A review of the Shark Vertex Cordless DuoClean Power Fins IZ462H.
Also applicable to the Shark Vertex Pro Cordless DuoClean Power Fins IZ662H.
Shark has positioned their top-of-the-line cordless stick vacuum at a very attractive price point as compared to the competition like the Dyson V10 or the Miele Triflex. But what about cleaning and quality? Have they cut any corners on the Vertex Cordless? Today we take a look and find out.
This vacuum was purchased by the reviewer for the purpose of this review. The opinions expressed here are purely the opinion of House of Vacuums.

We love making these reviews and providing information to the public. However, buying new vacuum models at retail and spending time testing them gets pricey! If you found this video helpful or if we saved you a few bucks, you can thank us by giving a Super Thanks. It is not necessary, but it is always greatly appreciated!

HI Matt. Thank you for the honest way you look at vacuum cleaners, I cannot tell you how much relief that brings amid all the confusing reviews out there .... Do you also review other brands..? I am pulling my hair out with reviews trying to find one that doesn't have a con that is unliveable with. With all the feedback out there why cant they just make one that works all round without a terrible con? Some report good runtime but on a closer look the real time working runtime is at least half of their claims. Performance on carpet is measured in turbo, so that blows the battery time... I want something that can run on eco or medium for every day vacuuming... OK so going round and round in circles I am now tossing up between Shark, Tineco and Bosch. Trouble is there are very few reviews on the Bosch Unlimited Serie 7... some say its heavy, some light, some poor suction, some strong suction, some hard to push on carpet, some easy to push, some say light, some say heavy, some noisy others quiet!!!! (they are customer reviews on buying sites not like yours a performance review) ... and my head is spinning trying to decipher the truth... I like the sound of Bosch as it has the eco battery so I can get a charger from local hardware store and a 6amp battery instead of a 4, and can charge the batteries separate from the machine meaning I can stick it in a cupboard if I want or in a tidy place where I haven't got an outlet... Bosch is also German brand battery so they claim... I can live with a smaller canister, I cant live with a noisy vac or a heavy one, or something where the head gets really tangled... the Bosch hasn't got an anti tangle head, but looks easy to maintain... I wish someone would market an adaptor so I can fit another brand head... There is also the Shark lift away pet pro... that looks amazing on the very limited videos... sounds quieter, convenient as weight is lower but can lift away for stick use.. not available here in Australia yet... the Bosch Unlimited serie 8 is also very scarce on reviews and info... the Tineco I am so confused at the different types.. I was heading for S15 but then saw some stats where the low end suction is bad..then there is the A11 pet with anti-tangle and S 11 pure one... (I dont know any more???) well I need a mod to good low end stat as I do not intend to vac on Turbo, so runtime and performance has to reflect medium working figures... also many vacs tend to demonstrate on hard floor, I have carpet low pile wool throughout ... I am getting to the stage with the way vacs are advertised that I feel I need to pay someone to help me find something suitable! Not sure such consultants exist... there is also the factor of durability, some customer reviews complain of things breaking or performance dropping or poor customer service after a year or so.... My mum is 85 and arthritic hands so she needs to be able to use it too.... can you help even a little? Like you said what is the point of buying an expensive vac that doesn't perform to price when you can go get a cheaper one that does the same...

Well done. Vacuum Wars tend to rate Shark highly. I just discovered your channel but after watching VW for a while, I felt that they are biased for the Sharks for some reason. But then Dyson is not that great either with their exaggerated marketing, but Dysons are better performing machines overall.
@HouseOfVacuums
@HouseOfVacuums Год назад
I don't like to talk about competitors very much, but VW has been upfront about the fact he has done consulting work for Shark before. Make of that what you will. But, yes, I do think that when compared the Dysons are worth the price premium over the Shark. They aren't great, as you said, but they are better.

@HouseOfVacuums
@HouseOfVacuums Год назад
Hey Mark! Sorry for the delay. The truth is that most stick vacs will work well on bare floors except for the super, super cheap ones. Shark, Dyson, Riccar, Simplicity, Miele... they will all work well, mostly because it doesn't require a massive amount of power to remove debris from a bare floor. If I had to pick one that is the best I've used for bare floor and carpeting, it is the nozzle for the Dyson V10 with the adjustable debris gates. A close second is the Simplicity S65 with the fluffy roller for only bare floor. I also have mostly hardwood. Truth be told, out of all the cordless stick vacs I own, I reach for two the most. The first is the Miele HX1. If I'm not dealing with large debris it is an absolute delight to use and super quiet. That being said, it will tend to snowplow debris about the size of small dog food because the nozzle is so low. The second is a Dyson V8 with a V10 nozzle attached to it. Not a practical option to buy, I know, but it mixes the best nozzle Dyson has made with what is in my opinion the best stick model they have made. Hope that helps!

I'm in the process of researching but it is hard to know if there is bias here since you sell Miele and Dyson. Regardless I am leaning towards Miele since I already have one of their canister vacs. You may want to disclose the fact that you are a dealer for the other brands.
@HouseOfVacuums
@HouseOfVacuums Год назад
I am indeed a dealer for Miele, but I actually do not carry Dyson despite the amount of content I make about them. So my bias may not be as high as one might think. Regardless, I will typically steer people clear of Shark even if they buy something I don't carry. Dyson, Miele, Hoover, Oreck, Sebo, Riccar, Simplicity, Bissell... they all have parts fairly readily available for needed repairs. That is not the case with Shark. It is truly the definition of a disposable vacuum. I hope that helps give you some direction in your shopping. If I were to pick two cordless machines that are a cut above this it would be the Dyson V8 and the Miele HX1 Triflex. Cheers!
@sprockkets
@sprockkets Год назад
@@HouseOfVacuums You still can get Hoover parts? My local Hoover dealer basically wrote them off, and he is a person who worked for them in the 70s and 80s, and then started a vacuum store and sold them for the past 40 years. He now says he sells 100 Sebos for every Hoover vac, and doesn't bother with Hoover much anymore.
@TheTamsicles

Interesting because I’ve been using my brothers Dyson for months now since I gave the Shark to my parents after moving. The Shark is way better. Has a flex stick, led lights, IQ display and lasts longer than Dyson. His roller brush stopped working for months as well. Had the shark for 4 years and it still word great. He has had his Dyson for maybe two years. So how is my Shark disposable but his Dyson is value considering his has already broken down and has less features? Suction power is also the same for both.
@RangerS09
@RangerS09 Год назад
Where I respect this guy had a review to do, I don't fully agree with him on what this vacuum is capable of. I have used this model and I think there is some biased being displayed here. That's why you need to read comments also. I see I'm not the only one that noticed this. The noise level on this vac is actually not bad at all. Much quieter than my plugin electric unit that I've had for 4 years. I have perfect hearing by the way, so if it's going to aggravate somebody by being too loud, it's me. The hair brow cleaning he was doing on the bottom roller; I haven't had to do. I have a very heavy shedding Shiba Inu dog, and it picks up everything, which is better than my electric vac does (which has the old-fashioned stiffer bristles). Now I will say that the collection canister is smaller, so you'll have to empty it out more often. Then there's the exaggeration about the self-storage, which wasn't even reviewed properly. This reviewer, just let go of it and let it fall. I can do that to any vac for goodness' sake! The IZ462H has the nice "EASY" button to push to let it fold in half and then it is self-balanced (no need to hang it up). The battery runtime is better than 30 mins which wasn't what this guy was suggesting. I can agree with one point that he made and it's the first thing he criticized, which is the weight of the handle. It is heavier than the handle of my electric vac. So that part is true. The guidance when you turn the vac was also another part misrepresented. It's not the most fluent handling, but it's not hard to guide by any means. With a slight turn of the wrist, it changes course quite easily without fuss. It has decent suction and agitation is fair. Remember it's built to pick up on all surfaces. Are there better vacuums out there, probably, but I will not be listening to this channels' review of them. Sorry sir. You conflict to much against my own experience with the IZ462H. I would recommend this vacuum. If it didn't do its job on my mid-high carpet and laminate floors, I would've returned it.
@HouseOfVacuums
@HouseOfVacuums Год назад
Certainly not disqualifying your own preferences and experience. What I was expressing was my experience after using it, and I have a LOT of experience with pretty much every model of vac on the market. When compared side-by-side with it's direct competitors, there are better options for the price I will stick by that. But if you enjoy yours I am certainly not trying to talk you out of it. Cheers!

@@HouseOfVacuums Understood. I should've mentioned that I got it at a much lower price when Kohls ran a sale. I only paid 239.00 for it. Not 379.00. I would not have paid near 400 dollars because there is in fact a better model, but then you get above the price range most commoners want to pay for one.

Why can't someone just build a miniature bagged vacuum that uses common powertool batteries. I'd prefer small bags instead of having dust go everywhere when emptying, and periodically having to clean the gunk out of the internals is so annoying as well.

The problem with Sharks is they work briefly then they stop sucking as good. The last 4 Sharks I have owned do this. They work excellent right out of the box, then every month they lose more and more suction then just stop picking up. It's not filters, its not clogs, it's not any damage, checked all that. It just baffles me. Only thing I can think of is some kind of suction relief flap or issue with the motor or fan destroys itself with use and ruins the air pressure.

That was the Vertex Pro Lift-Away Cordless not the Vertex Cordless Stick Vacuum. They actually have this in a more powerful Vertex Pro Stick Vacuum version IZ662H and the Stratos has more options and even more power and would have been a better comparison and hundreds of dollars less than the Dyson although The V15 is better if money is not an object.

Thanks for the comment! I haven't tested the Stratos cordless, but it was not out at the time I did this video. However, the Vertex Pro is 301 Watts while the Vertex is 281... it is is a very nominal difference.
