@@js-gstrength4190 he has had multiple operations done on his knees and legs. injured too many times. lets see you squat the same weight deeper far into your 40s. also depth is not usually checked in strongman
Always great to see new Big Z content! Not only entertained by his sheer strength and calm demeanor, but I always pick something up to help my own training. I use bands around the knees to warm up, but hadn't considered using one during all sets, and I have a nagging adductor strain that won't go away. Going to give it a shot! Thanks Z!
Just a solid leg workout to emulate or base workouts around. Obviously not the weight but the movements. Start - Compound movement going heavy, then concentrate on other muscles. There is a video with hip thrusts on this Chanel where he goes massive heavy. The best advice here (and previously on other videos) for me is in the understated details. Don’t rush. Strong Glutes make for a strong squat. Go as heavy as you feel. Pushing more reps builds stamina. Lots of sets. Lots of reps. Short rest. And Big Z hints at changing exercises regularly. See he’s not locking out the knees on the leg press (common rookie mistake I see sometimes). His breathing is just perfect and uniform every rep. I love the way he just imparts knowledge subtly without the BS. These videos are simply filled with gold. Solid, champion grade gold for any lifter.
I am surprised that rest between sets is one or two minutes. 3 on heavy sets. I do 3 mins and then 5... Also, i like the cable kickback. I will try your way. 🙂
I met him last week on Saturday as there was a strongman competition in my area and he happend to be there as a helper and a ref near the end people wear going to take pictures with him so I took the chance and it was the best thing that has ever happend so my dad took the photo and it was like standing next to a massive bolder.after the photo was taken I shook his hand and thanked him for letting me have a photo and it felt like giving a brick a handshake 😂.I can tell you know I wish you were there to meet him too he is a very approachable person very humble.theres so many words to use to describe how amazing he is.
Agreed. I have been building weight to push personal best every week, and 2 just minutes rest between sets. I’m building muscle and loosing fat - many said it can’t be done. You either build muscle - or - loose weight. Short rest spikes the heart rate, builds stamina and fitness - heavy weight builds strength. I’m getting all round stronger, fitter, leaner and can say… it works.
@@PaterExcelsior Yes, and I found what Big Z said is valid ; about 3 minutes max rest for your max sets but otherwise 1 to 2 minutes rests for warm up and submaximal sets. The result is that I'm getting stronger in 30 minutes than I was in 1.5 to 2.5 hours when I took long rests.I'm fitter too at the same time and got conditioned to short rest periods. I honestly dont even feel much cortisol kicking in afterwards even though the workout feels like a sprint but ready for heavy sets after 10 to 12 minutes it's all about high stimulus/low fatigue. I do supersets to get the accessories done quickly. 30m max strength workout atm and can manage 30 sets on lighter days and 20 to 25 sets on heavy lifting days.I never thought 30 minutes was enough but it works for me too.
How to dig a deep grave hole for the Powerlifter athletes as their max PB squat on the stage got 1000 times defeated by Mr Big Z's daily training squat 🤣. This is GOAT right here 😁👍
That depends on the events and the competition. Static lifting and overhead power is unmatched but the younger lads - the Stoltmans, Novikov etc are strong and now experienced / hungry. He’s quick, but younger, fresher men may have the edge now. He’s had some injuries over the years too - and he’s nearly 47… Perhaps a few record attempts. Log Lift perhaps. Can be done with specific dedicated training if he’s quick about it. I’d like to see him represent the sport now. Ambassador / referee / consultant / judge / promote. Perhaps get around and meet his fans?
@@PaterExcelsior don't think he could match the younger guys on static strength nowadays. He could not log press that much anymore. His nerve damage was not career ending, but kicked him out of his place on the top 3 strongmen.
