@@juandoe4934 You wouldn't even have to be hardcore! HE had a considerable speaking part. Not like he was incospicuous either! Is there a shortage of Italians?
Vito, the only dude who was ever approached by someone saying the boss needs to see him in person right now, and did the intelligent thing and ran away.
Well Vito was avoiding phone calls from Sil cause he already suspected word reached out to Tony about him dancing in a gay bar. Having 3 guys approach him in an intimidating fashion like they were following him is pretty unusual considering they are all soldiers and Vito was a capo so this was out of line. As far as Vito was concern they were there to eliminate him.
Fun fact: When Vito is driving away, you can see the guy in a tracksuit slips and gets his foot run over by a car. You can later see him limping a bit. That wasn't in the script, he actually got his foot run over
“Vito this is your cardiologist, I’ve been trying to reach you for days, listen, you MUST stop taking that blood pressure medication immediately, we have reason to believe you have taken a tainted batch..”
@@justt1984 I made a mistake and didn’t read it properly I apologise to the person who commented the benny thing, but no need to call me an idiot why couldn’t you just be polite with your correction.
I really think AJ would years later try to figure out who had his father killed and then go try try to kill them. Probably fail spectacularly like he did trying to kill Junior but he’d try. He had breaking points that would lead him to snap and likely become dangerous. Benny not so much, even taking orders to do violent mob stuff he’s still not frightening.
Size has definitely never been a factor in the mob. If I remember correctly, Meyer Lansky, Toto Riina, and Carlo Gambino weren't taller than 165 cm. The shorter guys tend to have more brains, kinda like Patsy who was 162 cm. What made Benny so special was despite being short, he always went physical. A brute. Admittedly it was never usually in his favour, at least on-screen. But he definitely had his fair share of blood and bones under his belt to work for the family.
@GipsyKings Puro but we are human and we do panic and if you work for a non gay friendly org and it is found that out that you were “ pitching not catching “ ?
When Benny says “fuck you doin’?” It sounds so similar to when Sal caught him in the club and asked him the same thing. Must have been trauma for Vito hearing those words. Benny is an awesome character
I think both groups probably could have handled that a little smoother and gotten away with what they were trying to get away with. At that time anyway. Not too slick to show up all menacingly three deep like that, not like Vito couldn't do the math there.
@@Tkieron They couldn't force him to ride with them yet, he was their superior after all. They were feeling him out. Once he took off like that, they knew he was hiding something.
He was still the Capo and their boss. They were feeling him out. Had he come in and it got sorted they would have been in serious shit if they had mishandled him. Also, Tony wouldn't appreciate one his Capos being hurt ke killed by his crew. Vito running away was the best situation for everyone but he tried coming back...
Vito was still a captain at that point , they couldn’t force him to do anything really. If he would have went in it would have been his word vs the guy why saw him and Vito is a made man so he would have won but he would have been on borrowed time
They were supposed to bring him in to find out if the rumors were true. Since he sped off in his car, they knew that the rumors were almost certainly true. At that point they still wanted to bring him in, but it wasn't as urgent because they knew the truth now.
Fun fact: Benny grabs a rock with his left hand then the next frame is him grabbing a rock with his right. Most likely because they cut after seeing the tracksuit Guido getting his foot run over.
Fun fact: Vito Spatifore was in a rush to leave this scene as he was on his way to meet and greet, take photos and try sell Sopranos merchandise from the trunk of his car at the end of a scheduled Sopranos tour !
@@worsethanhitlerpt.2539 another fun fact: David Chase never took anyone else ideas for the show. Joseph Ganascoli (Vito) heard the story of the New Jersey Mob boss, which was similar to the demise of Vito spatifore. He bought this idea to David Chase. This was the only idea David Chase ever took. They integrated this into Vito's character. It was his idea !
@@kidkully I thought Tony made him after Phil put him in the hospital? He said he was going to at least when he went to visit him. But he forgot the Whitman’s
It's hard for someone my age to look at Benny and take him seriously as a tough guy. I can still hear that squeaky voice of Doogie Howser's goofy best friend, "Vinnie".
Vito was not actually lying - a road construction worker found Vito's phone on the side of a road, you know, the telephone tough guy talking back at Tony?
Another funny thing is that same dude with the tracksuit runs into Vito after Vito comes back from being on the lam ,gets a $20,000 loan from Vito which he never got to pay back.
Later on when the news of Vitos death hit the family, one guy remarked, "I wish I'd borrowed money from Vito", and that tracksuit guy who was in the room cooking started laughing. Didn't know there was more to it with him than just the joke.
