This post opened in 1962 but closed in 1968, this was abandoned for many years, being empty and unused.
The site was accessible in 1997 but sometime between 1997 and 2007 the entrance shaft was filled up with rubble and now has been rendered with cement.

Tie a torch and gopro on the end of a rope and lower it down the shaft! It works really well for our mine shafts, we call it shaft fishing :)

There is one of those down Northwick road on Canvey island just past the turning to the Dutch cottage museum beside the fast food burger place (the one with the big m where there is more nutrition in the packaging).it was intact until about the turn of the century then someone i presume the council knocked the entrance block off and covered it over with soil . but the mound is quite prominent to see through the fence. loved the film nice quiet location.

The land owner filled it with concrete to stop kids keep going down there, I'm thinking he capped it and just filled the top end.

But there is quite a substantial tree growing above it! How did they make one under a tree? Has the tree grown that big since 1968?

Its a good thing in my eyes some of thease are sealed least if some one wanted to buy one it wont be all vandalized
