It would be nice to see the same theme done yet again, but having the percentage of soldiers by country population to be the "racing" value. Like, how many percent of a country population is dedicated to it',s army?

This would have been even better if you could flash up events that contribute to certain spikes in numbers. Specifically here would be the start and stop of wars for example. I know there can be a lot of minutia for that kind of thing, but some globally impacting events would be great for context.

Turkey was there from the beginning of the list, it's crazy

Britain also had massive numbers of personnel in the Royal Navy in both World Wars. Even in peacetime it generally ranged between 150,000-250,000 personnel. In WWII, for instance, over 1,000,000 RN personnel were active across it's duration. 60,000 and more of them died. It was in the fight all the way.

I've always known that data is, indeed, beautiful but this cemented that fact in my mind. Very interesting. Weird to watch the numbers jump up and down rapidly at key points in history. It kind of makes you wonder if you could travel back in time and intervene at precise moments, if you could stop a lot of pain, suffering and bloodshed. But even if time travel were possible, it still feels like time/timelines would find a way to course correct and have the same or a similar outcome - the past is set in stone - but the future is wet clay. Also, I didn't know Ukraine's army was that close in size to Russia's - they almost surpassed them at one point. I mean, they're definitely outnumbered and by more than Egypt's entire army. But I would have thought Russia had more and Ukraine less. Ukraine really reinforced their numbers lately. I guess army sizes around the world is a topic I haven't delved as deeply into as other topics.

Those US numbers from 1945 to 1948 are staggering. You've got 90% of the military looking for a job during that time. No wonder industry was booming at that time!

Assuming the color of the bars corresponds to continent of origin, I can hear the argument for Turkey being European (technically a minority of it is and it “acts European” for the majority of this timeline) but I really am just baffled at Mexico being labeled as South American. The only way I can see to justify this is calling the green bars all of the Americas with USA having its own blue bar.

Military “spending” is not a good measure of anything. The USA uses private for profit companies to make its weapons and this spends a lot. Other countries, their military hardware is produced by the government itself. So spending is a fraction of what the USA pays.

The flag of Germany is not correct for most of the time. And the size of German armed forces were reduced to 100000 men in 1919 as a condition of the Treaty of Versailles.
