If anyone is curious how the results came out by using adjusted AV... 1. 2004 San Diego Chargers 2. 2006 New Orleans Saints 3. 2012 Seattle Seahawks 4. 1997 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 5. 2001 San Diego Chargers 6. 2006 Cincinnati Bengals 7. 2004 Arizona Cardinals 8. 2005 Dallas Cowboys 9. 2008 Atlanta Falcons 10. 1995 New England Patriots And I also did some calculations to adjust for draft class strength. That ranking came out to... 1. 2006 New Orleans Saints 2. 2012 Seattle Seahawks 3. 2004 San Diego Chargers 4. 1997 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 5. 2008 Atlanta Falcons 6. 2004 Arizona Cardinals 7. 2005 Dallas Cowboys 8. 2007 San Francisco 49ers 9. 1996 Baltimore Ravens 10. 2006 Cincinnati Bengals
One that’s almost a guarentee to make this list eventually is the 2017 saints Ryan Ramczyk Has made a all pro. Marshan Lattimore,Alvin Kamara, And Trey Hendrickson have made 2 pro bowls each with Kamara having 5 and Lattimore having 4,Marcus Williams,Alex Aznalone,And Al Quadin Muhammad are all starters
I generally like the ranking system, but I would get rid of SB rings as a category, as they have too little to do with an individual draft class' value. I would also make each year as a starter worth 2 points, and each year on a roster as 1 point. Drafting a guy in the 7th round who ends up being a 7yr backup is a GREAT, high-value pick that doesn't show up in the ranking system.
@@henrymorris6831 Half of first team all pro would probably be ideal for second teamers (shoutout to C.J. Moseley who has five of those but no first teams). Also fun fact about all-pro selections: Over the years there have been only eight teams (out of over 200 total) with no all pro selections (first or second team) by the Associated Press who made it to the conference championship game or later: 1970 Colts 1975 Cowboys 1983 49ers 1996 Jaguars 2001 Patriots 2003 Eagles 2007 Giants and the 2022 Bengals
A better criteria than Super Bowl rings could be a bonus for the number of times this player started on a top quartile unit of their side of the ball for offensive or defensive players (so a starter on an offense or defense that ranks at least eighth by points could count more).
Great video! I love seeing you branch out to the NFL. When you feel like doing something different but want to stick to baseball, may I suggest something like the best non-MLB seasons or careers in history. Give you an opportunity to talk about guys like Sadaharu Oh, Wald Balentine, or more recently Munetaka Murakami. Or even the guys who hit .400 in the minors or something. Good stuff, keep up the great work.
You know what makes the Ravens 1996 draft even better? In 1995 when the Jets picked Kyle Brady, Belichick really wanted him and was crushed when the Jets took him. Seeing no one else that he liked, he traded back in the first round with the 49ers and got their first round pick in 1996. That first round pick became Ray Lewis. In short: the Jets drafting Kyle Brady gave the Bucs Warren Sapp, the Ravens Ray Lewis and created 2 of the best defenses ever.
Did an incredible double-take when I saw the thumbnail, thought "Huh, that reminds me of BND's thumbnails" and then looked at the channel only to find it WAS. Great vid, wouldn't mind seeing more football content from you as this was very well produced. (Also I think I'd love seeing a three-hour Antonio Brown errrm... _overview_ at some point lol)
Ur literally the best channel on youtube brother lets go I promise u will explode this content is so well done and edited and concise and informative and jus so unmatched man ur a phenom
When people evaluate drafts, I don’t understand why they consider success a player had on another team, like the al Harris pick for the buccaneers. If a player is helping another team and the other team did not get trade compensation, why is that considered?
When I did my baseball drafts video, I made multiple rankings to account for this. It made the video bloated and confusing. Decided to keep it simple. You can also go into the rabbit hole of if they were traded, then evaluate who they were traded for and add to the draft value... but it gets really confusing and convoluted. However you do a ranking, it's going to have downsides. That's one of the downsides here.
2017 saints will probably rise up this list with: Marshon lattimore 4x pb Ryan ramczyk 1x ap Alvin kamara 5x pb Trey hendrickson 2x pb All still playing
I mean, I get what you did, but in the end draft classes should be graded on how they performed for the team that drafted them. Sure they made lemonade somewhere else, but when it doesn't affect the team that drafted them then you're really just picking out the best players and we've already got a HOF for that. Still the list is good, it clearly showed how a team's "division dynasty" started and had continued success based on those drafted.
The research for this had to be painstaking, I know you’re thorough. Do you think Antonio Brown has totally ruined his opportunity to be voted into the Hall of Fame? Lol
@@BaseballsNotDead Nice. You're a really quality channel and I enjoy your content even though I don't watch sports anymore. Keep it up, bro. Just please don't join with Jomboy and nosedive like others.
Ive been on RU-vid for over 15 years, and the PREVIOUS INTRO was the best intro ive seen of any channel... Dont know why I liked it so much since it was SUUUPER SIMPLE... But he changed it now 🥹😢... And there Was One before the Previous One too, but like this New One, its not the same
The Steelers one is actually very intresting becuase pouncy is kinda an odd player. He’s kinda the Derek jeter can’t field of football. He benefited massively from expectation. Why is he a good center becuase Pittsburgh drafts great o-line man. Therefore he won a lot of media voted awards becuase who the fuck watches o-line? But as we got more analytics his legacy has become a bit more murky. Often times it’s a bit less dire as some of them say but other equally valuable centers on less high profile teams finally got their dues. There is a really solid chance he’s not a potential hofer if he even played 2 years later. We can debate how accurate those analytics are when it comes to his performance but I think it’s undeniable that many of the voters for the awards you listed are significantly more informed now than they were.
24:01 “if you want to be really pedantic” No, people only say that if they want to be liars. The Browns are an expansion team and the Ravens are the former Browns, no two ways about it. I know what the wording used in the relocation was, and I know what the current NFL history says but they’re wrong. Being on the same team as a legendary player doesn’t mean that your team currently has the same name as their team. It means to me that you replaced the person who replaced them and on and on, further back until you reach that legend. Pretending that the expansion team has the same history as the actual Browns is a complete farce that’s only perpetuated by Browns expansion team fans who want to have something happy in their team’s history. Sadly that’s just not the truth.
yeah i think your metrics are severely damaged by the hall of fame imbalance. i feel like you should check players that are going to the hall inevitably and maybe given them even 5 or 7 or 10 pts idk. it just feels imbalanced
@@masonnewbould1172 I know I'm crazy to want to give constructive criticism for a channel I enjoy without complaining or causing a big stink of it. I can see where my post was confusing and caused you distress as this is the internet so I should have at least threatened to unsubscribe or something...
No he didn't. He said he was coming out of retirement to play for the Ravens but the Ravens haven't signed him. It might be added to the list of weird things he's done.
