That Rays/Dodgers one was mass chaos as far as the mistakes. Chris Taylor muffed the ball in center, Arozarena tripped on his way from 3rd to home, and Will Smith muffed the ball on the relay to home. Still remember watching it live wondering what the hell even happened lmao
Baseball having no game clock means it’ll have exponentially more walkoffs, because the leading team can’t just run the clock out. Essentially…yeah baseball has too many.
Kirk Gibson walk-off homer in the World Series against the A’s. Bill Mazerowski (sp?) walk-off home run to win the World Series for Pittsburg Joe Carter walk-off home run to win the World Series for Toronto They seem like fairly important plays in sports history.
Also Doug Flutie's Boston College Miracle Diamondbacks beating the Yankees in the World Series on Gonzo's walk-off bloop single. Being a D-back fan I'll never for get it. Thanks for posting this though, a lot of great memories. Reminds me of why I love sports.
5:20-5:41 if anyone is confused by these two plays or doesn’t remember, they should be counted as one “moment” on this list; Mike Brown had two game ending pick-6s in back to back games (I looked it up, it was week 7 and week 8 of the 2001 season).
That first call is an all-timer. Shows off his recent purchase of a thesaurus and then hits you with that max-excitement voice-cracking 'what a time to be alive!' That call was excellent, exquisite, phenomenal, otherworldly, without equal...
I rarely watch college football but the ending to the Boise State/Oklaholma game is still one of my favourite endings to a sports game ever. To risk it all in overtime is an extremely bold move and it was great to see it pay off.
You left out the granddaddy of improbable finishes; the “37 lateral” Cal/Stanford 82 big game with the runner weaving thru the Stanford band and scoring thru a tackle by the trombone player. Known in college football lore as just, “The Play”.
The worst thing is you could see the 2nd or 3rd player's knee hit just before he lateraled the ball. Then again, Vince Young did the same thing before shovel-passing the ball in the 2006 Rose Bowl, and it wasn't called back.
The Chicago Cubs are facing the St. Louis Cardinals and they are down 3-0. Bottom of the ninth, 2 outs, 2 strikes, bases loaded. David Bote unloads and cranks a walk off grand slam. This should be in the video but not many people know about it.
When I hear walk off, I’m thinking Kirk Gibson limping up to the plate. Joe Carter’s walk off to win the World Series. Aaron Fu(Klng Boone. Game winners that actually won an iconic game.
im shocked not to see Kawhis game 7 buzzer beater on here. although given that it broke my soul (as well as everyones in philadelphia) im glad i didn't have to relive it.
Damian Lillard 0.9 second buzzer beater to take Portland to the second round of playoffs in 2014 and Cal Ralleigh's walk off homer to end a 20 year drought and send Mariners to the playoffs should be on here too
The best in Baseball history that I know of has to be 2011 game 6. I know it didn’t win the World Series but the fact the Cardinals even won the game and the series is crazy. You know it was an awesome game when the patch of grass behind the center field wall is called Freese’s Landing.
I don't know if it was the greatest walk off ever, but the two comebacks down two runs down to their final strike made it one of the greatest moments in sports history. Especially if you were a Cards fan.
@@tjmckenzie4048 How is it not the greatest walk off ever? Cardinals were down to their last strike and last out of the season and were down I think two. David Freese came through and hit a game tying triple. Then two innings later in extra innings he hit a walkoff homer. You can’t get much better than that.
@@OldBenKenobi2318 I hear ya man. You could argue that it's the greatest game we've ever seen, especially with the fact that it would've won the World Series for the Rangers. Cards were down two twice with two outs and two strikes and they tied the game BOTH times. It was insane (and I hated it because I was cheering for the Rangers). My point is that the walk off portion wasn't as incredible as the actual game an comeback. Freese led off the inning with the homerun in a tie game. Had it been a three run shot with 2 outs and down two runs, then yes, that would be different. Even Pujols 3 run shot off Brad Lidge was WAY more incredible than Freese's homerun. Anyway, I'm not dissing anything Freese did. He was incredible and the Cardinals comeback win was unbelievable.
As a Rangers fan I was crushed. I think that turned the momentum to the cardinals for game 7 and killed the Ranger confidence. Definitely one of the best walk off moments in sports though!
Mazeroski, Kirk Gibson, and Joe Carter are the greatest walkoffs of all time, hands down... how do you miss those in this first video... just randomly picking videos... missed opportunity there!
I'm gonna disagree and say Kirby Puckett in the 1991 World Series. But I'm a Minnesotan. Who was born in 1984 and was 7 in 1991 so I may be a little biased.
There were sports prior to 2000. For example: Bill Mazeroski’s 9th inning home run, in the 1960 World Series. It’s the only time in which the World Series was won by a walk-off home run.
@@bumblebeemoi Tom Dempsey’s 63 1/2-yard field goal, is also conspicuously missing; although that wasn’t in a postseason game. Also, Bo Jackson’s run was in the 1st quarter. And where were Adam V’s TWO Superbowl winning field goals?
Steve Nelson took two of mine. Kirk's and Bill's. But I want to add two more baseball ones: Carlton Fisk's 1976 Game 6 Home Run. Or Mookie Wilson's single between Bill Buckner also in Game 6, 10 years later.
You left out a really big one when Villanova beat North Carolina in the 2016 NCAA Final. It was literally a buzzer beater. And as an Arizona Cardinal fan you missed 3 moments in our less than successful history: Week 16 1998-Chris Jacke hits a 52 yard FG to send the Cardinals to the playoffs for the first time since 1982(first time since 1975 for a non strike year). Wild Card 2009 season-Vs. Packers. The highest scoring playoff game in NFL history(96 points) and the Cards win with a 17 yard fumble recovery in overtime. 2015 Divisional game-Vs. Packers-After Rodgers ties it up at the buzzer with a Hail Mary, Larry Fitzgerald gains 76 yards on a pass and catch then takes a shovel pass to win the game in overtime.
I was watching the Iron Bowl when Auburn returned the way-short field goal attempt by Alabama. I remember thinking, why in the world did Nick Saban make that call?!?
Agreed. If Saban and former Soviet hockey coach Viktor Tikhonov ever met, they could have a real debate over which one made the worst in-game decision.
The shot heard round the world Mets vs Yankees "He dropped the ball!" Bryce Harper's grand slam vs Cubs Michael Jordan's buzzer beater vs Cavaliers Brandi Chastain's penalty kick in the '99 World Cup
Always nice to see a video about the "Best Walk Offs" and only feature 1 from the sport that term originated in, and that 1 is only memorable to that specific teams tiny fan base.
I'm a Tigers fan (I know, it sucks) There was going to be way more baseball plays but I ran out of time on this video so part 2 will have a lot more iconic plays and way more baseball
I love that moment of silence as the ball’s flying through the air at the buzzer. Pause at exactly 1:20 when the ball’s gone in but everyone’s brain needs another 1/10 of a second to process it before going nuts. That’s awesome.
I love this! As a viewer, 3 recommendations for future videos @BismoFunyuns276: 1) make sure the volume across the clips is consistent. I went from cranking up, to turning down, to cranking up 2) make sure the scores aren't cropped-out from the clips - it's helpful to know which teams are losing, winning, tied, etc 3) perhaps let the announcers comments finish before switching to the next clip Otherwise, thanks for making this compilation! Subscribed and looking forward to the next one
Thank you for the comment and suggestions! This video was going to be way longer but I had to cut it short. I don't have the resources to make these flawless and I've only done this for fun. Wasn't expecting anywhere near 167K views either! 😂
A really big walkoff game you should have added was game 6 2011 world series. David freese hit a solo HR in the bottom of the 11th inning to send it to game 7
The lack of the 1960 World Series walk-off Home Run by Mazeroski and the Joe Carter walk-off Home Run in the 1992 World Series leaves me to wonder about your criteria for selection.
No list of walk-off winners is complete without Warren Morris, 1996 LSU over Miami for the NCAA Men's College World Series Championship. It's literally the childhood dream. 2 Outs, bottom 9th, you represent the winning run. The other team's dominant pitcher is on the mound. You're the underdog because you've been hurt all year.
Any list like this that doesn't include "2nd and 26" from the '17 season's CFP title game is just incomplete. Many of these didn't have a championship on the line, nor did they have the in-game drama building up to that moment.
