I am 71 and do not know a time without overt racism and sexism, as well as other inequalities, so no time to look back and yearn for. However, was there a time when I was a child that I was not aware of some things and did not care as much about the others....so the first 14 years of life but I don't yearn for those times because U.S not a good place. I am beginning to lose hope for the future..just glad I had CHOICE and had no children. white, midfle-class
@DW Palme no she isn't, she is just worried about the rights of women, that is a touchy subject, she is the same as most women, just want to protect our rights to our own health & bodies, no government has the right to tell us what we can & cannot do with our health, I am on her side too.
Well, Bette dropped the ball on that a few weeks ago when she insulted everyone in an entire state for being backwards and illiterate. She can have her records back.
2023!! We will stay strong. Hope & hugs to ALL females, LGBTQ + and BIPOC. May you stay safe and we stand together against the Patriarchy. Love to Ukraine 🇺🇦
@@judemcmaster574 if it was up to me, she would have, hopefully she still can get it, I would be so happy if she would get it even though they didn't give it to her back then.
2024, in a band in the 80's, 90's and early 2k.. i always wanted this to be one of the last cover songs i did but now i am 50, and my band is gone, scattered throughout the country the last song we worked on covering, was a Gordon Lightfoot song
today it would be the birthday of my loved mother in law (((((((((. she died in may after a short but very hard illness (10 operations in 4 weeks). happy birthday, u was the very best mother in law. i send u all good wishes, may u be on a nice place.
You say that like if you think she was doing Bette a favor or something... Remember THE ROSE 🌹 was BETTE MIDLER'S #1 HIT GRAMMY AWARD WINNING SONG... not Wynona's..
@@row_sea you were wrong... Your perception is also wrong.. The original comment was that "Wynona never Attempted to overpower Bette Midler out of respect"... That makes clear he assumes Wynona could easily overpower her IF she wanted to... I was saying that's NOT THE CASE ...because no person can overpower the person who made the song famous to begin with...
She did however overpower her mother's beautiful voice all the time how sad but that definitely wouldn't work with the beautiful voice of the queen Bette Midler
What I took away from this comment, and mind you at almost 50, these two iconic women have been two of my favorites most of my life. I’ve seen both of them live. But…. We all know Wynona has this insanely powerful, belting voice, sings from her belly, and can broadcast. Bette has her own powerful set of pipes, god knows she does. But I feel like OC was saying wynona held back on her boom some, to compliment Bette, as opposed to singing over her. Not “outshine” her on her own song by any means, but Wynona has always had the lungs to carry her southern/blusey country style. Just two different style singers, collaborating in the most beautiful way, on the most beautiful song.
12 minutes, that's all it took Amanda McBroom to write this gorgeous song. Bette sang it beautifully solo, but with Why here, they take it to an even higher level. Well done ladies.
I feel bad for Wynona and Ashley. They lost their mother one day before county hall of fame. Then to add insult, it was going to be Mother's Day. Please keep them in your prayers. I'm sure Bette has sent hers. She is still friends with Wynona and Ashley even though they have different political views. I love Bette. I also love the humbleness of Wynona. I wish the world would stop bringing them down because of one man that nearly destroyed democracy. Wynona sings a song called Freedom. It's what we all need. Freedom from the hate, violence fear, and hunger. Concentrate on that more than anything or anyone political.
Gill E, it was recorded in 1995, not that long back, 26 yrs ago, it feels like only 10, she did so beautiful on that song with Wynonna, their voices were gorgeous together.
I am crying just watching the Homegoimg Service for Naomi Judd. Bette gave a moving tribute and Wynonna sang "The Rose" for Naomi. 🙏❤️😇 RIH beautiful Naomi. You will forever live in our hearts and music.
Bette Midler is such a consummate professional... you can tell by this performance here... it comes from and is learned from many many years of practice and performing everywhere ...including gay bars in mean NYC way back in the 70s .
I fell in love with Donald Trump, and while I can never have him because not only is he the leader of the free world, therefore way above my station in life and he is married and so am I, I still value the tremendous love I feel for him. My heart took a great chance, and it is broken into many pieces never to be mended, but I would do it all over again because a great love only comes occasionally in a lifetime, and I know I am blessed to have found it. God forgive me if I have done wrong. 🌹
Notice here how Bette Midler can out perform Wynonna Judd here even though Wynonna has a better voice with more range then Bette’s. Now that’s a Legend and total professional that can do that.
I got a chance to meet her"Bette Midler"🗽🗽 I call her the Divine Ms.M she cracked up. She said" she liked that name the best." She is the real deal. Good person.💜
