In this review, I'm going to take a look at another beer from the Creature Comforts Brewing Company (‪@creaturecomfortsbrewingco.369‬), and it's their Bigger Dreams, which is a Hazy IPA. I've only had one beer from Creature Comforts, and it was pretty good, so I'm expecting this one to be much of the same. Let's see how it is! I also want to give a huge thanks to my buddy, and viewer of the channel, Wes (‪@dwesjones‬), for this beer!

I like extra carbonated beers....would try it - nice review

Then you'd like this one a lot, haha! Almost seltzer-level carbonation. It brought it down for me, but it might bring up the score and feelings for you, haha! Thanks, dude! Cheers!

Hey Joe! This has been the other beer I've been rotating out with Scofflaw Basement IPA that you reviewed from the last box and I wanted to see what you thought. I agree it's a little too carbonated for the style, I wish it was more in that creamy hazy realm. Tropicalia is their other big flagship IPA that's in that world of Jai Alia and Two Hearted Ale. Maybe I'll send that one next time. 😅

TROPICALIA! That was the name of the beer that was escaping me in the review. That's the beer I heard a lot about when it comes to Creature Comforts. Would totally be awesome to try it out! Yeah, I think the carbonation is what brings this one down because the flavors are there. Just a bit thin with too much carbonation. Still not bad, and for the price point, it's hard to beat. Appreciate you throwing this one in the beer mail. It was fun to try, buddy! Thanks, again! Cheers, Wes!

@@averagejoe716 It's all good, thanks for giving it a go! I should have sent a can of Tropicalia in this box instead of two cans of Bigger Dreams. Always next time!

Dude, I appreciate your generosity and another can of this won't go to waste at all. I'll share it with some friends in the next week or two. I'm sure they'll enjoy it. As I just told Curtis in the other comment, I'm just humbled by your guys' generosity. Without your kindness, I don't get a chance to try Creature Comforts, Two Tides, etc. So damn cool, and I can't thank you enough!

Love the channel! Quick question, what do you mean when you say “shelfie”?
@averagejoe716
@averagejoe716 Месяц назад
Thanks, John! Appreciate the kinds words. As for what a "shelfie" beer is ... it's all up for debate, but the way I view it is a beer that is easily accessible from a bigger regional/national/international brewery. Basically, anything that you can grab at your favorite beer store or even grocery store without the need to wait in line or hope it doesn't sell out instantly. Nothing that is brewery-only. I know that a lot of beer qualifies as a "shelfie" nowadays, so the definition is open for interpretation. This beer tasted akin to a Hazy IPA you'd get from the Sierra Nevada, Victory, Sixpoint and Great Lakes of the world, just to name a few. Hope this helps! Cheers, man!

Bummer that this one was just ok. On that same trip to Savannah where I mentioned Two Tides I also had Tropicali from Creature Comforts which is their flagship West Coast IPA (6.6%) and I enjoyed that beer. I checked Untappd and I gave it a 4 but from my memory it would be more like a 4.15. When you were unboxing I was really hoping Wes sent a hazy IPA or two from Two Tides because those were superb, but I also had a fruited sour which was very good (a style I normally don’t care for unless it’s Belgian style) and a pilsner that was really good as well, so they just make good beer all around.

Tropicalia, right? That was the name of the beer that I forgot. Whenever I'd hear about Creature Comforts, that was the beer folks mentioned. I hope I get the chance to try it someday. Sounds wonderful to me! As for this beer, the mouthfeel is what really knocked it down for me in terms of enjoyability. I think the flavor is actually quite good, but the mouthfeel just killed the vibe to some degree. If not for that, I would've really enjoyed this one. As for the Two Tides beers, he sent me a DIPA last year called 100 Classic Comfort Meals. Mouthfeel was lacking a bit, but it was fantastic overall. Really dug it. Their Fruited Sours, however, were top-notch. I was happy he sent me a lot of the collabs from their anniversary this year. Much like yourself and so many others, I'm just humbled by the generosity of all you guys. It's really cool being able to try all this cool beer from around the country that I wouldn't otherwise get my hands on. If not for Wes, I wouldn't even know what Two Tides is all about. It's so damn cool! Cheers, Curtis!

@@averagejoe716 Good on Wes for sending it! I must have missed that one last year but glad he sent an IPA from them your way before to try. It’s a bummer about the mouthfeel on this one but at least the flavor was still good. It is cool that so many different people send beer your way from all over the country, and it’s fun to see. You’re a great dude who does a great job reviewing beer so it makes sense to me. 😁

Yeah, the flavors were there, but the mouthfeel didn't give off the same vibe as top-tier hazy beers. I still thoroughly enjoyed it, though. It's wild folks enjoy the reviews and want to hear my opinion on beers. Never thought I'd see the day, but it's definitely cool. I love chatting up beer, in general, so the best thing that comes out of the beer mails is the conversations I have with all of you. So much fun!

@@averagejoe716 Agreed! The beer convos are always the best part. It’s fun to chat about. I think a lot of us care way too much about beer so it’s cool to converse with other people who are also way too nerdy about beer. Lol. Most people are like “Yeah that’s good.” and that’s that, but us on here want to dive deeper.

Great way to explain it. It's like any other hobby. You have varying levels of interest. Some folks just want to try different beer and drink it, and others love to explore further. You have to be an uber nerd to watch beer reviews on RU-vid, and I'm definitely one of those guys. How about the guys who actually review the beers on RU-vid? Those guys are crazy, LMAO!

It is hard to rate a beer when its old. It sounds like a decent beer when it is fresh.
@averagejoe716
@averagejoe716 Месяц назад
True, but it wasn't that old. I've had IPA/DIPAs that were four or five months old that held up, so I don't think it would've been much better fresh. Plus, it had a "best by" date of 08/07/24, so according to the brewery, it still had some time. Just think it was a beer that wasn't exactly what I was hoping for. Solid, but could've been real good with a better mouthfeel. Cheers, brother!

ok, so I lived in GA a bit and Creature Comforrts made what I considered the first legit hazy in GA and it was called Crescendo. I kicked that keg then went to another place the next day to put that keg down. It was awesome. Like on Other Half level..... so they released the beer again a few months later and it tasted like the 1st batch but sat around for a few months. This beer was opaque AF.... they made it again and I think this was the real second batch plus and it was shit. Not the same beer... it was semi transparent like the one you are drinking now... I even looked at my untapped pic vs the pics now. I don't get it...I think they kept the same brewer....they didn't size up. They had a legit great hazy then shit all over it. I don't understand it.

Damn, that's a wild story. I haven't heard much about Creature Comforts outside of what a few friends in the South told me before, and I was always hoping to try their stuff, so I'm pumped I'm able to. That said, I wish this beer was like the OG of Crescendo. Would've definitely been in my wheelhouse. I do want to try Tropicalia just to say that I've done so, haha! Cheers, man!
