Awesome... man they have a Great Life with you!!! btw How do you keep track of them so as not to "step" on them?? I've heard, read and been told that this is the #1 way Parrotlets die...from being stepped on since they are so small..Anyhow... with such a big room for them with lots going on...How do you keep track of where they are...thus keeping them "safe"?? I am going to be a first time Parrolet mom in 2wks and I will just DIE if I ever killed mine by stepping on her!
@Bia-ib5op

Don't let your birds on the floor. Keep their cages and their toys high, and when you're hanging out with them, keep them on your shoulder or on a table but DON'T let them on the floor! They get stressed when they're on the floor, plus it's dangerous, for the reason you stated -- they get stepped on and killed. They feel much better in high places. Again, don't let your bird on the floor.

amazing bird room, I would never have the space or time :( what's the overall relationship between mia and zeeby? I'm planning on getting a parrotlet but don't know what species (pacific, etc) and if I need to feed it a specific brand of bird feed or should I even feed it bird food?? I've been told there should never be a strictly seed diet and there should be a variety of veggies and other things (please help me with that too haha). and if parrotlets have trouble being alone, should I get a second one? thank you :)
@jomanaljasem1522
@jomanaljasem1522 6 лет назад
milk fangs me too ! I am thinking of buying a nice small budgie , from what I know , you should feed them veggies fruits and seeds, all you heard about the diet is correct , and be nice to tame with your budgie and have good time with !
@ellarenee431
@ellarenee431 5 лет назад
hello! sorry, I know this was written 2 years ago, but I still wanted to reply. You definitely need to feed vegetables, and keep seed to a minimum. Fruits are very high in sugar, I only feed fruit every few days as a treat. The list of vegetables you can feed almost feels endless, lol, but definitely read up on the toxic list. NEVER feed avocados, DO NOT feed mushrooms, spinach, apple seeds, etc. AVOID feeding citrus fruits, tomatoes, etc, (I just wouldn't feed it at all). But definitely feed different leafy greens such as romaine lettuce, red leaf lettuce, swiss chard, bok choy, kale, etc. Cabbage and spinach are not recommended in big quantities as it can bind calcium. You can also feed things like broccoli, cauliflower, bell peppers, chilli, cucumber, zucchini, corn, carrot (if organic, include the carrot tops), snap peas, green beans, peas, Brussel sprouts, asparagus, beetroot, and so much more! I would also recommend sprouting seeds, but if that's too overwhelming, don't worry, you don't have to, it is just extremely beneficial and so nutritional for your parrot. I recommend the TOPS pellets. They are completely organic, cold pressed with no artificial colours, flavours, no additives, so natural and healthy. I can confidentially say that they are the healthiest option for your parrot. The reasoning behind not feeding too many seeds is basically they are straight up fat. Yes, a large portion of a wild birds diet will consist of seed, but they also eat other things such as fruit, vegetables, sprouts, grains and more, and any fat they do get from the seeds and nuts they eat, they burn off from the miles and miles that they fly out in the wild, and they don't even consume that much fat. Yet most captive birds don't fly nearly a portion of that in a day (if at all) and are just given seeds. It can lead to severe health problems such as fatty liver disease. So this is why we need to feed other things and give them seeds sparingly. Now the fats from seeds can be good for them but just keep them to a minimum. I don't know much about parrotlets and their breeds (like nothing lol) but I can help you with information about a friend for your bird. Now you should be your parrots friend, you should be able to spend multiple hours out of your day with your bird, if you don't have the time, you shouldn't get a bird. But if you buy two birds that have been raised together, that could easily work, they just might not be as human friendly. If you already have a bird, I wouldn't recommend getting a second bird as a "friend" for your first, because if they don't get along, they can literally kill each other. If you felt your bird was getting bored, provide it with plenty of foraging toys and shreddable toys. If you still wanted to give it a shot, make sure you bring the second bird home with its own cage and set of bowls and everything and then if they do get along then that is a win but if not that is ok too. But lets say you brought home a second bird, but this second bird and your first bird got really close and started loving each other, they might kick you out and get very anti-social with humans. I hope this helped :) - kind regards :)

Hi ! I was wondering about parrotlets and green cheek conure . I am definitely going to permanently house them separately , but I was wondering if they could play together in the indoor bird room and the outdoor bigger bird cage we are going to have outside . The Parrotlet is going to be the new bird and I wanted to be able to exercise them at the same time . Also I will be studying outside so I can’t supervise them really closely. Would this work ?

to have healthy birds, do you need a room for them or can they stay in a safe room not deticated towards them?
@Foxinamangle2
@Foxinamangle2 7 лет назад
They don' t need their own room, though it sounds nice to have one, it is optional. A good sized cage (depends on bird) with plenty of space to fly, perches, food and water bowls (duh), maybe a a bathing bowl (unless your bird chooses to bathe outside of the cage), lots of shredding toys, foraging toys, and maybe a place to sleep like a bird safe hut (best homemade because the pet store ones from my experience aren't very good and Flock Talk mentions that too in one of her vids) should be just fine for a bird. Just make sure they spend plenty of time outside their cage everyday, they would love as much of your company as possible!

Hello i really need your advice. I just got a baby parrotlets and I'm trying to train him to step up and down but he really wont stay on my finger long enough for me to teach him. I am training him in front of his cage so that might be a mistake. Thing is i cant take him to another room cause if i do get him on my finger if i l race his cage area he will fly back to his cage. I dont know if maybe when he'll get older he wil step up and down. I do let him out everyday so he can have some time out he usually stays arou d his cage. I was told to get a small cage and teach him to perch from there and gradually bring him to a bigger cage. I would think i should start training now while he's young right? Also his only favorite treat is millet he is only 8 weeks old and im trying to introduce him to new foods but he tries them but wont really eat anything but his seeds and sometomes his pellets. I mix the seeds with the pellts. Please help!

how much do you think basic budgie supplies would cost for 1 budgie? i'm thinking of getting one
@spottedleaftigerclaw5467
@spottedleaftigerclaw5467 7 лет назад
I know a green cheek conure is slightly larger than a budgie, but the start-up cost for my GCC was about 600-700 dollars. It is about twenty dollars every month or so for toys, not including food. Good luck if you get a budgie, and be sure to check rescues, and please don't buy from a pet store. Good luck! :)
@spottedleaftigerclaw5467
@spottedleaftigerclaw5467 7 лет назад
Sorry if I come off as rude, but your cage alone should cost 100+, or that is wayy too small of a cage. Yes I am aware they may be cheaper than a Conure, but birds are just expensive pets in general.
