iwantmillet The acceleration would require a lot of time in comparison of a middle sized engine in a small vehicle, look at planes and supercars, if you put a supercar besides the Jet/Plane etc. The Supercar will accelerate faster than the plane.
impresive for a 10,000 + lbs Monster Truck to do 8.6 on a 1/8 mile racetrack and with a gasoline fueled V8 engine, not a diesel. I am thinking on making a drag race ,short school bus, a '60s FORD B-600 with a 6 row school bus body and I do not want to stuff a big diesel engine on it just because diesels got torque. If I can get that bus to weigh just 8,000 lbs an engine like the one in BIG FOOT might serve me well.
***** That's not what I said, I said he would have been faster, meaning his time would have been faster. I personally race 1/8th mile so I know the difference.
Too bad they didnt regear those trucks for the 1/4 mile. Massive difference between a 200' dirt track where you need lots of Torque, and a 2000' asphalt track, where you need top Speed.
+Syrus54 HP is a rate of how fast power is being made - it's a mathematical calculation Torque is physical forced measured , I prefer the physical force number.
they should have raced a chevy nova or something very common for the race track to show how that huge truck is just as fast. they say 0-60 in a monster truck is 3 seconds now so thats fast as most ferraris and lambo's
It has an afterburner. It basically dumps fuel and ignites it at the rear of the engine which provides a huge increase in thrust as compared to a jet engine running dry without one.
+Stealth Bobber all of what both of the replies said still apply to the Jet cars that don't have good 60 foot times, the OP meant this one looked like it did BUT I'd suggest it was just because BIGFOOT looked even slower
Wow this was awesome! I see Bigfoot went 70.19 mph against the jet car, but I couldn't quite read the scoreboard on the race against Snake Bite. Anyone know how fast those first passes were?
Are you kidding??? That's flying for truck that weights at the very least 8,000 pounds (likely closer to the 10,000 competition minimum) with all that rotating, unsprung weight, not to mention hard, ill-suited tires.
If had a big red monster Truck i would call it the 🔥DemoN i would use it to be the Monster Jam shows on the drit Track to race and do backflips and frontflips.
Um, I dont know what the other guy is saying, but they do a burnout at the beginning to warm up the tires so the tire compound is stickier and you get a better launch. Not to "look cool." They then back up to the starting line for the race.
