My head canon guess is he chickened out but Killinger supported his decision as long he knew it was what HE really wanted in his heart and it taught a valuable lesson to the thief. Then Mr. killinger probably killed the guy on his own when he left.

Hey, one of the first steps required to betterment of the self is acknowledgement of ones own shortcomings. Anyone who truly requires his help would do best to understand themselves a fool, so that they do not let pride get in the way of his teachings.
If you think of it observing or ever so slightly influencing an inferior being's endeavors is one of the few possible ways a being as powerful as Killinger could still appreciate life. Or it's just Killinger existing for the purpose of using his godhood to help people find their way, and thus it's natural he enjoys doing so.
My guess is that Red Death was so traumatized by the Movie Night incident, that he fell into darkness, stinkin' thinkin', and dilly-dallying. Not unlike Rusty. Difference is that Red followed through to become a Supervillain, again. Not just a supervillain, but probably the most well-adjusted villain in the guild.

Killinger has to be one of my most favorite characters in fiction. He's just so genuine in everything he does. While not an open book he never tries to hide his intentions and any ulterior motives he may have are never malevolent. He's a true homage and in some ways an improvement to Mary Poppins. Anyone who wants to be a Big Brother, Big Sister, life coach or counselor should look to him as an example.

Well I wouldn't say that, Rick and Morty is pretty funny it's just that like when it acts serious there's not too much of a great build up or pay off like how Venture Bros excels in you know? Maybe we'll get something in the fifth season but you know I dunno.
He seems to be a person of Chaotic Neutral variety. Neither good nor evil, but can see the world for what it is, and is trying to upset the status quo by getting people to break out of their mediocrity and achieve a higher greatness. The dude just seems to be thinking on a higher level.
Id argue he's more lawful neutral. As we see he does have a code he follows and refuses to deviate from. If not lawful evil as he brings out the best in those on their road to villainy.
The fact that they somehow made Dr. Henry Kissinger, Secretary of State under Presidents Nixon and Ford, into this lovable teddybear of a man with Mary Poppins tendencies is just frankly the best thing ever.

The reason Killinger denied the Monarch a seat on the council was because Monarch was of greater use to the Guild as a field arch. The Monarch arched not for a Guild insurance package or a weekend hobby, but because he truly and passionately hated his nemesis. He knew what it meant to be a proper costumed villain, and needed to act as an inspiration for all future villains, a new standard of true evil that tomorrow's arch should hold themselves to. It's no accident that Monarch was the first Guild member to receive a Tenning under the new Council.
One of the stipulations of being on the Council was to give up Arching forever, Killinger knew that The Monarch would never be able to do that and would ultimately ruin everything in the new Council if he was involved
It also says a lot that the reformed Council consists as a result of people who WANT to be there. Sheila turns out to be a shockingly good administrator who understands and respects the institution, Phantom Limb ultimately is actually satisfied when he gets the prestige and power he strove for, and Red Death is looking for a retirement position where he can slow down but still contribute. The Monarch definitely would have ended up turning down the position like Wide Wale ended up doing (with no hard feelings, remarkably) because he's more interested in the game itself, not the institution that facilitates it.
It's just occurred to me now thay Killenger has only ever acted selfishly once and even then he offers healing in doing so. When he's trying to make venture a villain against his brother, its because JJ is under contract with the investors. So while he does want to help Rusty become his best self, like he did with the monarch(ironically the monarch has come leaps and bounds as a villain after Killenger even with his fall from grace), Killenger also wants to stop lips, skiron, and caecius from their malice deals.
@Rico Santiago oh most certainly. Killenger probably didn't want to be the one to resort to killing his own brothers but had to in the end. Too much blood had been shed
I love that in a series thats all about failure, he adds much needed hope and levity to the bleak listlessness of the shows over all message while it still being unclear if he is a good guy or a bad guy when all is said and done.....something we might never get to find out
@@antoniorojascortez135 Yeah, sadly. They announced it last fall I think. Season 8 was being worked on at the time. I'm hoping we eventually get to see it. You never know. Shows have been cancelled and returned before.

(of the Southwest, Northeast, and Northwest respectively) Notably there's actually dispute over whether Eurus is the East Wind or the Southeast, as in some versions he and Apeliotes are in the other's place.)
True chaotic neutral and OP as all hell with it, takes out the *Investors* with the utmost precision, makes Dr Orpheus look like a party magician in comparison.
And Dr. Orpheus is the Venture Bros universe equivalent of Sorcerer Supreme. His master, who is a transcendent entity with godlike abilities stated that Orpheus was his best and brightest student, though he's a bit socially inept because he neglected his life outside of that. That probably means Killinger is an entity like his master or stronger.
@@Gotz_the_iron_hand it seems that so far (and now forever it seems given how little time left the story has with just a movie to close the whole thing) those two are and will remain the most powerful beings in the Ventures Bros universe, one might say it is almost impressive that Doc Venture rejected the plans such being had for him.

this man is likely the most powerful being in the show. What does he do? Helps everyone possible. Who needs help most? Mentally unstable men in spandex. Excellent role model all around. Caring, thoughtful, honorable, and stoic. No need to make a hussy fussy to get things done.
"You must become fat choice" love that I love how Killinger is this pretty much all powerful beeing, and unlike using his powers like his brothers to get money and power using people he chooses to help people with his powers.
My theory is that - given his godlike nature - Killinger is something like a director of a play. He has no intention to be onstage, he just wants to help the actors be where they need to be. He'll make the villains better villains, the heroes better heroes, and anyone he comes across able to express themselves more openly. I think in the case of Doc Venture, he helped him see inside himself, and helped him see that what was inside of him wasn't something he wanted.

No matter what profession someone has, all Killinger wants is for his targets to be the best version of themselves they can be. Evil, good, neutral? It does not matter. What matters is moving forward and loving yourself.
Making Kissinger into a killer demon from hell with quirks is actually perfect. The only thing is that the actual Kissinger is much more of a monster lol.
For all the crap that Killinger’s real life counterpart got away with, I think we can all agree that Killinger is the only good thing that came out of it.
Killinger is the therapist and the friend everyone needs. A bit scary at first, but once you get to know him and his magic murder bag, he actually just genuinely wants to see you succeed.

Not only are they a fun way to revisit our favorite characters, your selection of scenes is also well curated. :) This feels like a sign, I was thinking about what to write for my paper in 19th Century European History and I think I will take inspiration from Kissinger and write about politics and the legitimacy of government.
What's great about him is how he simply wants the best for everyone he meets. He's aware people will self sabotage, and accepts them still. He just takes the good that has grown, and uses it to do more.
Need Dr Killinger in my life. Pretty sure I'm a master of self sabotage. Had an important flight to catch early morning, like 18 months ago. What did I do? Stay up all night drinking. Flew across the us, helped a family member pack their whole house, and drove the truck back across the country on like 5 hours of sleep in 72 hours. Pretty sure I'm addicted to stress lol
I love how different he is from his brothers that he doesn’t pick sides or influence evil he helps everyone be the best they can be like the venture brothers,and even helped doc venture get over traumatic childhood (despite him trying to make him a villain)
It should be on a respect list that Orpheus was powerful enough to understand that Killinger was a Cosmic entity and had the guts to try and figure out what he was.
Most op character of the show. Wish they did more with him like back story or what his ultimate plans are. He oversees or sets up almost everything in the show. To me it makes sense because they good guys are way higher scales than the bad guys. When you have Hunter Brock shoreleave the cleaner molotav etc among other op characters and for the bad guys the best they have is phantom limb who's kinda washed up and red death who's old and almost retired, it makes sense that killinger is a whole other level to balance it all out.
@@elykspuz6596 the sovereign wasn't the real David Bowie, just a shapeshifter at the head of the council of 13. He was shot and killed while transformed as a bird. Didn't have any other powers. Like most political figures, he was useless.
Has I see it his whole purpose is to guide people to become their fullest potential, he just in the evil realm but he himself is not evil. His job is just that nothing else, he even helped 24 out because his job is just to force you to become more. It also why he had to put his brothers down because they where doing the opposite of their job and ruining peoples life's for greed and fun.
He's a horrific Eldritch being but i still think he may be one of the nicer characters on the show, he doesn't do anything for his own schemes, he just wants to help people.
