Either of these would be my personal go to drink if I’m in a pub where the Guinness wouldn’t be great. Moretti has become very popular in Dublin. You could go into places now and it looks as though it’s the 2nd most ordered pint after Guinness. Has a distinctive glass with a stem on it. Paulaner & Erdinger are probably the most popular German beers.
Moretti is not Italian beer any more, its made in Britian. Peroni is still made in Italy so its no contest regardless of taste. Having said that Moretti tastes nothing like it did when it was imported.
How about the big 2 German wheat beers: Erdinger v Paulaner would be a challenging blind test (bottles, please). And yeah, Moretti is the better Italian beer, good one lads!
Well... now you will need to same guy to taste test the new Birra Moretti with a hint of salt versus the original. Birra Moretti Sale Di Mare on sale now...and I would also like some samples where I live well they are at it. Thanks!
theres a weird thing with the peroni we get, its actually a different beer to italy. in italy, you have Peroni in red bottles, and Nastro Azzuro in green bottles. the peroni we get is actually nastro, and thats why the label says peroni nastro azzuro. its a marketing thing i think
Just to be fair, the two you should have compared are the Moretti and the standard Peroni, not the Nastro Azzurro Peroni which is very light and (in my opinion) lacking of taste ;)
I agree, is confusing that many call the Nastro Azurro as Peroni just because outside Italy is distributed under the name Peroni Nastro Azurro and only that version Is the same mess as the Mercks
Be wary of Euro lagers brewed 'under license' in the UK... they taste shite compared to what you get when in Europe. Moretti is one that suffers from UK standards (chemically forced brewing), and the difference in belgian Stella is particularly noticeable.. the Belgian one far superior by a long way. Tyskie (Polish).. the one brewed in UK (available in Tesco/Asda... 5%) is nasty stuff.. tastes metallic and gives a headache.. the imported 5.2% (usually corner shop) tastes much better and doesn't give you a chemically induced migraine... I have already done a lot of trial and error testing on your behalf.. ;-)
@@telephonic look up Reinheitsgebot, now think.. if the Germans have set the benchmark, other EU countries trying to sell into Germany need to be damn good.. so they standardise to meet German standards. In the UK, for some reason, brewers do not have to state their ingredients in full... which means that much like bread production, they can bung in a load of chemicals which are not classed as ingredients but as 'manufacturing agents'. These chemical agents would include stuff to speed up the yeast, kill the yeast at a certain point, sterilising the input water in industrial areas like cities, improve shelf life, etc.. the whole idea is to turn water into gold asap, without paying storage fees for basic maturity.. Budweiser even making a selling point of their lager being 'fresh'.. aaaarggghhhh! Trust me on this... after finding that I could get sweet on brand 'a 5% and get up in the morning no prob, but brand 'b 5%' gave me a searing headache every time... I thought I'd look into it. Have also worked in the food industry so there's stuff I already know about label declarations.. :-/ Update: Tesco now stocking brewed and canned in Netherlands.. b^_^, also Asda stocking Zubr.. that's another clean one.. ;-)
Amazing how the get away with it. Heineken are a huge piss take with that stuff they serve up from Manchester to the pubs and some cans and bottles. Then we've got Welsh Stella! Wow it's like it's been rushed out, just weird and unrefined, loads of corn taste. The Belgium imports are alright even though they've changed over the years, pick some up now and then from a decent off license, enjoyable and smooth. I don't touch Morreti for the same reason. I think Peroni is a solid imported light lager when brought in crates, it's boxed so won't be skunked. But ultimately it plays second fiddle to the real Budweiser Budvar made in the Czech Republic, now that is a drink with a good backstory, also Pilsner Urquell, the original and daddy of all Pilsners. I don't think we'll see these get destroyed by going under license any time soon. krombacher pils ain't that bad too, all available in UK supermarkets. Pretty nuts in all honesty the crap they churn out and us Brits lap it up for 50p a bottle lol.
@@darrelw6246 fair enough fella enjoy! I'm just keeping on with Budvar, Urquell, Krombacher, Paulaner. All available between Tesco and Asda. Bloody love em all! I think even kegs of Morreti are still Scottish sent they?
Blah, Can't stand Peroni. Not a big fan of adjunct lagers in general and the corn in Peroni is extremely noticeable. It's there in Moretti too, but more restrained.
Soryy to say but both are pretty shit. If I'll have to chose one beer before I die and is between these two, I'll go for Peroni...you know, nothing to be sorry about after 🤣🤣
