Man, you're awesome for this. I have an old Sporstster 883 from like 1989. I used to hate the headlamp visor but now I see it as a blessing since now I can mount the speedometer to it instead of having this big goofy unicorn horn looking thing sticking out of the handlebars and ruining the lines of the bike. I couldn't find any good speedometers or speedometer mounts that were a match for the bike or that wouldn't overly complicate things. Once again, thanks a lot man! Gonna take this on as a little step that'll make a big difference on my project.

I used 13mm deep well sockets for the riser for my speedo. Worked pretty good and the chrome matched the bike.

Looks good with the fairing installed. Roland Sands make a speedometer relocation bracket that lowers it down on top of the headlight, but it's expensive.

Great video! My bike has the 4 inch riser and l been looking at bar options and way to mount the speedo which isn't down on the left side. How may miles do you have on your Shinko tires? How are they holding up?

this video helped me out quite a bit. i want to relocate my gauges down to the headlight eyebrow mounts but wasnt sure if the bolts would line up. Good to know i just need to modify the gauge mount holes slightly to make it work.

The pipe will work. But I would suggest to go to a steel shop and get stainless. My buddy kinda did what you did. And he had problems with vibration and had to keep tightening or replacing that length all the time. The stainless has been a lot better

I have on 04 xl1200c and I just ordered this mount. Does your 05 have the same style indicator lights as this video? Mine doesn’t and not sure how to mount them.

This is something I'd definitely like to try. Thanks for the video! What year is your bike? I've got a 2013 and checked JP Cycles for the bracket. It doesn't technically fit my model year, but if it's just a matter of widening the holes, I'm game. Also, have you noticed any substantial rattling?

Mine is an 09 which the mount is not specifically listed for either. At this point a lot of parts on the bike aren't technically for my year or model. No rattling with the mount. I just made sure to use a grade 8 bolt cause I've heard of weaker ones snapping.

What if I have a sportster (xl1200cx, 2017)... have an mx style bar and just want some rise(like 8"risers and about 2" pullback) but dont have a headlamp fancy thing... how do I use that bracket?

3/4 heat shrink over the aluminum pipe would work also ace hardware sells 2”bushings that would work well

Bung king custom risers has the option for a low or high mount welded directly to the bars low mount is about 2 inches up from the bottom and high mount is about 2 inches down from the top

I’ve been trying to find pictures of those on the web on a sportster and can’t find shit. My girl has an iron 883xl and she wants them in 8” pull pack but doesn’t know which to order. And if more wiring length is needed for the gauges to mount in high or low position

@@palmettolowlife1996I searched for pictures too , finally just took a chance. I didn't need any extra wiring for my speedometer with the low mount the speedometer sits very close to the top of the headlight housing.. I would imagine you would need extra wiring for the high mount but I don't have it so I can't say for a fact and also I would think a higher mount would be better for a shorter rider that can't see over the bars and down like your looking at the top of the headlight

(Height , pullback, wire holes etc ) How tall are you? did you need to order any other brake or clutch cables too? Any other recommendations with that setup you can think of? I think she’s gonna get a Memphis shades road warrior fairing and my try a plex System install down the road. Appreciate all the insight and help!

@@palmettolowlife1996 I have a 2004 Harley Davidson xl sportster 1200 roadster ..Im 6"1" I went with the 10 inch bung king risers 2 in. Pullback and I put the bung king high bend bars on so total of around 13 inches tall ..internal wire through bars and risers ...I did put a longer front brake line on( mine is dual disc front brakes) I order that through Magnum shielding they have several color options

@@WARPED._.VISION you are awesome! Few more questions. Will the risers work with the oem handle bars? If so, either way, Will we need to order a new top clamp ? And how does the oem gauge connect? Mine has 4 hole bolt pattern but the pics I’ve seen on the risers just has two. Does it only use the two on the oem ? Or is there another part to order as well?

Does anyone know what bracket he’s using for his indicator lights (neutral, oil, left and right turn signals) ? I bought this gauge mount but it doesn’t come with a bracket for the indicator lights. I’ve looked everywhere.

I want to say it was a 3 inch 5/16 coarse thread, grade 8. I just replaced with a zinc coated bolt from home depot cause first ones were not rust resistant.

I don’t know the name of the style on this bike. This style left the docking hardware on the tubes when the fairing is removed. I would recommend the Bung King brackets paired with quick detach clamps.

Not familiar with the 2020. I’d say if your speedo has that mount or can fit in that mount that it can be done. Maybe someone with a 2020 could chime in.
