"Amend" in Amendment means to change, ya know. I think the founding fathers would be dumbfounded by smart phones and nuclear weapons, as well. The Electoral College is antiquated, and the founding fathers feared mob rule when the vast majority of the country were illiterate farmers not metropolitan. A popular vote is the best methodology for a modern democracy, and it's obvious. Lastly, a popular vote is non-discriminatory against left or right, Democrat or Republican. For instance, if I were a conservative in California or New York, I'd want my vote to count.
