Best informative video I seen. I need to replace mine on my obs, second one in 3 years. A shop did it last time but I don't feel like spending 400 plus to replace it at a shop. Thanks!

Good video, watched before replacing my 1994 5.7L which had totally failed breaking the belt and dumping coolant on the ground. Couple of things I ran into to be prepared for -- I was worried about 30 year old water pump bolts coming out, they came out no problem but only one of the four 1/2 inch drive 14 mm sockets I had would fit the narrow opening around the bolt head so check that before you start. The four bolts holding the fan on looked in good shape and didn't think they would be a problem so of course they were. One came right out, another after some work, the last two no luck. Had sprayed all them ahead of time, tried smacking wrench with hammer many times, then vice grips and smacking harder, then heating them. The last two would never budge and ended up cutting them off with a hacksaw blade (cut the nut down the side so you can get the stud out). The threads are M8x1.25 and I used get bolts to replace the studs/nuts for those two as no parts store anywhere near. If you are putting on a new lower radiator hose, my radiator end spring clamp was not accessible until I pulled the radiator free (you don't need to disconnect the trans lines, just move the radiator over a bit). My truck very common build, Delco GM part number for pump 252-719, belt 6K966/88932795, and lower hose 26207X 88908904.

Nice! Need to remove both steering pump, water pump & A/C compresor in order to clean the block from an oil leak from the manifold gasket. Think there Would be trouble if water pressure goes into those water pump holes into the block?

Looks like you put some blue material on the gaskets and the two upper screws, but no mention of the material or how you applied it, nor if you allowed it to get tacky. How much torque on the four bolts? I am hoping for no leaks, so these details are important.

I have an intermittent coolant leak in my 95 C1500. I thought it was the bottom hose connection at the water pump because sometimes coolant runs down the backside of the hose and drips when it gets to the low point of the hose. But I replace hose. Still leaked. Replaced clamp. Still leaks. I'm wondering if the water pump could be leaking from one of the bolt holes that is behind the hose nib and running down the back of the hose. Or, if it's leaking from the weep hole, would it run down the back side of the hose? Only leaks after the vehicle has been running and is then parked somewhere. And again, not all the time and usually not right after I park. Usually doesn't start dripping until after it's shut down for a while. That what keeps me thinking it's the hose/clamp. But I'm at my wits end here. Any possibility it could be leaking somewhere other than the hose itself?

How do you let the air cycle out just leave it running
@jonthelamb4549
@jonthelamb4549 3 года назад
Ya and make sure it’s stays full and try to get the front in the air also have the heat all the way up
@obssyndicate
@obssyndicate 3 года назад
I let the air cycle out by burping the lines like I did in the video (but be careful if the fan shroud is off). Also like Jon the Lamb said. Make sure the coolant stays topped off (full) from the radiator and let it cycle. Keep the car on while doing this and the heat all the way up. I've heard having your car at an angle with the front end higher will help as well. Thanks for watching the video!

Very nicely produced guide, but I have one criticism. I'm mostly looking to compare how everyone handles their gaskets and RTV (some say just RTV, some combine the two, some swear by just gaskets), and you skipped over that part entirely.
