I had a partial rupture of the distal tendon, and all the orthopedic doctors I got in touch with, suggested not to proceed with surgery. Now I am receiving a therapy called Tecar which improves the healing time of the tendon + rehab gymnastics. I don’t have pain and I still wonder if I should get surgery or not. I can do all movements with my left arm without feeling pain. The doctor said it will take up to 6/7 months for recovery.

I got my distal bicep repaired 6+ months after a partial tear. I had too much pain in that area to not go through a repair.

That would be a reasonable treatment

Hi Paul, I had a proximal Biceps tear beginning of September and a biceps Tenodesis about 8 weeks ago. I wanted to ask on your input on how safe/reliable the new attachment will be for the foreseeable future or whether I'll always have be extra careful with my new bicep attachment. I'm 30 years old and was very active prior to the injury. Played baseball for several years and now have focused on Golf/Soccer/Fitness. Is there anything in particular that I need to watch out for with these activities so I don't compromise my bicep? Thanks!

i predict in the future fewer people will get surgery on a distal tear. you can build lots of strength back without surgery. more than most people need. and nobody wants to be immobilized for weeks after surgery.

Do we know what MRI "special views" Dr Aronowitz was referring to that she uses to determine the extent of a Distal Biceps tear (which she stated a "routine" MRI may not be able to determine). Thank you.

5 weeks into post op exercise therapy after full top tendon rotator cuff tear and tenotomy, is it common to have front biceps pain during recovery this far into recovery and is it ongoing as strength training from weeks 7-12?

I have both injuries one is a rotator cuff partial tear. And a bicep tendon tear x 1year both on left side. I would like to repair the bicep asap because I have too much weakness on left arm anytime any lifting is done it seems to get a painful cramp.... let me know how to go about it thx

I had distal bicep surgery 4 weeks ago, how long should I expect to have swelling in my arm?

I had a long head tenodesis done last year. A few days ago while working outside I felt a large pop and I now have the “popeye” arm. Can that be surgically repaired or am I stuck with the sore bicep and abnormality?

Many people live a good long life with a torn long head. Some repair them and others don't. A decision to be made with your orthopedic surgeon. Good luck

I recommend strengthening your rotator cuffs, especially the supraspinatus you’ll be better off in the long run in terms of strength and quality of life. Keep you from rupturing the other one too 😉

@@OrthoEvalPal Also, a lot of NFL players wait 3 months to fix distal ruptures. Not sure why they can wait 3 months but it is only done 3 weeks out for normal people.

You said what the protocol was for distal biceps repair after surgery for rehab but you didn't say what the protocol was for proximal biceps repair after surgery. Do you have a link to another video or some type of material that we can look at? About to have proximal biceps repair and this will greatly be appreciated
@OrthoEvalPal
@OrthoEvalPal 3 года назад
Some surgeons just release the proximal tendon and let it go. Others do a tenodesis. It varies with the procedure. We don't often see isolated proximal tendon repairs. If it is done in conjunction with a rotator cuff repair we are more concerned with the rotator cuff. Just some caution not to flex the elbow with weight or turn the palm up with resistance for 4-6 weeks.

@@OrthoEvalPal I'm so sorry. I didn't clearly state myself. I was wondering what the rehab protocol was for proximal?
@24reyeser
@24reyeser 3 года назад
@@OrthoEvalPal I had two respectable top notch surgeons agree to fix my torn bicep. Why would you say that the isolated tenodesis is not typically done? Not trying to be critical but just want to learn. The surgeons that agreed to do it, one was top in the US for pro athletes the other also pretty good. One was hesitant but knows me for 10 years so he said you wanted then lets do it. I decided not to do it because of the rehab time required and danger of re-rupture. But the popeye deformity does bother me but I can live with it.

@@24reyeser, Are you still happy with your decision in not having the surgery or do you wish that you had?
@24reyeser
@24reyeser Год назад
@@samjarea probably should of had it. But some people that had it say bicep was 75% after surgery and before its like 40% looking so you have to weight the options. But for me looking back I should of done it.
