"Oh, Chtuluh? Yea, he's a bit of a rascal, likes to scare and invade dreams for a bit. Not to worry, he's currently on a three millenia timeout after causing a mass suicide on a remote colony that took weeks to reverse. Medinanites are fast, but synaptic recovery *and* restructuring to the point that that colony would continue without repeating the same selfinflicted annihilation... AND wiping all records from their systems, that was a bit too much of a hassle. He's deserved the dunce cap.

Seems like a type 6 or 7 civilization en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kardashev_scale The rest of the galaxy should thank their stars they aren't hostile and only had to deal with a mistake. They could take over the rest of the galaxy easily but with that kind of power must feel they don't need to.

I love the missing the Forrest for the trees on this one. Of yeah being able to stabilise a self synchronous consciousness without a physical substrate medium is pretty end game but polities? Oh you dirty dogs you didn't... always wanted to try it myself, it's a trip at the very least. Ah well past tense for a reason, I suppose next would be to give perpetuality a try. Also sup transhumanists! Shame there never seems to be a proper social conglomerate of you guys with some fiction themed excuse, people could do with understanding what a personality death is.

Very heavy Blame! vibes going on, love it. Glad to see the inspiration of Tsutomu Nihei seep into one of my other favourite sci-fi genres. To clarify, the ability of "beings" able to "upload" themselves into "base reality" is something "things" can do in the manga series, i can higly reccomend it, PewDiePie made a video about it calling it his favourite manga if that helps to persuade you to check it out.
