I was in that show, you were incredible! Loved having you, and yes they have relaxed a lot in the past 5 years in terms of censorship and what can and cannot be said, you can actually push the envelope further with your standup next time and not worry. These rules are already outdated.
I’m from Abu Dhabi, I’ve been a huge fan of Bill for 15 years. I was waiting a long time for bill to finally come here and it was a blast bill crushed it. As for the censorship people are still not used to comedy especially when it’s unfiltered. But there is progress here and someday people will appreciate comedy as it is without censorship. And yes we call the body of water mostly surrounded by Arab countries the Arabian gulf 😂

He went on a rant about the submarine imploding by the titanic, which had the Burr trademark roasting. He lovingly took the piss out of so much. As an American that lived in Abu Dhabi for 5 years, I can honestly say that I absolutely love the UAE and miss the country and the Emiratis very much 🇦🇪 💚 The US could learn a lot from that country…
On my way back from New Zealand in 2016 I spent 4 days in Dubai in the month of January the temperature was an average of 23c which was just right for me as I cant stand the heat. I wish I had spent a few days more. I was informed by a couple of hotel staff not to go to a shia area (apparently poor areas). There was a waitrose near where I stayed and an area of it which said Non Muslims only because you could purchase pork products (bacon sausages and ham). There were also 2 churches 1 protestant and 1 Catholic and a Hindu temple and a Sikh temple. I only met 2 Emiratis. The Hotel staff were Management- European Front Desk and coffee shop - European and Phillipino Restaurant - Phillipino and others (not sure of their ethnicity) Porters - Indian. There was 1 Emirati lady who wore the traditional dress a very nice long dress no head covering she represented the Emiratis The taxi drivers were Somalian and Pakistani The building labourers the few I saw looked like Bangladeshis I dont know what ethnicity the Street cleaners were. The food was excellent but it is an expensive to visit.
It IS Persian Gulf Bill, and you were right about that. You've read it in you history books and it is all over every official source. One cannot simply change historical facts and names just because they don't like it. Most Arabs don't like Iranians (and vice versa) so they just want to rename the Persian Gulf to make it their own. Visiting the Middle East during the summer is a huge mistake. We usually vacation in Turkey or other parts of Europe during the summer to cool off. Great rant Bill, always fun listening to you.
As an Arab I can tell you, if you're invited that means they see your content online and enjoy it for what it is, you don't have to change it up or tweak it to better fit the region you visit. I was in Dubai for 2 months in 2021 and my dream is to move there and start a family. I loved it so much I wake up and listen to Kris Fade every day before going to the gym just so I can stay acquianted.

Dubai a great place, .... if you're a rich Arab or white. I worked as an civil engineer with an UK consultancy company. It was grim the way the way low level immigrant (especially Indian and Chinese) construction workers are basically locked up every evening, passports taken off them and often not paid. I met a group from China , they try earn some money to send home but in fact don't get the chance to as they can't open bank accounts, afford a flight home and in fact can't as they don't have their passport. One man was close to tears as he hadn't heard from his wife, parents or kid in years and there was no one back in China to earn a wage. He seriously regretted coming to Dubai but no couldn't leave. It is basically modern slavery! The hypocrisy of western architectural and construction companies who know this is going on yet turn a blind eye to sickens me, especially when they bang on about gender and ethnic diversity.
Always visit the Emirates between Dec-March. That's when you get the best cool and breezy weather. Better yet, you get more local audience since that's the period where they get the least amount of tourists.
Bill burr was not doing any of his controversial material. So it was really American jokes about stuff particular to America. None of the women jokes, fat people jokes, nothing that he is known for like the too many people jokes and the German jokes
