Ride the bike train to White Haven, Pennsylvania and then bike 25 miles back to Jim Thorpe on this adventure that takes you through beautiful Lehigh Gorge State Park. You’ll see waterfalls and rafters on the Lehigh River, a Class 3 river, alongside the historic rail trail. The trail is filled with ruins of the coal mining and timber industries. This ride took place June 13, 2021.

Hi Don. Thanks for being our #1 fan. This is a great trail and the train ride was a nice change. Let us know about the Greenbrier Trail -- that's on our list probably next year. We're off to Burlington, VT and the Cape over the next few months.

What a gorgeous location! Thank you for sharing. I like the idea of a downhill ride and also the rhododendrons (remember - July).
@Adventuresonebikes
@Adventuresonebikes 11 месяцев назад
Hi. We just went back to this trail a few weeks ago looking for the rhododendrons. We didn't see many, or evidence that we'd missed the bloom. We've come to the conclusion that there isn't a spectacular display because these are wild rhodies and won't bloom like the ones we buy commercially. Thanks for watching.
@here_we_go_again2571
@here_we_go_again2571 11 месяцев назад
@@Adventuresonebikes I thought the rhodies in that area may have been the wild ones. Once when my daughter and I went to Falling Water (in Pennsylvania) quite a few were blooming; but those were not as showy as the garden varity. Thanks for replying.

We stopped by the trail again just a few weeks ago. They’ve done a lot of work on the White Haven parking area and the top of the trail. It’s really beautiful. If you are in the area, it’s definitely worth checking out. I hope you get a chance to ride it.

@Adventuresonebikes
@Adventuresonebikes 2 года назад
The ride is pretty much down hill. The train ride up is about 45 minutes. Then the 25 mile ride can certainly be completed in a couple of hours. We probably took 3 because we stopped to enjoy the scenery frequently.

We weren't able to stay in Jim Thorpe, but we stayed about 1/2 hour away at a Marriott property and we didn't have any difficulty getting the bikes to the room. Thanks for watching.

Hello, How narrow is the gate opening along the trail? I'm asking for someone with special needs. They are riding a trike that is 33" wide. Thanks in advance.
@Adventuresonebikes
@Adventuresonebikes 8 месяцев назад
Hi. Are you referring to the gate in the beginning of the video? They've done some reconstruction of that area since this video was made -- there may not be the same gate there now. I'd suggest you contact Lehigh George State Park to get your answers. Here's a link that I found to them: www.dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/LehighGorgeStatePark/Pages/default.aspx. Thanks for watching.

heading up here in September. We are going to bike this trail. Will we be missing out on some of the beauty in September? I hear the waterfalls and rivers aren't as full
@Adventuresonebikes

Hi. Thanks for watching. I haven't been on the trail in September so I'm not sure what you might see. With all the rain PA has gotten this year I'm guessing you will see a lot of water. Have fun and let us know how the ride is.

It’s not a very long trail and has the river on one side and a cliff on the other. I don’t recall seeing any camping on the trail. I believe there is camping in White Haven.

Did you see a lot of e bikes on the train? Hopefully they don't ban them due to the battery fires issue.
@Adventuresonebikes
@Adventuresonebikes 11 месяцев назад
There were a fair amount of ebikes on the train. It’s an open car, so I don’t know if they are concerned with battery fires. We thought they might make us remove the batteries - more for the weight of lifting than fire concerns, but they didn’t. I think the majority of the fires take place during the charging process, but I’ll have to research that a little further.
@Adventuresonebikes
@Adventuresonebikes 11 месяцев назад
Here’s an article I found you may find interesting on how to prevent e-bike fires: www.juicedbikes.com/blogs/news/how-to-avoid-electric-bike-battery-fires . I couldn’t find any articles that talk about the bikes we ride catching fire (which makes me feel better.)

@@pedrofernandez8729 We plan to ride the Hiawatha before the end of 2023! We’ve ridden about 1300 miles on our gazelles. Not sure how many miles we put on our first bikes.

@@Adventuresonebikes Sorry for the question but I've always wondered if the Gazelles are made in the Netherlands or in China like most are? I am so looking forward to your Hiawatha trip, there are really ZERO good YT videos on riding e bikes there. And I know you guys will do an excellent job.🤩

I think PA likes to compare to other places -- they have the Grand Canyon of PA, which the Pine Creek Rail Trail rides through. Randy asked me, "when are we going to see the Grand Canyon." I had to tell him we'd been riding in it all day. :)
