rail. Thanks for tuning in.👍

I like what you did with the stock , which stain did you use? nice shooting. Your claim that this was one of the first magnums is a little bogus prior to the birth of the BT the mexicans the russians the germans and the brits had several mag springers starting around 1970 and running onto to 1990 I can think of about a dozen without breaking into a sweat. Sorry I just got to say after that attractive refinish on the stock you went and screwed a bipod to it ????? they are of limited use in the field and less functional than a sand bag for bench rest, they do pose a gun well for a photo about the best I can say for them. I bought a gun with one already fitted to it years ago, got in the way drove me mad and I sold it, the bipod that is, there was nothing wrong with the gun

Trail nitro piston xl ...320.00 bucks, good guns shot one' but never onwed one tho' in a .22 or 25 cal it will bring down coyotes, foxes, bobcats skunk's kinda bigger sized game ez, magnum gas piston sealed pistons not like Hatsan vortex thos are junk, they quit working at aroud 4000 rounds exzactly 3 different models did' in 2 model 125, 135 Hatsan guns (don't buy one of thos), This problem occured because the vortex is not a sealed gas piston' it vibrates a screw loose in the back of the piston there and leaked the gas out' vortex gas piston is a recall 'failed component' now if the Hatsan got a spring piston in it, thos Hatsan's are ok' why they put screw there' idk .. but this air gun in this video is different it's a crossman trail regular old fully sealed gas ram' Np2...also Hatsan are heck to work on to many components jamed into the triggers everything, vs I can swap in a new piston in a crossman nitro in 1 hr or less, iv rebuilt a few np1 guns ...it's not to bad one seal one o ring one new gas piston' the difference is a stage 1 nitro piston is like 16 to 21 foot-pounds of energy, that's 600 fps in .22 and 900 fps in .177 this guns are cheap and great guns shoot thousands and thousands of rounds ya' they range around 100 to 150 bucks. ...are theses guns worth the money ?" yes' they last forever litturly' and you can leave them cocked forever hurts nothing' unless you shoot 250 rounds everyday like' good for pest control anything' and quiet they stay right under sub sonic velocity... except in 17 cal those can break 1400 fps in the Np2. I would take off the suppression system and allumen barrol shroud ya" put on a rubber grip on the end of the barrel or something' "because" if a round hits the internals of that shroud it breaks em' plastic baffles no good' then the next time you break it over' to load it' the whole barrel shroud slips off' it's just on there with plastic thread's, then the barrel backlashes breaking the gun, slapping you out cold in the face' saw it happen before twice'. "this problem occured because a piece if tissue or cleaning cloth got stuck in the suppression system, the the got was shot off, this caused the round to bounce sideways when fired' breaking the internals of the shroud. The youth can't cock none of them' no it takes 45-50 pounds of energy load one of them' but other than that one barrel modification theses Benjamin Trails with the nitro stage 2 are just amazing performance and power wise' After you break them in ya get' .177 cal 7.9g 1050 fps. 25 fpe .22 14.3g 850 fps. 29 fpe .25 20g lite 750 fps. 33 fpe... "The Secret trick to getting the scope's not to slide in the rings" ahh that one... brazing, take a file or a razor nife to the inside of the rings and cut lines or squares in them, half a mm thick whatever, then do same to were the scope mounts touch the scope", I'm saying carve groves or lines on the scope as well yes, crazy but yes works, then tork all the bolts tight, same on scope mount bace nuts youse alot tork,,,same concept of a bicycle handlebar mount ya' everything made out of allumen thesesdays is why, so when the scope goes to slide it seat's itself in the rings" you want try get one with picitany rail, but the dove tail mount I can do thos to but its different trick tho', if you have a dovetail the scope may slide on the rail anyways, thos pen sheer off after 5000 rounds on the dove tail no don't use them,,,my scope's don't slide from the hevy reverse recoil from the piston guns at all and that's why'" brazing allumen'' so alot accuracy issues with pistons and the scopes need be a (utg bug buster)" or rated for torcher, ...so if your scope won't stay set on target ya that's why' The triggers are fine To6 grade five pound pull... ish'

To this day one of my fav guns ( 40 years of airgunning and a $20,000+ collection of stock and fully modified guns)...that said let's see what's left of that scope after 500 shots....all those magnum break barrel guns are scope killers...really wish one of the manufacturers would put some effort into building us a real magnum air gun scopes...it cant be that hard....and before all the arm chair coaches start sending me messages...I have tried almost all of them..cheap and expensive....name brand and knock off....I have thousands of dollars worth of trashed scopes...my advice...go with lower powered break barrels and get a little more life out of scopes.

First off...I couldn't agree more. I really like these XL rifles. This last summer, I fully tuned a .25 caliber, and it is outstanding. I stack pellets at 25 yards. Plus, well over 30 FPE. I still need to do a review on this one. Also, I have been working on a new style Scope mount that will save these scopes from the heavy recoil. My prototype should be ready for testing soon. Hopefully, I'll have something ready to go by the end of the year. I appreciate you tuning in and thank you for leaving comments. Happy Shooting!👍🏻😉

@@AirgunDetectives I would like to say thank you for response...I will keep my eye out for your mount...I have 9 break barrel guns I have fully modified in every way possible...some for accuracy some just to see what can be done...(.177 with custom gas ram/seals I've got 1500fps with alloy no problem)...the best tuned gun I have is the trail np (composite black .22)...I've done everything to that gun...shoots polymags like a tack driver out to 60yards...(950fps)...no scope has lasted more than 500 shots...bullseye mount saved the scope but wouldn't hold zero ...dampa mount did nothing...can't wait to see what you come up with...
