Billy's Sacrifice | Stranger Things 3 

Billy had only just woke up, and tragically sacrificed himself to save a girl he didn’t even know. He may have been a dick, but his true character was made in this one scene.

Billy: gets stabbed 7 times in the stomach, lungs, kidneys, etc Max:................. Billy :gets stabbed in the heart Max:BILLYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!

Every villain had a sad story to tell. Billy was the perfect example for this...

Can we just talk about the sheer strength of Billy? Because at that point Billy was free from the mind flayers control and was using his human strength to hold off a 50 foot monster what a badass RIP.

What gets me the most is how much progress his character made in just a moment and i legit cried because of this scene

surprisingly Billy's death was the first time i cried watching stranger things.

Billy was by far my favorite character in the end of season 3. He was such a tragic character. Him and his mother were abused by his father and his mother wasnt in the picture anymore. All he wanted was to be loved and understood.

No one talking about how he was pushing back a freaking 50ft monster and winning for a second

Do you know why Billy could hold off the Mindflayer for so long? BECAUSE HE PLANTED HIS GOD DAMN FEET!

Billy never deserved to die, he was just a broken hero...

I always loved billy, even before this moment, i knew he was broken and i could relate to him a lot as someone with a broken home growing up, his death hurt me so much

You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain Billy became a villain, but ultimately died a hero

When Max screamed “BILLY!” After he died. Even though he treated her like garbage since they’d first met, she still couldn’t bear to see him die

I cried so much when this happened. This part shows the human part of Billy that I have been waiting to see, and now I love him 1000x more.

Honestly 1:43 made me cry because even tho billy treated max like shit she still screamed "BILLY!!" it was the most heart breaking scene ☹️😞

Just like the joker said in the dark knight: “In their last moments, people show you who they really are” - as did billy in his final moments. 😔

In his final moments he sacrificed himself for a girl he barely knew. He was so broken and this scene really shows how human he was and how he just needed to be loved.

its amazing how in the end billy wasn’t afraid of anything and stared death in the eyes and yelled back at it taking all the pain and saying its still not enough to put him down. R.I.P. Billy

I'm probably not the only one, but I was not expecting Billy to end up saving Eleven and her friends in the end. Despite how badly he'd treated everyone prior to this and becoming an abuser like his father, there was still some good left in him and he ended up redeeming himself.

This was Vecna before anyone knew, inside the show and out. I'm speechless.

Billy dying was a wake up call for many. We hated his guts because of his abusing ways. Then we realized that he was a broken individual who lost the one thing that brought happiness. Now, instead of a redeeming storyline, we got a redeeming final moment

Billy was the Vegeta of this show. Amazing performance from Dacre. Hope his career explodes from this point on.

My girlfriend cried watching this. Whole season 2 she hated billys guts, wishing he died. Whole season 3 she was so afraid and scared of him, I had to watch out for billy in the evening. But during this scene, she cried. Genuinely. Made me realize how good season 3 actually was.

Billy’s sacrifice will never be forgotten

The scene when Mike and Lucas want to quickly end a D&D campaign, Mike says: "I'll use my torch to set fire to the chambers, sacrificing ourselves, killing the jujus, and saving the Khuisar". Two heroes who sacrificed themselves in order to beat the evil monsters and save the world. This is exactly what happened.

Dacre Montgomery definitely deserves an Emmy for his outstanding performance 👌👌

Let’s admit it, we cried during this scene

The way Billy screams in defiance in the face of assured death, knowing this is it the end of the road, is just chilling. No fear in his eyes only Malice and defiance for this creature that dared to control him and use him to carry out atrocities.

This is why Sadie is such an underrated actor. You can just see the pure fear, pain, and disbelief in her face after realizing what Billy's doing.

Billy, just as Doc Ock, "I won't die a monster"; nothing but respect for him and his redemption...

Just the moment Billy gets his mind back he takes one look at the mind flare and eleven and he knows exactly what’s going on and what he needs to do. The acting is just amazing.

Billy was the only character in the entire show who single handedly kept the Mind Flayer's mouth pushed back with his bare hands and physical strength. Even Eleven couldn't do it easily.

Billy may have been an asshole but he sacrificed his life for eleven which he didn't even know which made me cry more then I was already😭

Someone finally shows him love/compassion since his mom left and when his dad used to abuse him he was much smaller than his dad just like how now he's much smaller than the mind flayer but he has so much anger towards his dad and love for his mom his true nature is finally revealed and redeemed himself. This scene got me teary eyed. Also the actor that played him did a phenomenal job.

This still leaves me crying after two years. 🥺🥺🥺

We all know we didn’t like billy.. but when this scene came on and he sacrificed himself for el it all made us have a least 1 tear in our eyes..

I don’t think billy ever would have ever forgiven himself for the things he did. His character did the last thing he could to make right his wrongs. A beautiful last act of selflessness.

This scene made me cry. The amount of pain billy went through is unreal, the scene where he died made me very upset, but also kinda happy, while billy was an amazing character, at least he was free from all of the pain the spider monster was giving him

I’ve thought about Billy’s death and I think it has a lot of symbolism towards the relationship he had with his father. His father always controlled him just like the mindflayer and when he was young he couldn’t defend his mom from his abusive father. So in a lot of ways this was his opportunity to defend somebody good like his mother. Especially because Eleven gave billy memories of his mother he might not have had anymore. Billy stood up to the mindflayer like he never could his dad before and I think it’s great. I wonder if the Duffer brothers meant to write it like that or if I’m reaching a bit ? 😀 PS: There is a scene in season 2 when Billy is fighting Steve and he says “Nobody tells me what to do!”. Which supports my theory even more, he didn’t want anyone or anything telling him what to do. Including his father OR the mindflayer. 😂

Never thought I'd be balling my eyes out over of Billy's death.

"Seven feet.. you told her, the wave was seven feet." "You ran to her, on the beach.. there was seagulls.." "She wore a hat, with a blue ribbon. A long dress, with a blue and red flower. Yellow sandals, covered in sand." She was pretty, she was really pretty. And you, you were happy.

At 1:30 Billy looks a whole lot like vecna in the attic with all the vines sticking out of him and his arms extended outward

I really wanted to see Steve and Billy fight side by side, at least in one scene. The two badasses !!!

This was such an intense, powerful episode. I’ll never forget how the duffers outdid themselves season 3. The actors especially.

I hated him in season 2, but of course when we got to know his past I felt sorry for him and I began to really like his character. But then Vecna decided to kill him off. I sighed as he fell to the floor. But I froze and tears filled my eyes as the sad music came on and I looked into Hopper's eyes. He will always be my favorite character, but Billy is up there too.

Lloré con esta escena. Tal vez Billy no fue una buena persona pero en el fondo siento que sí lo era. No justifico sus malas acciones, pero si el hubiese crecido en un entorno mucho mejor y con un padre amoroso, no terminaría de esa manera. Antes de que el muera, se escucha un "lo siento" y por eso pienso que en el fondo no quería ser una mala persona, era alguien que necesitaba ayuda :/.

It doesn’t show, but as Billy’s dying and Max quickly runs towards him, he says he’s sorry before he eventually dies. What I think is unique about his last words, however, is the obvious and underlying apology hidden within it. His apology shows his regret over what he had done over the course of the season as well as how he treated Max and the other kids in the past. His whole character which was made familiar had changed in those final moments of his passing. Billy was introduced as a cocky, bossy, flashy, womanizing douchebag throughout season 2 and it had seemed like his character would just continue to remain that way. Then comes season 3 which showcases Billy for what he actually is: a boy who never felt any fatherly affection who also lost his mother who abandoned him. Witnessing the backstory and the inner vulnerability of Billy is what makes truly makes his character stand out from the cliche jerk in movies and shows. His sacrifice to save Eleven and share his last moments with his little sister is what makes Billy’s character arc complete. He went from being a arrogant teen from California to becoming the host and tool of the Mind Flayer, leading multiple people to also become mindless killers, to finally overcoming the monster that possessed him and become the unlikely savior of Eleven. He died knowing his final action was heroic and one he did on his own free will. RIP Billy.

I could tell right from his first appearance on season 2 that they would do much more with this guy’s character. RIP
