I take my rotors off so I don’t have that problem 😂

Never ran any disk guards on any bikes, even though I’m a newb and get myself into tons of hard enduro type situations where I crash a lot. Only bent one front rotor. Just to put it in perspective, I’ve dented my pipe over a dozen times on this same bike, and actually wore through a Carbon Fiber pipe guard from falling on rocks so much. I’m glad that bikes aren’t sold with this stuff stock, keeping the price lower. Many places in the country you barely even need a skid plate.

There was no reason to replace that all you needed was a crescent wrench find the middle of the bend place the crescent wrench with the jaws clenched down on that spot and slightly bend the opposite way of the bend. Easy fix not worth buying a new rotor. The shark fin on the other hand would be worth it

@clark4131

Why not just flex it back? I understand it's on a loaner bike, but if it were on your own, why not just flex it back with a crescent wrench? Ideally a replacement is preferred, but at close to $60+ a pop, it doesn't really fall into the realm of "disposable" parts, especially if you include new brake pads. Thoughts?

I have one, even living in sandy Florida. After a ride I noticed the guard was bent. Not sure what I hit, but glad it's there.

I’ve used Devol Engineering rear rotor guard and radiator guards since 1998. Best protection from all off road riding on rocks, roots and junk left in trails here in Mississippi.

Rotor guards on both ends is a must for me. I don't carry a tool beefy enough to straighten a brake disk with me. Getting stuck in the sticks with a locked up wheel would suck.

I am using ptech rear disc guard on my rr 300 2015... When I was buying it I thought it might be useless for me, but after few months that guard is all scratched and beaten up, so it has already saved a few brake rotors... But I think I can get away without using one, but there are few móde I can not ride a bike without. On the first place is a set of proper full wrap around handguards and secondly pipe guard witch a skid plate in one...

Why would you put a plastic guard on the front rotor, rather than an aluminium one like on the rear rotor? Thanks.

Gotta have one in the rear for sure. Just the rocks and logs the front wheel kicks up can do a lot of damage alone

Even a basic tusk disc gaurd is essential. I have noticed dings and dents on the guard that I am sure would have destroyed many a rotor. ☺

I run with Scott's shark fins, but I changed the type of oil I run same time as I installed the shark fin, and no more dinged rear rotors, so the right oil can maybe help too. 😁 I have dinged my front rotor(no guard) twice riding Mary Ellen glitch in AmFam pushing way to hard in the rocks. Bottom of my fork tubes take some hits too, they need a guard as well. Love the Beta content, Beta working with you makes them look good too.

Yeah it really doesn't take much to ding those rotors it's just the hazards of riding dirt bikes for sure I'm really enjoying your testing of this Beta even though I'm a KTM 350 guy but my next bike will be a Husky 300 for sure gotta have that linkage on my next bike I've always been a PDS now linkage rider but going to try something different for sure!

Take that sucker in the technical - it will handle it. Would be perfect if Beta sent you the 50 tooth rear vs the 48 stock rear and it will never flame out. Thank you for the video series. I will use those parts links.

Don't run one here in Florida. I have run the plastic front rotor covers and I don't think they would do anything to protect your rotor from a rock. Maybe in MX they keep peoples feet out of the rotor/wheel some? I took it off after a while. Couldn't see it was doing much of anything for me.
@Crazystuffyousee

Why dont all the bike manufactures use floating rotors for this exact reason? Some use front floating rotors but no one uses floating rear rotors. Seems like floating rotors would be a better option for damage.

It’s tempting to purchase a cheep Chinese (soft) disk guard, fight the temptation and purchase a verifiable aircraft aluminum component. You’ll be $ ahead in the long run and preserve an Americans job.

I have a rear guard ( I’ve felt it being hit hard a few times) Also a front guard. It doesn’t get hit that much but for the hard enduro riding we do it gives me peace of mind to know that I won’t destroy it. Which would have happened some time already. Judging by the deep scratches on it. I use enduro engenering guards. Like your vids from Namibia.
