BlackBerry Priv: In-depth First Few Days 

Guys, this review is what I noticed and what really stood out to me within the first few days. This is not the full review. I don't think some of you are understanding that. At least the BlackBerry fanboys aren't as they are using it as a reason to jab at me for not mentioning everything they see of value. Chill your beans!

blackberry is not for teens. Its executive phone for professional use with great look. best part for me is slide im really missing it for quite long time

The camera sound can be disabled, but from the audio setting, not the camera settings.

I have a galaxy note7 and this is the only phone that had me thinking of switching. The note7 is in a league of its own but this blackberry Priv comes close. The Priv's display is on par with samsungs flagship. I honestly can't say the same for any other phone.

Best review ....You are going thru every aspect of the phone.....It feels like I have the phone with me.

Blackberry released it way too early, they should have fixed all the bugs before selling the units.

IT GOD DAMM OVERHEATS!!!!!!!! way bad.....i fixed this problem....oddly enough it was the blackberry software itself, i ran 3 separate apps that analyze apps, the "hot" ones were the blackberry apps itself, i deleted or "disabled" them and the overheating vanished by 90%, it now takes a heavy prolonged used like normal phones are, before that it took 2 minutes of use, basic ebay searching or amazon looking around, and the phone would overheat to the point were my palm was sweating....like way hotter it should have been after 2 minuets of use.....took the brightness down by 50%, turned off lift to wake, and other features....it now runs at normal...and my battery life is back to normal, but that took disabling every cool feature it had....i got it for the physical keyboard, and that mainly...and it was on sale....but all the blackberry software/apps have been deleted or disabled, and google search was also guilty of overheating...i came from a iphone 6....the mix of android/blackberry is not seamless....the BB hub was really bad at overheating.... i bought it, so i will use it and i prefer it over my iphone 6 any day, but should have gotten something diffrent...to late now....

as a current Blackberry user and a former Android user, this is a pretty good review and exploration of the phone. also this must be the only review i saw that actually does side by side app comparison between the Priv and another Android device with roughly the same specs, so kudos to you lady! i will be looking forward to seeing your more in depth review when you've posted it. thanks!

Really good 1st impressions video. Long as normal. But there are details that you go in that other never touch. Lots of value there. 👍

why does nobody understand that it's actually positive if you feel the warmth of a phone nowadays? it's called heat dissipation. every processor gets warm and even hot, so if you can't feel it it means that the heat is trapped inside, causing overheating. simple physics.

why does everybody want every android phone to look like stock android ? that's boring and it take the unique factor out of the OEM's phone

wow, i'd rather buy this an a galaxy S6 edge. The keyboard is amazing and micro sd is so important for me. i would wait for the second generation android blackberry phone tho because of the little problems but many it will be fixed with software updates idk

This was terrific. I've been looking everywhere for a good review and most folks seem unfamiliar with BB or lazy about really figuring out the phone and getting into details. I would love to get this phone - I love me a physical keyboard and miss my old BB. Still can't get fast with a touch one without lots of errors. Looking forward to your complete review, Erica, and maybe you can address the security/privacy benefits of this phone. I LOVE that you are knowledgeable and techy and nerdy and a hot chick to boot. You go girl.

Very good review.

The Priv felt great in my hand and looks fantastic but too techie for me as I'm not the most technological person. I'm looking to stay with my BlackBerry (have a Q10) but it's on its last legs. I'm a RU-vidr who's trying to make his channel (mostly a hobby) more professional and serious but what BlackBerry would you recommend out of the Leap, Q10, or Z10? I'm looking for a good camera but also something that's good for social media. I don't want to have an abundance of apps on my phone however. Any recommendations?

Nice first view Erica! - I love the idea of a physical keyboard and some of the little features like snooze/triggered notifications and that great keyboard suggestions. Shame it seems to suffer somewhat compared to other Android phones running similar specs. Maybe when they release a top tier phone w/physical keyboard I'd be tempted.

Thanks for the overview. With the swipe-up-on-the-app-to-reveal-the-widget function, BB copied a great feature from +Chris Lacy Action Launcher app.

Fair and detailed first impressions! What was the background you had on it? Was it a stock Priv background? Look forward to your follow up full review. Hopefully they iron out any software issues and fix any heat / throttling issues. Cheers

i know that the whisper sync is a paid sponsor, but thanks for showing that, i used to do that with the kindle v3 (kindle keyboard) and it was great but after that amazon simplified the kindle, now i have the paperwhite, and miss this feature but whispersync looks awesome

This is the video coupled with the Mr Mobile review of the same phone which prompted me to get the phone in the first place and everything you both said was on point.. both the reviews were honest which is the best thing I liked because you seldom find reviews that are not biased towards a company or a product..

Erica, can you select text like in the old blackberry`s ? using the "keyboard" as track pad by using shift?

It heats up even when it itsn't doing anything? That's a feature like on Nexus 4.
