@@TheAwesomeDarkNinja Is not that simple, actually. They would have needed to make at least twice the teams they were already making and the game was already too big as it was, they wouldn't have had time and there wouldn't have been enough space.
@@DayneGodwin I mean, it speeds up the process of level grinding. Taking longer to gain a level is not good difficulty balance, all it is is an annoyance. Difficulty should be achieved by other mediums, like making the AI more competent or giving it better teams.
That was awesome, but over time I was really worried about all that friction with the stylus damaging the screen of the DS. Other than that it was fantastic.
I honestly really was disappointed in the removal of the auto-run button from HGSS that was amazing and really made it so you didn't have to wear out the b button.
Mega evolutions were my favorite feature and got me back into the series. I like that it gave old mons new strength to make them better. I hope they come back in gen 9 and stay a permanent feature.
Personally I find most added gimmicks to suck. Mega's and Dynamax make the games they are in, a cake walk. And Z-Moves are basically a juiced up attack and nothing more. 2 of them pretty much break the game while the 3rd is basically only useful as a 1 hit K.O you can only use once.
@@tobymacdonald5893 the “no superior region” excuse was so forced. Yes, I do expect the next GAME to have everything the last one did, plus new features, we normal people call it progression, and then, when you eventually make a remake, we hope to see the REGION reimagined with all the bells and whistles that had been added up until that point, Sinnoh with different seasonal looks for example. All they are doing is making people fall in love with regions not for their design, but because of the gimmick they had. GameFreak is such a lazy company smh…
Mega Evolutions, Z-Moves, Dynamax, they are more than just special game features, they have connections on the world of Pokemon's lore. There is a reason why some regions have them, and others do not.
Give Gen 6 flak for its lack of difficulty all you want, but its bottom screen features were EASILY the best utility features we have ever had in any Pokemon game. The multiplayer interface was amazing, the soccer minigame was the most fun I ever had EV training and Pokemon-amie was way better than Refresh.
Yeah, as much as I enjoy giving gen 6 a hard time, that bottom screen was magic man. The PSS is still the best way to experince online in Pokemon, I never used the soccer minigame cause I don't EV train but the positivity towards it is nothing to scoff at and Pokemon Amie had som pretty sweet minigames along with petting and feeding your Pokemon.
Easily the best way to experience Pokémon online. Communicating with other trainers had never been easier. Everything flowed perfectly and felt nice to navigate. And if I remember correctly in ORAS the bottom screen also told you when you found all of the Pokémon in a route. Imo the best part of Gen 6.
I really liked the rustling grass feature in gen 5. I know this feature kind of returned, we kept things like ambush encounters and stuff, but it wasn't implemented nearly as interestingly as it was back in Unova. It really felt like you had a real opportunity to discover something interesting when you saw that dust cloud or rippling water.

I hate those fuckers with a passion, especially considering where they are located (the number of breeder that were located at a section where you had to pass through and battle them every single time (sorry I forgot the english names of the locations, but there's one just at the exit of the bridge hamlet and one at the desert entrance and I hate these two with a burning passion
One thing that always irked me was how they treated Mega Evolution. In Gen 6, it was something awesome (an extra-strong new form built up with bonds between Pokemon and Trainer) and built up as such throughout the game... and then the _immediate_ generation after, its backstory is changed so that it's flat-out stated to be a terrible thing that literally drives its users insane while killing them slowly and painfully (not unlike Guts' Berserker Armour from _Berserk),_ and then it's unceremoniously removed from the series entirely before we even got to see ones that would've benefited from having a really cool Mega Form (Milotic, Lapras or the Gen 2 starters, for example) while replacing it with basically the same thing (Gigamax). Bring them back!
@@Liberaaiytb i personally never liked megas, and after using them in Alpha Saphire that didn't improve. (They made the game way too easy) But I definitely wouldn't change the lore to be something so, disrespectful of them. Just drop the feature and state game balance or say nothing like the million other dropped or changed features that don't have stated reasons. (The lore could be as simple as no megastones exist in this region or pull an alternative timeline the way ORAS states that their timelime with megas is a different timeline from the original RSE timeline) Tldr; even if you hate a feature you shouldn't change its lore from "litterally the power of friendship™" to "it's suicide with extra steps". (Especially in a child friendly franchise like pokemon)
And not only that, they replaced it by using what is essentally an eldtritch power (max energy is lovecrafts color out of space) from an entity that wants to destroy the planet, with a gimmick so bad in universe that the box legendaries dedicated there own lives to killing max Pokemon. Say what you will about yvaltal but he didn’t strictly go after killing only mega Pokemon, he was indiscriminate. But galar’s gimmick was such an obviously evil thing that the lands guardians wanted it dead.
Streamlining evolutions in Gen 8 was one of the best things they've ever done, and I hope they keep doing that for those trade + held item evolutions, by making them at least held + level up
@@jackmisha2598 unique methods for new mons within the gen are fine if you ask me, so long as they get streamlined afterwards (hoping Galarian Yamask becomes a Dusk Stone evolution later). I feel like that’s definitely gonna be the case with Legends Arceus; give the new evolutions their own methods and then make them Ancient Power evolutions in the games that take place in modern day.
Lmao surprised you didn't mention Battle Frontier. Others already said it but swapping location based evos to stone based was definitely a positive change in my book and I hope they keep that up with other frustrating evo methods. I guess technically a feature that was removed post gen 2 but put back in gen 8 was ball crafting? Probably meant to be a regional feature but I miss making/having all the different Pokeballs. Gen 8 also removed the "power ups" we got in gens 5-7 like ones that improve catch rates and the like.
I think we’ll probably get the Battle Frontier in BDSP, because it’s not just something fans have been asking for since Gen VI at the earliest, but because one of the Unova Elite Four doesn’t work as well without the Battle Castle being a thing.
I preferred the location based evo's instead of the now evolution stone evo's. It gave some locations that the game kinda glossed over some more importance.
@@flo4255 I prefer location-based evolution myself, but it never made much sense to me that the mossy rock could evolve pokémon a leaf stone couldn’t, and Sun and Moon _horribly_ botched the placement of the evolution locations, so I’m okay with evolutionary stones being an alternate catalyst for them. Having both allows for the areas to still have the added significance while neatly avoiding a repeat of the Vikavolt Incident.
To be fair, about Gold/Silver... Iwata himself had to step in and help with the game's programming, in order to cram the Kanto sections of the game into Gold/Silver... so 6 to 9 more sprites probably was an impossible task. They barley were able to squeeze in all of the game in the first place.
@@thenerdbeast7375 Except the unused safari zone is in the game's internal files and can be accessed by hacking. It wasn't cut because there was "no more room", it was cut because they couldn't finish it.

Another thing I'd say Gen 8 got rid of was obstacles that required HMs to get past. I know they changed how they worked in gen 7, but they still had boulders to smash, rocks to push, and the weird bumpy rocks you couldn't walk on for some reason... I hadn't noticed until my last play through but in Gen 8 there is none of that. I think it really heightens the feeling of the routes being boring straight lines to the next town.
@@polygondeath2361 Yeah I agree. Them making Compy way more accessible was great, but the rest feels really bare bones. Some of the characters are fun, but they don't really do much with them.
I really like the Dex Nav from ORAS. Also Mega's in general, although that would have been a mess with dynamaxing, so I definitely understand why that got removed.
Some Megas have stats that are only comparable to pseudo-legendaries so it shouldn't be a problem for many of them - having only a Mega Stone which is useless after transforming also nerfs their power.
I'd say that the best gen 5 feature removed in gen 6, apart from the best Dowsing Machine, is the Habitat List. Incredibly useful, I'm actually sad that the Pokémon randomizers can't modify said feature yet or that no one has created a way or tool/program to modify it. Though it did come back in OR/AS in a different way, but it should be in every game for how useful it is.
Victory Road isn’t even in Generation 8. So that’s disappointing too because Victory Road is one of the best areas in Pokémon because it’s a maze to traverse the Cave of Victory Road before facing the Pokémon League.
Reintroduced safari zone please since it’s good for exploration and home to rare pokemons. And no, friend safari isn’t a safari zone, because it’s just a smaller version of safari zone and safari zone is way bigger than friend safari and more open for exploration.
@@castform7 Lucario is currently NU Borderline so it definitely needs the mega. Gengar and Alakazam are UUBL. Really, their megas were to keep them solidly upper tier as power creep is a female Stoutland (and Gengar lost its immunity to Earthquake in Gen 7, so it really needs the extra power and speed now). The real question is why Mewtwo of all Pokemon needed TWO of them.
You get Bulbasuar from a lady in a house when Pikachu has max friendship value, Charamander from a trainer outside a certain route and Squirtle from the Police officer outside Lt. Surges gym in the game, after you beat him up and get a gym badge, I believe.
The thing I miss most from old Pokémon games is rematching regular trainers. After I beat the game, I like to go back to Pokémon I caught, but didn’t take to the elite four and then level them up like I did with the others. If I can’t rematch trainers, I would have to rely on wild encounters with their lower exp yields, so I don’t really do that anymore.
In defense of the day/night cycle being removed in gen 3 it was likely due to the fact that the gameboy advanced lacked a back lit screen. If you look at the gba’s library of games you’ll notice that most of them have very bright colors in their artsyle and sprite work RSE being no exception which was done to make the games easier to see on such a dark screen. They likely didn’t bother with the feature simply because it would’ve made the game even harder to see at night

@@JoshusBarber The problem is the eeveelution being post game mon's. Stone evolution are the most uninteresting evolution methode along with level up imo
I do agree. These location based evolutions are cool for the games they‘ve been introduced with, but should be changed in the next generation. These locations are meant to be memorable and give a bit of flavor to the region itself as well. If you think of Leafeon and Glaceon you should think of the moss and ice stones in Sinnoh; It gives these Pokemon this identity of belonging to Sinnoh. It loses it‘s identity when every region following Sinnoh has a place, where you can evolve these Pokemon. It doesn‘t make the landscape of Sinnoh as cool or unique anymore. The only reason to make location based evolutions is, to make these Pokemon more intertwined with the landscape of the region itself. I don‘t see a point to to implement a location in every following game, which intertwines with this Pokemon as well as a location in the region it originates from. Why do you even do location based evolutions, if you can find these locations in like every region?
It is pretty funny that megaevolutions were looked down upon when first introduced but it also grew on a lot of people. Including me. It gave a new life to many old pokemon or pokemon that were not usable. Plus it had okay lore. With Z moves, most moves are not really worth sacrificing the item slot. Can't say much about dynamaxing cause I have never played Sword and Shield, I am one of those whose passion for pokemon died after seeing where the games were heading. Really wish that they gave the developers more time to work on the pokemon games to create the best product that they could be proud of.
Nintendo has their own reasons as to why they make the games the way that they do. It could also be related to the technical problems that they are having behind the scenes of the games development like it was trying to program pokemon gold and silver. They wanted to remake Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire as faithful as possible to the original game. By the way, you are probably missing TM Sludge Bomb in the game. They already gave their warning inside of Ruby and Sapphire about exactly what the player base would be doing surrounding the issue. I think that they actually wanted to the idea about the other flying pokemon in the game, but they probably jotted down to the idea to be used at a later time for another game. Deoyss would not even be inside of the game to be captured, if someone did not make a particular comment way back when Nintendo was doing the tours around the US in certain cities handing out the Aurora Ticket for Fire Red and Leaf Green. They did infact handout the Aurora Ticket for Emerald, but only for 1 day. Thankfully I found someone on Ebay selling the custom cartridge for Aurora Ticket for Emerald. He is not doing it anymore since it likely took out a lot of the credit to even be able to have it to sell in the first place. I found offered by the seller shortly after I found the footage on RU-vid explaining exactly when and where Nintendo was handing out the Aurora Ticket for Emerald for a day only.
While the concept idea for Megas was "what if pokémon could evolve another time" (which is something literally any player had fantasized) z moves and dynamax only give out the feeling of "What if we made a new gimmick for this gen?".
GTS makes sense being in home, it means you dont have to spend money on Switch online while the free version of home exists, and you get full national dex functionality. It isnt very hard to defend that decision, it’s simply impractical to exist in SwSh.
Counterpoint, listing a GTS trade now takes significantly longer as you have to transfer between 2 devices and have to install an external app. Sure, in Home, it is free to do so without giving Nintendo money, but that doesn't mean the GTS (A core feature at this point) should have been cut from the main game. The decision is pretty much indefensible.
@@Taenarius no not really it doesn’t take that long, you dont install the app every time you make a process and a transfer doesn’t actually take that long, it literally makes no sense to have to worry about a GTS function in every game when it would be better for the consumer to have it in an app you have more freedom with.
@@CabbageYippee You can't just say you have more freedom, especially when that statement isn't true. Fundamentally the GTS feature is the same as the one introduced in gen 4, pick a pokemon, ask for a pokemon and a level range and you're done. It would have been the same in the game, save the premium slots, that I must stress cost extra money. It is better for the consumer for it to be in both the game and the app, to say anything otherwise is apologism. Home isn't terrible, the ability to trade away from the switch is nice, but it should not be required.
Wow, you made me realize what it was, that I didn't like in Sun and Moon. There where all those little features I loved in Gen 6 that went missing just one game later. This in combination with all those unskippable cut-scenes and characters you can only either like or hate and (at least in my opinion) just overall missed "feel" of the region made it hard for me to appriciate Alola in the first couple of runs. I only recently come to like the games a bit more, mostly by realizing how big of a Pokémon choice there is in the beginning. Still very flawed games, though.
Kalos has to be the worst one. Yeah yeah, "Dexit", I know but Kalos took away so much good stuff. The music changing depending on the circumstance, the different gym themes, seasons. Just a lot of quality of game stuff stripped away.
For me, Kalos marks the point where GF tried to relegate most of their world building to story and dialogue rather than features and exploration. It’s less of a fleshed out world which is a shame because the region itself is gorgeous. It could have been one of the best ever.
I'd argue before Galar, Hoenn was the worst offender. The original Dexit, no Day/Night and the subtle changes that came with them, no Ditto making breeding far more restricted, you only get one box legendary, practically no postgame in Ruby and Sapphire, and your rival is a joke of a challenge who doesn't even fully evolve their starter. There are actually fewer Pokemon available to catch in Ruby or Sapphire than Gold or Silver. The time system in Johto and its events made it feel like a world that's going about its business in spite of what you're up to, while Hoenn just feels stagnant and unchanging. This is the point where they started focusing far more on story, which this series is seldom good at, instead of gameplay which is normally its strength.
Kalos is the best generation ever! Just Mega evolution crashes to ash anything that Gen 5 tried to make good. Gen 6 made me enjoy Pokémon again after I drop the franchise because of Unova.
I will say it did give things like active backgrounds that give items when you use a particular attack, PSS, Amie, and I guess 3D models, although I agree those weren't utilized well.
seasons were a garbage mechanic. seriously whoever had the idea to lock content behind potentially needing to wait for nine months, woke up that morning and chose violence.
I definitely miss the secret bases feature, and Hoenn's a lot more than Sinnoh's. It's just cool to traverse across the map and find those little areas in either obvious or obscure places where you can have your own little place to call home and to decorate as you see fit. Then after you've connected to the internet, figure out where other's have made their secret bases and travel to them, see how they've constructed their secret base, and even battle them.
What ever happened to the VS Seeker Item? Im so confused why its not a thing anymore? Means you can go back and rebattle trainers. Pretty sure in some games, when you use the Vs Seeker to rebattle trainers, some of the trainers had actually gotten stronger.
I will never understand game freak. You’d think after 30 years they’d be able to take the best part of every gen and put it into a single awesome game. Sometimes it feels like they’re going backwards.
@@neotono5536 crazy considering Pokemon is the highest grossing IP on the planet right now. You'd think spending a little more money to hire more staff or extend the games development would be no problem for them. The only thing they really removed in Gen 4 was a good game corner. D/P wasn't really slot machine-like, it depended on a ball on the bottom screen or not (yes, luck, but doesn't feel like actual gambling). The music was pretty dope tho.
Gen 4 was actually everything that Nintendo could put in at the time of release, they included making the Membership Pass accessible to used by action replay. They made sure for a fact that the player could get both orbs before even starting the game without fighting any trainers with the wall through walls cheat code. They explained that was intended to be used by single children or people who cannot afford both games. They then mentioned to male sure that you turn off the cheat code and then play the game normally until you encounter your game legendary. They did not mention anything about how using other cheat codes will affect affect the legitimacy of the items. Although they did immediately remedy the situation with encountering Munchlax on trees as soon as possible, since they were fully aware if his existence. They just did not put into the game with the reason being something related waiting for the game to get remade or something like that. Nintendo fully gave an explanation as why exactly they did what they did.
Weird, why is nobody mentioning B2/W2 Shortcut list feature (where you could mark any and all menus and Key Items and could be accessed by pressing "Y")? That streamlined playthrough's a lot and made accessing anything not only easier but faster too!.

As a bit of a counter argurment to your overworld sprites arguement for Johto, those games are a miracle to begin with. They managed to fit all of the kanto and johto onto a single gameboy cartridge, so storage was at its absolute limit. As well as the fact that those games are held together by duct tape and a dream anyway.
Top 3 best features that got removed (For really no good reason) 1. Challenge mode(We will surely miss you) 2. Following pokemon(Sword and Shield + BDSP do not and should not count under any metric) 3. Certain shiny hunting methods(Chain Fishing, Pokéradar, SOS chains) The franchise would be better if they innovated consistently while maintaining the greatness of the features they introduced.
Honestly I still think Megas were a good thing to be removed. They were a good idea but honestly done horribly because they only gave them to the already good Pokémon and not the ones that needed it
Honestly I really enjoy Dyna/Gigantimax over Z-Moves and Megas. I know it's controversial but I view them as a happy medium between the 2. Instead of a single use (Z-Move) that provide a single buff. And 3 turns Instead of the full time (mega) and give either buffs/debuffs to you or your opponent. I feel like it could've been improved on if they gave each Gigantimax unique abilities, though I feel like it would break things in the game.
Depending on impactful the buffs max moves provide or just the ability to wreak havoc for three whole turns, dynamax is far stronger than permanent megas. Megas took away your item slot (except mega rayquaza) which is huge in competitive battling and the limited amount of megas meant that it was much easier to predict which mon was the mega or predict when the opponent might dynamax could determine the flow of the entire battle if you predict right. Not to mention megas that changed abilities often had completely different play styles pre and post mega. Like how manectric users would delay mega evolution just to utilise its lightning rod ability before finally evolving. Or how sableye would not mega evolve just to utilise its prankster ability and would only evolve when magic bounce was needed. Then there were mons like garchomp who just never used their megas because of the loss of speed. Point is as restrictive megas were distribution wise, they were a great addition to the game and competitive as a whole. Now I am not saying dynamax is bad or unskilled. Vgc and doubles in general have shown just how skillful it is and how much creativity it allows. However as far as singles go, dynamax is HORRIBLY designed (which is kinda bad since almost all of your in game campaign is single battles and the game itself doesn't really do anything to push players towards doubles even though thats the official format). There is a reason why dynamax got banned from basically all tiers. Point is while dynamax is universally available, its just too unbalanced and only designed with one format in mind while completely disregarding the other. Which is just bad game design.
I can honestly say I haven’t heard anyone complaining about the location evolutions being replaced by stones. I know I was not amused to know that the Charjabug I got in the first two hours of the game couldn’t evolve until 85% through the game for no reason.
I think location based evolutions are fine if handled as just an additional option. Like if you dont want to wait till you get to the location you can use a rare item to force it early
@@sammydray5919 In the end it can be the same thing, though. Like, if there is no way to get an Ice Stone until Snowpoint city it doesn't really matter if it is location based or not. It's just too late. That said, Chargestone Cave wasn't that far into the game to allow evolution. Similarly, Mount Cornet is even better since you pass through it multiple times in the game. But Alola was really bad in this regard, though, almost all location-based evolutions were very late-game content. That's not saying location-based evolutions themselves are flawed, just that the Alola games did it horrendously.
Mega evolution was amazing pokemon that were easily tossed aside benefited greatly though odd thing to see is when we had mega evolution people hated it but when it was gone people who hated it wanted it back though mega evolution is the only mechanic that pokemon actually built upon with lore , history , heck there is even a separate timeline specific to mega evolution that exsists right beside the regular timeline there was a great war , and some pokemon became overpowered hou already know which pokemon I'm talking about hopefully it does come back in the future as it was awesome.
I wouldn't mind them going more into the root of like possible romance like the firework thing with that girl in that game or just running into different characters that you've helped or battled and paired with throughout your Journeys like that cute girl with a Chansey in the forest and then meeting her on the ferris wheel or more Easter eggs like the ghost girl on the bridge who then whines up in another region involving Heatran
I wouldn't mind HMs, they were the best way to add, as you said, a Zelda-like progression to the world. The bad part, especially in Gen 3 and 4, is that they cannot be forgotten, forcing you to get stuck with many suboptimal moves that you cannot get rid of unless you talk with one specific NPC (and it doesn't help that in most cases he's right near the end of the game, by which point HM slaves have already become dead weight in battle). If they could be forgotten like normal moves or have a way to work around at least the important ones (Surf, Fly, Strength - like ORAS' Eon Flute, which is basically a better version of the Fly HM in all but name), I definitely wouldn't mind them.
I am DEVESTATED that mega evolution is no longer in the games, especially when Dynamax/gigantamax whatever is just a budget form of it. There was so much potential for some more interesting megas especially when we didn't get the ones we deserved like Mega Flygon
Mega Evolution: Maybe giving Salamence, Rayquaza, Metagross Mewtwo etc megas weren’t a good idea, but Pokémon like Lopunny, Mawile, and Pigeot, sure. Z-moves: Nuke buttons that break through protect. Dynamax/Gigantamax: Pokémon grows big, gets double HP and gets three nuke buttons that pierce regular protect. Virdict: At least Mega Evolution didn’t pierce protect.
The biggest feature removed in Gen 4 was that it was the first generation without a way to play the mainline games on a home console. With the first 2 gens you could play them via Pokemon Stadium and with gen 3 you just needed the GBA player.
Actually replacing location based evolution with evolution through evolutionary stone was best possible decision. Though even better would be removing of trade based evolution (it's one of the stupidest thing in whole Pokemon). And worst was removing Mega Evolution, which was IMO best feature in Pokemon history.
I wonder if the removal of the day-night cycle in Gen 3 had anything to do with how dark the original GBA screen was. Ports of SNES games (like the Super Mario Advance series) had to be dramatically brightened to be visible.
The reason that was discontinued walking with Pokémon is because yellow was based on the anime it would’ve made sense to have any of the starters walk with you and generation two because Pikachu wasn’t a starter also another thing discontinued was getting all three starters in any other games though with egg hatching this is possible to have you all three of your starters be your own
Honestly, if can chose between Dynamax, Mega or Z-move, I will always go for Mega. Litterally, Mega is what make certain pokemon special and deserved attention. Z-move and Dynamax do not bring those special feeling, because simply, hey any pokemon can use Z-move or Dynamax, what so special about that. Gigatamax is just fancy Dynamax, no point there.
Im glad they got rid of Day / Night in Gen 3. As much as you can change the clock as much as you want it isn't fun relying on that as a crutch to avoid 50% of basically all wild encounters being HootHoot just because thats when you get to play.
IMO the removal of HMs was bad. You really only needed surf up until that point. The rest were either easier way of travel (fly) or mainly for finding items. It feels weird just borrowing some tauros you have absolutely no connection to that you didn’t even catch to ride around on, same goes for every single other ride pokemon. And the HM moves weren’t even bad for the most part. Strength was good STAB for a lot of HM-slaves (linoone, furret, bibarel), surf and waterfall were good water STABs for physical and special, and rock smash and rock climb are pretty good for coverage.
Heart Gold and Soul Silver "removed" the Lock Capsule Mystery Gift from the game. You can still get it in the game via an action replay code with the code being made available on another RU-vid video. The Lock Capsule is the only way to get the very last TM in the entire game unlike the Sludge Bomb TM that is obtained in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. They already put the notes in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire I can infer, so they did not feel the need to repeat themselves. They assume likely that the players somehow stumbled upon it by accident like I did was I was a lot younger. It did not feel like it was possibly all that he could say. It felt like he only said what he was coded to say based on how I triggered it possibly as well.
I know that they have a limiter in place on what content that the player has access to based on very specific gaming instructions triggers as well. Even back in Pokemon Red and Blue there is a certain script that can occur with a SHINY MEOWTH!!! that you can honestly find in the game somehow. I know that they the protocol to protect themselves from getting out information that they do not known to the public. When I triggered the game that Nintendo did not want to publicly acknowledge inside of Sapphire through an alternative pathway, they had to tell me the information because of the way that I triggered the way to play the game. The game is still unfinished, even if you trigger how to play it successfully. I knew then how to go on in the game. The game is based on an idea of Wallace getting killed and the main character getting an Eevee as a starter from your mother. It was infact talked about being put into the game by Nintendo, and then they ended up scrapping the idea. I somehow found out the information prior to being told it inside of the game, but just barely I think.
At least Mega Evolution lives on in Pokémon Masters. Imagine if they actually do it and have Masters be the debut and exclusive home of a Mega Flygon until Gen 6 remakes.
i will forever be mad that they just dropped mega evolutions. They were such a cool concept and were basically just dropped after gen 6, and afterthought in gen 7, and in gen 8 replaced with the nowhere near as good dynamaxing.
I think the switch to gen 3 from gen 2 and gen 1 was due the difficulties in calculating the specials from a single stat to the dual stats and vice versa. That's just my opinion though.
Losing mega evos was probably the most disheartening for me. That gave even the crappiest Pokemon the chance to shine in terms of recognition and viability. I assumed they were gonna have it in 8 gen since it lasted for 2 gens, but I was wrong sadly. I would much rather have that than gigantamax forms
