Can we all take a moment and appreciate allenpalin's ability to find all of these video clips and perfectly match them with Billy Redfaces' commentary!? As always, well done!
@Foot L Johnson Not really? Sure it's 'easy' to find, but he'd have to scour through hours of episodes to find the specific scenes that Bill is talking about. It takes a lot more work than downloading -all- of the episodes, having to look through all of it for about a minute or two of footage is serious dedication.
Rod Serling was known to be fanatic for proper light and shadow. Comparing this to even the first five episodes of TZ is like night and day. I’ll see myself out...
He remembers some tv show theme song he heard like 30 years ago perfectly. The way he tells the story he strongly implies he hasn't looked it up on youtube and memorized it too.
Loved that game...you were good if you could change into the boat , then back to the car...lol...oil slick and smokescreen.....and Peter Gunn soundtrack...great Big Band sound....love Billy Boy too
That was the goal. And I also think the show may have looked better on those specific period TV sets. Kind of like how PS2/XBOX and generations before it look way better on CRT TVs than they do on current TVs. Hell Light Gun Games don't even work with modern TVs. Need a separate camera. End of an era.
I used to play the theme for this show on trumpet way back in the day as a young lad, never knew what it was for until now, when I heard the theme I got transported back to 5th grade.
1:30 that is 2 separate light sources casting the shadows to two directions .....like the pics of the moonlanding. All shadows from a single lightsource go the same direction
The Fast and the furious has a couple of poorly edited scenes in it too. Shadow of the camera crew can be seen on the street at the beginning of the movie on the first hiest. Also the same extra is shown behind Brian and behind torreto who are facing each other after their first race when Paul walker blows out the welds on the intake and there's other poorly edited scenes. Still one of my favorite movies though
I agree the shadows become a bit distracting and comedic but for the most part the lighting was very well designed. Most of the episodes took place at night and it’s film noir style so that would explain a lot about the lighting in the shadows. I think the Mancini theme song is brilliant, I feel didn’t like this version of it he could’ve certainly found dozens of other better versions of it if he’s wanting to find the perfect version. Actually Mancini did the best version. I probably have 40 versions of the song in my record collection. By the way, I think the series had the coolest jazz, such a great Era of music that fit perfectly with the TV series. Yes, I agree with Bill, this is really amazing that in 22 minutes they could have a crime and solve it.
Old school B&W movies used super hard key lighting and not much fill. I’m no DP but I read that somewhere and if u watch a lot of those old movies there’s always tons of shadows. I think it’s called hard lighting as opposed to more modern soft lighting.
