Although HoBao is probably more commonly known for their awesome ⅛ off-road buggies, they do actually have a pretty stacked line-up of radio control cars. Among the line-up is the new Hyper MT Plus II Monster Truck. This big brushless beast is a true monster fitting into the 1/7-scale class. Long chassis, big tires, plush suspension, great looking pick-up body and an impressive electronics package got our attention. So we had to try it out and of course give you all the details on its features in the process. The Plus II is a great basher for those who want something big, make sure you watch all the action, we ran the truck at a BMX track and bashing field, this truck throws dirt into the sky as it pulls off some big jumps. Want RC excitement, this might be the truck for you!

@@robertkaigler2200 very similar. On my xmaxx I have only broken a steering knuckle/ caster block, bumper support and one bearing. Did tear tires. This is over a dozen packs and crazy big air at construction sites and skate parks. Many stupid bad landings because it is lazy trying to back flip. Front flips beautiful. Most reliable rc I have. Hobao 1 broke rear shock piston from norm bashing. Did have esc issues caused a sever stutter with punch set above 5 that took a while to figure out causing rear internal diff gear to shatter. Ruined a few sets of center diff cases and gears because it doesn't like thicker than 750k center. The pins for spider gears wear into case locking up, distorting case and stripping out drive side sun gear. To sum up chassis wise about as durable, if not more, drivetrain weaker. but have run less than xmaxx, diff issues were caused by me going too thick for its design, stock esc doesn't like going above 5 for punch. Shame because with thicker center diff it is an absolute beast and was about to take my #1 spot. In currently trying to find different diff cases that fit to solve diff issue.

I Will be picking up the 80% ARR, will be gorilla taping the tires, 500k fluid in center diff, 100k fluid in F/R. Im glad to know about the heat issue I'm sure a heatsink/fan combo would keep everything in check, I'm gonna go with a 40-82 1600kv motor on 6s. I was waiting to see if arrma made the decision to go larger scale, but I waited long enough. Excellent review and advise on motor heat and,diff being grease filled

Hobao "ofna" make some pretty cool stuff. Love my hyper sse. Biggest catch is you gotta get pretty much all your parts online. But you wont be parts hunting much. Pretty darn tough machines 👍 my buggy atleast everything is thick and sturdy. Youll bend hinge pins before you bust an a-arm. Ive done it haha

@@cwatson42785 on this particular truck, hard to say. I did however find that they do have hobao parts in US stock! I found that nitrohouse.com carries both stock replacement parts and se hop up/ aluminum stuff as well.. that's where ibe ordered stuff for my hyper sse. Ive thrown on some aluminium chassis braces, lightened output diff cups front, center and rear, aluminum wing mount braces, different spur gear, few other things i cant think of haha.Soon to add the lightend chassis, ceramic bearing kit and maybe a few other things. Ebay too sometimes has some stuff. But i would go to nitrohouse and see if they carry parts for this badboy.. they've been fast with shipping and i got my stuff in a timely manner. I'd start there for parts support 👍

Its exactly the same rig with a different body and tires as the HoBao hyper MT sport.... Fantastically large and powerful rig! I run a castle mamba monster x and 2200kv sensored motpr and it is way fun!! Anyone who is thinking large scale and monster truck shpild look into this rig!!!

Does it have a center diff? Looks like it did when you showed the transmission gears. A center diff is essential in a Monster truck to save the front and rear gearbox’s

100k diff fluid in the front diff and center diff and 50 - 70k in the rear diff will stop most of the tyre bloat. I have a Hobao VS, it has greased diffs too, clean them out and run Team Associated diff fluid. Problem fixed.

@@zeeceefourovksk2837 I'd recommend 500k to 1 million in the center diff as well, I have a converted Savage XL with center diff and I use 500k but the tires still balloon at half throttle. But I am using a much larger motor. Also, this isn't direct drive as mentioned in the video, it has a transmission which contains a center diff so there is some gear reduction, therefore you might not need a really thick oil.

Odd choice in 20mm wheel hex. Thought they died off with the Losi 420 standard on the XXL series of trucks.

Correct. This is a stock out of the box review. Thinking about doing a follow up to show how to fill all the diffs to correct the diffing out issues.

Run one of the velcro straps of the lipos around the chassis so the battery dont fell of the tray during a crash.

Actually it is almost the same size as an xmaxx.... The body is much smaller which makes it appear smaller. Dimensionally identical, however...

My only issue is part availability. Working at a hobby shop we get people bringing in trucks/cars looking for parts only to get pissed off when we don’t carry or can’t get parts for them.

There are a lot of vehicles that fall into that category. It appears Tower has the truck listed so I'm guessing Horizon will have parts for shops. Plus HoBao does have a small office in the US, that I believe has parts stock that they sell through their site and on ebay.

Personally, I always hated slippers... I tighten them up all the way, disabling them. The secret is to just drive a little bit smoother and try to avoid the hard shocks to the driveline. This will make all the rotating parts last a lot longer anyway.

Slippers are great on 2wd.its tune is as important as tire choice. Center diff rules on 4wd. Something this big really needs to swap the grease for an oil tune on all 3 diffs. It won't "dance" as described in the vid. If this truck is anywhere near the size of my xmaxx, it will be direct competition

To add to the other guy, this isn't just a regular TVP CHASSIS, it's one solid unit connected on the bottom making it a U-Chassis and it's above and beyond the SAVAGE XL that needs to be put down and a new name for when they do finally get to relaunch again

so basically the truck can't be used to it's full potential due to inferior design and construction of drivetrain mostly leading to premature failure of parts which then can be thought to get. stay away from this one peeps. how can u fix the tire problem with oddball 20mm hexes, come on hobao? you used to sell indestructible buggies. (a zip tie to hold esc on? really?)
