This is I think the longest video we have put out. My apologies that it is so long, but there was nothing that could really be cut out of this video. Has to be the best route we have ever taken. Thank you all for watching.

@@southernebiking you are exactly right. E-bikes are a terrific if not the best way to see the Monuments/Memorials in DC! Thanks for the suggestion. Had a great in from Bethesda and then spending some time at each stop.

@@marcusrawls2125 love it that you enjoyed it. That is an iconic place. I don’t agree with much from today’s politicians, but the system we have is the best in the world. And this town represents that. We also stayed in Bethesda and there is a trail that leads right into downtown from there.

Love that on the bridge they have bike lanes and ped lanes. Wish more trails had that. Was out riding yesterday morning and was headed toward 2 dog walkers with 2 dogs each taking up the entire trail and thought they were never going to make a path.

Of all the places we have ridden, I have never seen anywhere with a better biking infrastructure. It truly would be easier to get around there on a bike then in a car. Again thanks for watching.

EPIC!!! A few random observations: • Although he basically originated the idea of "separation of church and state" by simply using that phrase in a letter, I was reminded of how specific Jefferson was with regard to God and religion in those quotes inside the memorial. Sadly, I can't imagine many politicians being willing to say things like that today. • Only time I ever actually visited the memorials was back in 1984...during the Reagan administration! • I thought there for a second you were gonna end up on one of those police body cam videos 😆 • So now you know that the Cheetah can also handle The Swamp. 😏

Yep. As I understand it the separation of church and state so that the state would not come in and require everybody for a particular church. That sure has been twisted. Yeah, Secret Service would’ve never caught up to me. They had regular bikes, not E bikes. Of course, they do have radios, and guns, and helicopters. Maybe I’m glad I stop. Thanks for watching Scott. Fantastic video! Thanks for the views over by Nat's stadium I haven't been there yet so it was neat to see. Oh tell the missus she had no worries about climbing the steps and the Washington Monument, they've been closed to visitors for decades - it's elevator rides only. And the Ellipse - yes it's been closed to public cars for a while now - I think they needed more parking for Govt workers. The park is a great place to visit, especially around Christmas when the National Christmas Tree and the state trees are all decorated (though it's usually too cold for ebike riding IMHO). ETA: Why did you put your light under your kickstand? (when you were in front of the Capitol)

Thanks much. We enjoyed the heck out of this ride. Couldn’t really understand why Michelle was saying that as she just returned from a 5 mile hike just now. Also could not understand why the Secret Service stopped me from being right there and then he said you can go ride around this gate and go through. L O L typical government for you I guess. I put the light underneath of the kickstand so that the bike would stand up straighter as Michelle was taking some photographs of it. Thanks much for watching.

I wish all states would have a better biking road structure, I was out in San Diego to visit my daughter unbelievable bike lanes out there.

Where did you end up staying?

We stayed at an Airbnb in Bethesda. It was two blocks from a bike trail that would’ve carried us all the way into downtown DC. We had a route selected there but it would be a bit over 40 miles. We decided to haul the bikes, a little bit closer as we were not sure how much time we would be spending looking at the monuments. I believe we could’ve made the longer ride but we did not know that at the time and, of course, hindsight is 2020. Again thanks for watching. Enjoy the rest of the evening.
