Billy Idol's only guest appearance on Late Night. Here are the complete two segments. NOTE: The short clip of "Dancing With Myself" was recently blocked. So it's been deleted in this re-up.
I had a similar atitude like Billy Idol but my parents and trash school sistem destroyed the last parts of me.. Now im a depresed no lifer... Only ashes remain of my great character... Ooof
I wish more interviews were like this; you see so much more of a person when they just say what they want without caring😂it’s actually really interesting and refreshing
Billy idol is just such a genuine human being. He just isn’t afraid to be himself no matter who’s watching him. It’s a rare thing in this world now to just be completely you.
Billy Idol fucken rocks 🎸 and good for him for being high as a kite! I would love to hang out with Billy and pretty much do whatever he wants, he's Billy fucken Idol for crying out loud! At least he's himself and he doesn't pretend to be someone he's not, and in my book, that's alright by me!!! Love you Billy 💗
Yeah. He sure was high for this interview. And to be honest, I probably was too when I saw it back in 84. But in his recent interviews you can see that he is a different man and has really cleaned up his act. I was born in 1960, and he a little earlier I believe. I am glad he cleaned up and is still rocking on.
@@Est_199X Well, it was a lot of fun. I did party a lot to the music of the 80's. But, in no way did I party as hard as Billy, otherwise I don't think I'd be around today. Billy was fortunate... several rockers from his generation who partied as hard as he did didn't make it to rock on later in their lives.
@@sal1960caldo oh wow, I'm a 90s baby but I've always been fascinated with the 80s especially the music. But yea I definitely agree I'm glad Billy is still here AND a grandpa now ❤
Reading "Dancing With Myself" right now, at the time he was obviously off his tree. Struggling with all sorts of addiction issues. It is obvious but at the same time gave Letterman a run for his money. Respect for showing up and being himself.
He can't stay still! I came back here to re read the other comments, only to find this has been uploaded only two days ago. It was up for a long time, couldn't they just had left it here...
Billy Idol was offered the Song "Dont you" from his Producer, which he didnt want to sing. The Song under the Band Simple Minds became legendary in Music History and representative for the 80s until today.
Fascinating... I can see how he would've been offered it! Would be pretty cool to hear, what that song would've sounded like, if he had done it. I can already kind of imagine it, but it'd be nice to hear the complete set of vocal nuances Billy would bring, that I can't entirely imagine myself. Haha.
@@whoamellie5610 I believe Billy Idol included a version of this song on his "Greatest Hits" collection that came out about 20 years ago. I liked his version, but think Simple Minds' version is still tops.
@@joelspencer9233 Ah, ok. Yeah, music promotion was different in the early 2000's, so I didn't hear as much info about what songs artists were putting on their albums or greatest hits collections.. If they didn't say something on tv, or in a magazine, or in newspaper.. you didn't know, or you missed it. So now youtube subscriptions, and social media, spread the info so much faster.. I don't always think about that comparison between the times. But I do ~remember~ the difference though.. Haha, I was 9, twenty years ago 😊 Young, but old enough to see the differences, haha! ..And plus when you're that young, you don't always pay as much attention to the ~names~ of older artists, even if you did like them 😝 Just kinda funny to think about..haha! But yet I started paying more attention at about 12 😁, so there's that 😊 Not everyone knows much/appreciates 80s music, but I sure do! ✌💖
@@rackoon5420 Personally, I was mostly envisioning his ~voice~ fitting the song.. But I would also think that Don't You -'s lyrics are just as poetic as Eyes Without A Face, or Cradle of Love. So..depends on what side of Billy Idol you look at. Not everything is White Wedding, Rebel Yell, or Mony Mony.. I dunno. Guess sometimes it's up to.. the ear of the beholder? Haa ha ;P Or mind. Style and music can be subjective in opinion. Don't mind me, just bored at 7am ha-ha.
I like him more for not calling In sick You need to carefully try drugs in order to understand them, just calling them bad and dangerous without trying is kinda invalid as you have no experience in which to base your opinion. Cheers Billy 🍻
