Black Hole Sun performed by members od Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Soundgarden at the Taylor Hawkins Tribute in Los Angeles. September 27th 2022 at The Kia Forum arena.
Just because it doesn’t mean anything to the songwriter doesn’t mean it isn’t good or doesn’t carry any meaning. To me it sounds a bit apocalyptic or suicidal. Esp after what eventually ends up happening to Chris
I almost feel like this is a Tribute for all of the Rock Legends that we have lost over the last 20 years. Taylor, Kurt, Chris, Chester, Layne, just on and on.....I truly hope this becomes and annual thing to do two shows every year, one in London and one in LA and raise money for charity. This made my heart so full today, thanks for posting this view..
The amazing thing about all these videos and the entire concert is clearly the eclectic range of performers... but the underlying theme here is a tribute to many fallen rockers... Freddie Mercury, Eddie Van Halen, Kurt Cobain, Neil Peart, Steve Clark, Chris Cornell... and of course, Taylor Hawkins... I love how the Foo Fighters included everyone and made this a well themed tribute to many... very moving and unforgettable... the people in attendance were very lucky.
Brian Johnson played at the Wembly show and reminded me that they lost a couple of brothers along the way in Bon and Malcom. Same with Lars Ulrich and Paul McCartney. It’s an unfortunate risk of the musical world.
@@The.Bottom.Dollar.Your last sentence makes no sense. A soldier going off to war is at more risk. A lot of musicians live a very comfortable life, more people die in car crashes.
Matt Cameron also played in Skin Yard and Temple of the Dog, and Pat Smear played with the Germs. Dave Grohl was in Scream. I think we can keep the list going..
@@JDubzDrumz I`ve seen interviews with Taylor Hawkins, Dave Navarro and Perry Farrell there's a few out there I know they were best friends. Yet nowhere to be seen or heard of. I wonder what's up with that? Can only surmise, did Dave G not ask them or did they know something like the rumor DG was pushing the band doing too many gigs and Taylor told them it was grueling and he couldn't take it anymore? Mysterious...
@@andshewas296 or maybe... maybe they felt they weren't emotionally ready to perform. Or maybe they had something scheduled they couldn't move. Or they're going through something personal and can't make time for that. Seriously, there are so many possible explanations that are more likely than them having something against Dave/ Dave disliking them. Not everything needs to turn into gossip bs and drama. Oh, and btw, the claim that Dave was mistreating Taylor and overworking him has been debunked. The people who were quoted in that Rolling Stone article said themselves that their quotes were taken out of context and the story is false (btw, both of them were at the show, one is even in this video, so obviously they don't resent Dave).
never thought i would see nirvana and Soundgarden playing with the girl from the Grinch on the day of my birthday (09/27) but yet here we are jokes aside beautiful tribute, I've been watching so many performances from the multiple concerts, cried a few times with some of the speeches R.I.P Taylor Hawkins
Taylor Momsen manages to invoke the golden age Grunge vibe well, her voice is perfectly suited for all kinds of music, although it is sweet it manages to be raspy and grating at the same time. She does justice in every tribute she has been to date, she always ends up picking more than one song, all the musicians involved obviously enjoy collaborating with her. Hawkins' tribute she was a last minute guest and without rehearsing did two songs, Soundgarden's she was only going to do Loud Love, and got three more songs without rehearsing. She is one of the best things that happened to rock n roll in the last decade, a real gift.
It also helps that she was personal friend of Chris Cornell and Idolized him and especially his music. She was on tour with Soundgarden when Chris died which decimated her.
I’m quite surprised so few people have heard of Taylor Momsen. She’s been around for quite some time already and her band, The Pretty Reckless, has released some good rock tracks. When Chris died, she did an awesome cover of ‘Like a Stone’ which I highly recommend listening to. Out of the new faces on the rock stage, I would say she feels the closest to the grunge scene both spiritually and musically; so surprising to read a comment here wondering if she was invited because her first name is Taylor.
Something very different, although it is still very much Grunge, Post Malone's Nirvana Tribute during Covid, i hate his stuff, but that tribute concert was goddamn fantastic, he should quit his day job and do grunge XD
100% - they played Loud Love on every show of their summer tour. I hadn't heard of her until recently myself, but I'm glad I found her. In this era, she is the closest thing to what the grunge bands of the 90s represented.
@@sonicimperium highly doubt that was an issue as the money was going to charity anyway. There were a lot of cameras there. I suspect it will eventually come out either as a dvd or documentary.
Speaking as a fellow drummer, Matt is such a tasteful drummer! Like Peart his fills make me smile in appreciation. They fit the song perfectly! This is what it is about mainly being a musician! So many don't understand this...
@@patrickpostlewait8453 Good to hear. So many people get blinded by speed and the number of notes! It's the space between and how they punctuate the song that matters most
Totally agree with you as another fellow drummer and guitarist. As a matter of fact, when I've thought if FF decide to have a new drummer, Matt Cameron would fit in really well. He sued to do Soundgarden and Pearl Jam at the same time so there is no reason he can't do it again with FF. One can dream right?
When we lost Taylor it seemed inconceivable for Foo Fighters to continue. Yes, it's Dave's band but.....TAYLOR. These concerts have been a tidal wave of homage to wipe away the slate and leave the Foos able to move forward. Brilliant. Moving. I have cried a bunch seeing the performances. RIP Taylor Hawkins -- I saw you in a small club before Alanis was big and it was amazing.
Truly appreciate that all these musicians got together, they didn’t have to, but they did very cool to see. I have always loved Soundgarden the most, this brought a lot of heaviness to my day, very cathartic. I can’t even imagine what Mr. Hawking’s family is going through.
@@sonicimperium I’ve actually met *ahem* Mr. Grohl a few times so he knows I “exist”. Apologies for my informality to Misters Novoselic, Smear, Thayil, and Cameron, however. I shan’t let it happen again.
it is incredible to think that they left, that they are no longer with us that they came forward and we will never see them again, this world will not be the same without them, but we are left with the consolation of their music that will live forever so that the next generations know where it all began , thanks Chris , Taylor , thanks Kurt , Chester , thanks for the legacy that will always move our hearts well traveled friends !!!
She can handle it, she’s perhaps the best singer in rock music right now!! She smokes so much weed, I’m not sure it’s possible to intimidate her!! If you get a chance to see The Pretty Reckless live, GO!! She owns the stage & she rocks!!
this appears to be TH fave. mine too. i loved how he refered to it as the day i tried to sing, after the chris cornell show. HE WAS ALWAYS THE PICTURE OF GRACE and that smile was devestating, like his talent
I know that I am not anywhere near as talented as Taylor was, but when I die (which might be soon) I hope to have at least one or two people who really care.
which might be soon? ru dying from cancer? ru fukin serious ? on internet? i dare u to tell me the story of your life...so, youre not as talented as taylor...youre a drummer right? if u have at least one or two people please make a band asap!!!im sure youre not more than 20 years old cause u liked lil peep and artic monkeys.get a grip man!

Everyone clearly had respect for Taylor didn't matter what they're background was or how they knew him he was a great man father and great drummer respected by everyone r.i.p Taylor you truly are someone to look up too
Thanks for this video. Would've loved to see this, but it wasn't streamed. Hope it will be released later on. I would've loved to buy it on blu-ray or on some streaming platform like paramount.
It's cool to see how Taylor Momsen is singing with such big Legends and she is one of the first singer that comes to my mind when someone should sing a Soundgarden song. Great choose
