An 18 year old can join the Army, be issued a weapon capable of full auto fire, lay their life on the line for this country....but when they go home they are treated like a criminal for wanting to buy the same type of weapon they trained with except it's not full auto. This is not only ridiculous, it's unconstitutional. May the politicians who pushed this into law rot in hell.
I certainly understand that rationale, however, an 18-year-old joining the army is given quite a bit of firearm training and is most likely someone that has some rational 'adult' thinking given that they chose to join military ranks. I have known many 18-year-olds, and many much older than 18, that I would not fully trust with a handgun. Just because someone is 18 doesn't mean they have an ounce of common sense.
18 is the legal voting age and, you become a free adult in society. The entire constitution is that persons right as enumerated within it. Cannot go all “pre-crime” and pre-emptive on ANYBODY. Because of one’s feelings about trust in another. A person’s rights are not subject to scrutiny really. If no crime has been committed. “SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED”!
Having to notify law enforcement wouldn't be an issue if law enforcement cared about our rights. But yet again , we should have never gave law enforcement/ government the reach and power they have.
Im 44, no criminal history and own many firearms. In September it took 33 days for my background check to be approved. The store policy I purchased the gun at was background checks can only be active for 29 days then they are canceled. I had to start all over thereby doubling the work for NICS and the store lost my business forever. I really feel like my 2nd Amendment Rights were taken from me on that one. How many other people is this happening to?
I owned a gun shop in Ohio for 25 years, if no response from NICS in 72 hours were were free to release the gun to the customer. Your state may be different.
I heard about this elsewhere, and appreciate your sharing here, thank you! 😊 This has to be unconstitutional, as a right delayed is a right denied, and it violates equal protection under the law, segregating 18-21 year olds as lesser citizens. But I guess it’s nothing new that the three branches of government fail to keep each other in check, but rather mostly march in lockstep. Here’s hoping the courts will make this right at some point.
I believe that 18 - 21 not being allowed to purchase rifles was ruled unconstitutional in California by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and ruled the same way in Texas as well.
@@jimwjohnq.public its a current law in Ny for semi autos and even Florida has a law about it. NY’s law has a subsection allowing current and former service members between those ages to purchase
@@bloodiedberserker7574 Seperation of government needs to be refreshed in your household. The courts got rid of the “government supported” idea of medical decisions being up to you and your doctor”. That being said I dont see a delay being a true impact on whether or not you have access to your second amendment rights for people 18-20 as you would still be able to take possession of them aslong as you can pass a NICS and your state laws permit you to take possession

I work in a sporting goods store, and sell firearms and ammo. We got our notice of the 18-21 delay last week. They’re being really funny kids. When you do your 4473, be sure to take your time, and fill it out truthful accurately.

Got denied by an unconstitutional system 2 years ago. Fast Forward a couple of years. Applied for a CCWP. Got it 2 weeks later, submitted not one but TWO background checks to law enforcement for my packet to become an Armorer. Passed with flying colors. Yet I can get denied my 2nd amendment right to legally buy a firearm. Riddle me that fedboys.
Anyone who is safe enough to be on the streets should be able to buy and own guns. Otherwise, you should probably be behind bars anyway. No, I'm not a felon, criminal, or the like.

@@WhiteBoyNick1 ccw holders get ran every month (wether u buy a gun or not) and the background check has more factors to it then a regular NICS check that non ccw get when purchasing a firearm.

@@gridtac2911 I purchased a dagger with 10 mags before the election. My wait time on the NICs was about 5 minutes. Now the system is so backed up that some people will not get their purchases in time. I'm glad that I thought ahead.
Not only do I believe in constitutional carry, I also believe in constitutional buying.. As long as one is freely walking the street they should also be free to own firearms. If they are not deemed fit enough for ownership, they should be in prison.
I remember in 2021 I was buying a rifle at 18 and done a background check and got it I got a call from my local police, department of treasury and the fbi as they think I was prohibited as they think I done a terrorist threat (I did not put it) on Twitter as I told them that someone hack my account and later haven’t heard from them
Local law enforcement will do nothing with the denied notices. Being denied is not proof of a crime being committed. Even if the police come to your house, you’re not obligated to talk to the police.
I can see denials being reported because on the background check form you have a series of yes or no questions that answering yes to any of them would mean you're not allowed to own a firearm at a federal so if you get denied chances are you lied on a federal form which is a felony either that or its a state specific law stopping stopping you, an error in the system, or you answered yes to a question but the FFL ran the background check anyway. But no matter the reason, there's no reason for law enforcement to have to contact you unless you lied on the form and at that point get an attorney and stfu. Now it's completely and total bullshit that someone is report just for being delayed. Me and two other people in my group of "range friends" are delayed every single time but it always comes back approved in the end and it's all because we have the same names as our dads who are prohibited persons. Now, thanks to crimes committed by someone else, and before some of us were even born, every time we buy a firearm it's report to the local police. It's like that for 3 out of the 12 people in my "range friends" group so I imagine it's going to be like that for hundreds of thousands if not (and more than likely) millions of people.
I’m in MS & we have the same thing. We’re constitutional carry but you can get a permit that allows you to carry in otherwise restricted areas & to just fill out the 4473 & go. Wonderful system that I fully support. My county is also a 2A sanctuary.
South Dakota also has that if you have a pistol permit you can skip the nics check. You don’t need it to own or carry but I thought that was pretty cool
Same for NC. But as far as I recall, no concealed permits issued to anyone under 21. I somehow bought a Smith model 28 when I was 18. Perhaps the laws were better then. I don't remember. I do remember the big gun did not fit in the console, in the glove box, nor under the seat of my 1978 Z-28!

I live in MA and I'm waiting for my LTC to come in the mail. I had a couple 10 year old things on my record from RI both non violent which I had expunged back in early March. I have confirmed record was erased on the RI state level at attorney general office and they relay to other federal agencies. I was ok'd and passed all checks through MA but im concerned when I get my check at a dealer it will be a no go.

You know I enlisted in the US ARMY at 17 years old. I attended Basic and AIT at 17 years old. As a Grunt (LRSU) do you have any idea what weapon systems were at our disposal? ALL of them in the US inventory with the exception of nukes………. At the age of 17, if I could wear the uniform I could drink alcohol on base…………..
We need background checks for buying a car or running for any political office. No under the age of 21 should be allowed to join the military either. Why should you be killed in action before you can even legally own a firearm.

I have an equivalent name to John Smith, im honestly terrified that they'll give me a really hard delay process. I heard one guys story from a friend and he said it was so complicated he literally had to sit down with government agents and convince them hes not the John Smith with 12 felonies
My last NICS check took 5 minutes, and I'm out the door, in 2019. No way would I do one now, for any reason. Denied, they contact your police department. Never again.
So now all they need to do is add one line of computer code to NICS to create a federal firearms registry: all submissions are delayed. What if you already have a U Pin and you get a delay!? That just happened to me. I have a upin. And when I go to buy a gun or rifle, they usually take like 1 hour to sell me the weapon. But today I got a delay! Do I need to renew my UPIN!??????

I mean... these are the Canadian laws i've lived with since my first firearm purchase at 18. Firearm owners literally get vetted daily here, especially restricted firearms owners which also require different courses and vetting to own/operate. Its stupid... i know... as criminals don't follow rules.. but the US is seriously following suit for our Canadian gun regulations and its stupid because it's not like Canadian criminals follow rules either.

Your address will automatically be submitted to NICS so they have it available to them in case you are denied. IF you are denied, your address will then be sent to local LE. Otherwise, it is deleted from their record with the rest of your information after the form expiration date. At least, that is what we are told...

Just buying one, and doing the paperwork, basically entitles them to come in your house and check your stuff whenever they want. And if you want to take it to another state, you have to tell your state, the other state you're going to, and any you might be going through as well. Might even have to get permission, but idk about that part. It's a very sketchy line, and as someone that doesn't like to walk flaming ropes, I'm staying away from them for now. Until they're removed from(or it's repealed) the NFA at least
I'm over the age of 21 but I get delayed every time I make a purchase. Will I have to wait for my information to be submitted to local law enforcement before my BC goes through and I can take my gun home?
I can't understand why there isn't an online NICS that sends back a blanket approval code for any gun/guns of any kind at any dealership within a specific period of time. Then the buyer can just take the code to the dealership, sign off on the NO/YES form, and buy the gun/guns. All the dealer would then do is enter the code, verify the Drivers License, and enter the gun and serial number. It would totally eliminate the need for the call and reentry of information, and get rid of some of the red tape for the dealer. It would also get rid of that "I wonder if they'll approve" feeling that everyone has when they go in the gun store. I got a question...Why do i keep hearing about if you have ever held a secret clearance you'll get delayed? I got delayed on Sat and before i even sent the background i told them I'm not worried cause i used to have a Clearance they said you will probably get delayed then...and i did
i am 19. i had a gun (long barrel rifle) shipped to my local ffl and i was waiting on it for 2 weeks. It finally gets there and i was super excited to go pick it up. Mind you i’ve done this a few times before this. When i get there they ask me for my license and my permit. I was confused as i do not have a permit, nor need one to by long barreled guns. They told me they had to call it in to the FBI and they did so. The FBI said i’m delayed for another week until they call my ffl and told them my background is good. My ffl told me they could call and even extend the delay. I was really confused because ive never ever ever had to do that and i thought they just didn’t want to give me the gun because they didn’t know their laws. I guess i’m the one who didn’t know the law because what kind of absolute bullshit is this. Another week+ i’ll be waiting for a gun a couldve walked out with right there and then.

Get that every single time now. I don’t have the license and won’t get one because it is unconstitutional and just down right wrong. I always have to wait 3 days now and I literally expect nothing less at this point.
An 18 year old can join the military and have access to much deadlier weapons and training to use them, but the government can void their 2d amendment rights.

Are the purchase records destroyed after a set amount of time or are they kept forever? When I was a kid I think I heard records were destroyed after a set amount of time because databases were illegal. Also ca made me register my shotgun and also passed a law saying we had to register all our long guns purchased previously. Is that ca only BS?
Hi went to buy a gun, and filled out a 4473 electronic form (not paper) but I apparently made a mistake or mis understood the question, and they told me that I hace to wait 30 days to retake the form, should I be worried about it, I have clean record.
I have been delayed my last 2 purchases and only received my firearms due to the Brady law saving me. I’m not a felon and never have been charged for a felony and can barely get them. Our government knows what they’re doing and it’s disgusting!
I purchased on Black Friday from a local shop and I was instantly delayed. Was told to come in on the December 1st if I didn’t hear anything before then. I came in and they told me background check was delayed till the tenth! I just wanna shoot skeet..
So if the FBI denies, or delays the purchase, the FFL has to send the address of the person to the FBI? The person's address is literally on the 4473, which the FBI already has! This is amazing, lol.
@@LuvBorderCollies Exactly. Theres 100’s of people at minimum that share names, only you have that number. Also probably the last place to have your identity stolen from(or you need a new FFL) and your SSN should be frozen at each credit bureau anyway nowadays

They are slowly doing away with the 18 for long gun, 21 for pistol. It’s just a matter of time before you’ll have to be 21 to purchase any type of firearm.

I'm manager of a gun store in NC and had my first "under 21 attempted sale" the other day. He got delayed 10 days and I had to type in his address. He wasn't pleased, and rightfully so!

I will say that I'm just doing my job, and you will say that many evil groups in history have said that to justify evil actions. But think of it like this: we have 280 guns for sale right now. If we ignored this stupid new law, how many guns do you think we'd sell before our FFL got stripped? No FFL, no business. BUT if we play along, as much as we disagree with the new legislation, we will be able to sell more firearms in the long run. We will sell the current inventory and use the profits to buy more inventory, and so on. Selling more firearms means more people have the means to defend their freedoms against a tyrannical government (in the event that ever occurred...). And remember, there is always large flea markets where you can always find a few tables selling private sale firearms, the only paperwork required are some pieces of paper with numbers and a president's portrait on them
Don't put your SSN on the form 4473 (it says optional). NICS has no need for it. I never have, and never been denied or delayed. And besides, my SSN card says 'for tax purposes only, not for identification.'
Same here and im 66. I get turned down every time with a not too common name, because there is someone who is a felon with the same name. He is black and I am white, should be easy to tell the difference
I know the background check system is a disaster because I've never been arrested never had any sort of legal problem I bought many guns with Nary a problem until a few months ago I got hit with an undetermined status meaning they can't find a legal reason to deny me but they're going to deny me anyway so I had to file a challenge which took several months finally got it all cleared up and still don't have a reason as to why but the only thing that me and my FFL could come up with is that they don't like the amount of firearms that I own.
Anyone ever read that warning on the top of the 4473 form. I’m sure it’s there. I always laugh at the idiocy of some of the questions, specifically “ Well since you asked, yes I am a fugitive from justice”.
