Bias Cut Quilt Binding | The Sewing Room Channel

I love this!! Oh and I am so happy to have found a leftie quilter!!! I am too and we need to stick together!! Seriously, it makes for cutting etc so much easier watching a left handed person demonstrating it.

I've always prewashed fabric except when making a quilt. I feel that no matter how much I iron it after washing, it still is easier to keep it flat when sewing if I don't. I just take a chance washing the finished quilt with a color catching sheet. It seems to all scrunch & shrink at the same amounts making me love it more.

Thank you. Very informative video. Really like that you show how not to sew bias strips together. Helps me understand the correct way. Also as a beginner the tips on using the ruler were very helpful.

What is the difference between cutting on the bias rather than in strips? Thank you.

Hi Carol. Bias cut binding is used on things that are round like a pot holder. Bias binding lays flatter on curved edges. Straight grain binding is use on straight edges. Straight grain binding does not lay flat on a curved edge. The edges will roll up towards the center. Hope this was helpful. Happy sewing.
