I have a 1984 MH in Vero and I am watching every single one of your videos. I started watching on how to rip out and replace the floor. By watching all of your vids. In case I run into other problems I’ll have an idea on how to repair or fix it thise. I started with 1 soft spot. And that grew and grew. Omg. Caz no one prior to me owning it cared about it. Leaking roof. Leaking dishwasher. Original kitchen and bath. I fixed the leaking roof. Then I redid the bathroom floor. Now on to the kitchen. Thanks for all your videos.
I can tell you one thing Randy I know all about it I have been working on mobile homes for quite some time and throughout the years have learned so many things. I love to learn. Mobile home is not built like a house. When it comes to the walls or when it comes to the paneling or when it comes to the floors or underneath nothing is the same
I'm currently redoing the floors end-to-end in a 1971 Clayton and am a DIYer. All of your videos are the best I've seen out there. I like the tips and tricks for example I now use my reciprocating saw in a new way and it doesn't bounce all over the place.
Everybody asked me about my saw and why I use it like that because it works so much better thank you for the comment and thank you for saying that it works better because everybody else calls me crazy and tells me to turn it around it works much better with the blade backwards
I wish I had a frame like that for the cover underneath. I been a mechanic my whole life and iv heard many people say u can't do this can't do that but over the years I realized if you know what your doing you can do whatever you want. If I would have had more knowledge before starting my trailer I'd be done by now .

BTW That's not called a sanding disc.... it's called a flap wheel .. The term sanding disc is usually applied to just a flat disc that you put a flat, round piece of sandpaper on or a disc that has a course , heavily epoxied sandpaper built into it ,usually 100 grit or coarser and its usually used for grinding steel and other hard substances.. You are absolutely right about having the deck level to the door .. my front porch is like that ... but I'm going to have to take it down lower... because it has rotted out around the door ..
I honestly prefer a "mobile home" over a regular house way easier to work on less expensive. But at the same time I've always been interested in property size then house size.
I live in a Doublewide I added 28 x 30 living space all in all I am 28 feet wide by 90 feet long. I have an acre and a half of property maybe a little more than that I agree lots of property

With what you're doing replacing all of that I have a question ballpark figure what does it cost to completely replace those floors in that trailer cuz I may do that. Also how much do you charge if somebody paid for all the materials? Love the videos I'm just not looking forward to doing any of it LOL
Where do you see tomorrow’s video you’ll actually get to see how tough it is to remove them Floors. I’m not saying it can’t be done I’m just saying it’s not an easy job. And on this particular job my original estimate was 11,000 using the flooring that we use because it is very expensive. But as you notice there is a lot of things that we didn’t know about. I’m guesstimating this job will probably turn out to be about 13,000 just my guesstimate and that’s labor and material. But it will be better than it was when it all came from the factory
I have a problem that you folks may not have considered. When renovating my mobile home, I have no choice but to make my entrance deck the same level as my front door because it needs to be wheelchair accessible. It doesn't take much of a threshold height difference and my wheelchair will completely stall at that point. However, if I'm understanding you correctly, a large overhang, large gutters or other method of keeping it all dry right where the deck meets the front door should solve my problem. Am I right on this?
Yes, anything to keep the water from coming off at the doorway where the deck is would be great. If you can’t put the deck 7 inches below the doorway than a rain diverter of some type over the door will help you are absolutely correct my friend.
I tell you up buddy that frame doesn’t make it easy but if you don’t have the frame you can also do it with two by twos and the material you can buy on Amazon. One day I’m gonna run a crossed one that needs to be repaired and I’m gonna show everybody that video it’s going to be amazing.It’s not that hard to do it’s just a little bit different

Love your videos and the fact that you respond to all of us. My in laws have a mobile home that prob needs new roof and new floors/underbelly. Would you recommend just buying a new mobile home or do you believe that the cost of fixing the mobile home already on the property is worth the investment. Also would need new heating/air and windows so it seems overwhelming. We live in North Ga for reference. Thanks again.
They’re going to put new heating and air they’re going to use the wall units I never can remember the name these people bought this place property and mobile home for 20 grand they might put 30 into it but they’ll have a house and property for $50,000 no rent no bills paid for that’s the way I wanna live
Never put a deck right against the house either. Have to have like a 1/2" gap to let water drain and not get in the house or rot the the wood in the house
Can you tell us what flap disc you are using is it strictly a wood disc or ??? I bought a couple disc but the staples have killed them thanks for the helpful videos

I’ve been debating whether to get a newer mobile home and pay for hauling and removing my old one or just gutting the old one I have and completely redoing, it needs everything- roof, windows, flooring. Single wide On 2 acres rural in Ohio. Any idea just a very rough guesstimate on what it would cost? Very informative and great content on your channel.
It’s according to whether you’re going to do it yourself or you’re going to have help if you’re going to do it yourself you can do it fairly reasonable on the floors you might spend five grand. On the roof you might spend 3500 maybe four grand.

I've got some major remodeling I have to do in my mobile home & I've been watching you guys redo the floor & everything & I've noticed those narrow planks of wood that sit on top of the floor joists. I know they're for the floor board to have something to screw down to. I forget what they're called exactly. Have far apart should they be, 4 ft?
Every 4 feet they drop down the floor Joyce 3/4 of an inch and they put a piece of basically plywood on top of the floor Joyce. Every 4 feet just in case when they’re running their plywood it doesn’t run dead center of the floor Joyce. That’s why they added that strip if you have that strip you can remove it if it’s bad and replace it with a new one by four
No we don’t work in Texas and I’m not sure who does it if I lived in Texas I would go on to Google and type in mobile home parts or mobile home store and call one of them and say who works on Mobile Home Floors. I would do that because they more than likely know who does it because they sell mobile home parts not just a homeowners like yourself but the contractors.
I have a question MR Drew , i had a leak and had to cut open a few places of my underbelly open to dry out the places that got wet, its a couple small 2x4 spots that i cut open and 2 larger spots 5x6 . I placed some of the insulation board that you showed , the white with silver backing over the opening except i used the 1” thick insulation board. Held in place by deck screws and fender washers its secure but will that seal up and insulate well enough so that i dont have moisture issues and floor rot?
There wasn’t anything I can do about it and by the time they put sheet rock on the walls and baseboard that God will never be there you’ll never see it and that wall is out that far unbelievable
The outside walls only have 3 1/2 inch floor joist so it gets our 13 the middle has plenty of room so it gets R 19 so I’m not sure what you’re talking about the floor at the walls get about 2 1/2 feet of our 13 because there’s only 3 1/2 inch floor Joist
Yes this is factory only the second one I’ve ever seen like this generally they have the underbelly like I showed in the video you can buy the Underbelly at Amazon and you replace it basically with two by twos and you screw it to the bottom of the floor Joyce it can easily be done you just have to do it in between each separate bay
That grinder should work to cut up that brass that’s contaminated with steel plastic etc …… l cut it all up to make it # 1 working on those trailers isn’t easy I’m a bit of a perfectionist that’s why I hate working on them is just not easy even if you make it look that way
I probably make it look easy myself because I’ve done it so many times it’s not really easy it’s hard work but hard work never killed anybody and yes that Greiner will come in handy on my other channel Scrapping with Grandpa
