Development of the Bionix began in 1988. It took several years before leaving the Bionix AFV prototyping phase in 1995 and finally being commissioned on 26 March 1997. The Bionix has been succeeded by the Bionix II, which was "jointly developed by the Singapore Armed Forces, the Defence Science and Technology Agency, and Singapore Technologies Engineering".

Nice vehicle suited to their terrain, roads, & climate. Wheeled vehicles may fair better under certain conditions but tracked vehicles will fair better in different conditions.

Built on what we would consider the stingray tank chassis.

Nice vehicles but with their terrain i would have expected a wheeled vehicle. These are nice but the tracks make maintenance more difficult and expensive. An eight wheeled vehicle can do nearly everything a tracked version can only cheaper and faster. They don't have steep slopes and meters of snow so they would be able to do everything they need with a wheeled platform.

Actually they do have mountains along malaysian and chinese borders.

@@jeffreyprezalar220 Singapore is no where near China thus there is no shared border. There are no mountains within the entire Singapore. There are also no mountains any where in Malaysia which is near our shared border.

The SAF has wheeled vehicles in the form of the Terrex infantry fighting vehicle, but it's also good to have tracked vehicles too. Even if Singapore doesn't have terrain that makes tracked vehicles necessary, it's good training and use for the soldiers when it comes to overseas exercises. I mean just imagining an army with no tracked vehicles at all is kinda weird lol.

Once those tanks and armoured vehicles of singapore face their enemy on the ground it only means one thing , singapore 's defence airforce and navy is gone . !

It can also mean that air and sea superiority has been achieved by RSAF by RSN respectively. 😎
