Im not a fan of Bayley singing style, but he deserves a ton of credit for keeping Maiden going. Virtual XI and X Factor were great for Bayley's vocal range and without those albums we wouldnt have great songs like The Clansman, Man on the Edge, Lord of the Flies. Etc. He gets a lot of my respect.
I take upon you. Beyond the songs you have mentioned there are also others very cool songs like The Sign of the cross, The aftermath, Judgement of heaven, The edge of darkness, Fortunes of war, Lightning Strikes twice, The educated fool.
as soon as the first chorus ends, harris just stops moving (for the first time in his on stage career hahaha)and murder glares the guy down for the rest of the song
Never saw steve angry, he's such a humble guy. Blaze was right to get this angry as was Steve, I liked blaze, he did his best and his vocals on the x factor and virtual XI where really good. He's got a really good voice and his solo stuff is great
Liked how Steve stuck close to Blaze during the song, very supportive, neither took any shit from a bad audience, & I thought he handled the the song pretty well!
I don't hate Blaze bayley at all. People expecting him to sound like Bruce are just ridiculous. It'd be like expecting James Hetfield to sing like Sebastian Bach, then getting pissed off if he couldn't
+James Ward Blaze was great. he wasn't bruce, nor should he have been, he had a great vocal style of his own, but those were some big shoes to fill unfortunately. metal heads can't seem to adapt to change, which is unfortunate because being a metal fan for 20+ years I've been privy to some awesome changes and awesome metal bands
+James Ward You can't compare 'bach' to musicians , Its been said of Bach in order to play certain pieces by 'bach' one would have the hand of God.. With the All star butt rock band explosion during the 80s The''youth gone gay'' or 18 and life, your daughters wife ) fade to black, was quite pleasant to all have a good night : But I would sub track riffs from 80s make me laugh opinionated in fact . reason's an asshole likes doing things like that,., to yo ta
+James Ward It's not just that, because there are a lot of other problems with those albums as well, mainly due to the fact that the band gave Bayley quite poor material to work with, mostly seen with the Virtual XI album.
You don't like the singer, don't go to the concert. If you do, act like a civilized person and respect the people on stage. I love how Steve stood by him!
i love how when The Trooper is finished Nicko is starting to play the drumming intro to the next song Running Free but as soon as he hears Blaze being mad at the audience he stops playing right away
I am surprised HOW THE HELL THEY FINISHED THE ENTIRE SONG WITH THAT VIOLENT TEMPER!!! AMAZING BLAZE AND SIR HARRIS. Definition of Perfect Talent can be learned from you. True Talent That Works In ANY CONDITION.
he'd been singing all night too. this is near the end of the show- he actually yells at the spitter in a slightly less dramatic fashion after the song Man on the Edge
He did a good damn job singing this song? haha that's a good one..That's probably why they spit.. blaze butchered the trooper plain and simple and that spit was meant for Blaze not Steve
Just imagine you wake up at 3:00 a.m. and you want to go for some water in the kitchen and suddenly you find a Steve with that mad expression on the hall of your house
Diego Bombardiere I'm surprised Blaze didn't jump into the crowd and beat him up himself. He looked very annoyed. And it's even worse when Steve Harris stops playing in the middle of the song cause he's so pissed off. I feel bad for Blaze, I feel like the only reason people hate him is because he isn't Bruce. I refused to listen to The X Factor (and I never even heard of Virtual XI until a few months ago) because I took everyone's word that he sucked without actually listening to him. Quite frankly, I like him, he has a different singing style (in all honesty, it's better than having another guy who sounds exactly like Bruce, like what Judas Priest did with Ripper Owens) and I feel like people don't think of it like that. He's underrated and I really feel bad for all the hate he gets.
It's a pity that things didn't work out between blaze and Iron Maiden because blaze's second solo album Tenth Dimension would have been a fantastic maiden album.
mooseclappin11 I think there were rumours of him rejoining at the time. In general, the problem was Blaze had to sing stuff that's way out of his range. That's not good for the voice.
I love how Steve supported Blaze during the entire song. Ok, maybe Blaze can't sing Bruce's classics but he was (and still he is) a great singer. With him, Maidens could have done many more great hits like "Virus" or "Futureal"... And I really love his live version of "Afraid to shoot strangers" in "Best of the beast" album. This song was made for him, but at that time Steve just didn't know it!
I've read about Blaze. Though he isn't a great singer, he was practically bullied all the time by fans (they even spitted at him). So his reaction was perfectly understandable. One think is criticizing him by saying he's not good (he's good for sad stuff), another is telling he deserve to die and other 'nice things'. I've read many of those things related to Blaze
Even other members of the band have said they felt it wasn’t fair to have him (Blaze) continually sing songs that were beyond his range. Few male singers have both Dickinson’s range and power.
@@chuckcape7248 I've read that when Dickinson was still a student, he destroyed the windows for fun with his voice. I can imagine the scene and the surprised laugh of evereybody (Including Bruce, of course :D)
@@LesPaul2006 I respect your opinion but I dont agree. Blaze can handle the lower frequencies way better than Bruce and a lower tuning would compliment his voice.
Blaze and Steve were rightfully righteously angry, and it was probably cathartic as hell to release before their huge crowd. Loved it and props to both gentlemen.
Yepp. But he’s screwed up when singing the majority of Bruce-era song with the same notes (which means the band didn’t toned down the notes). It’s very sad, man. But it is what it is😅😅 When he’s singing the majority of his album’s era during his solo career or when he’s still on the Iron Maiden, it fits for him very well
I love blaze as a vocalist and he did fit Maiden on his 2 albums as the tone was right for the songs that steve was writing. but he is kind of struggling with the trooper. but maybe that was due to the anger at the guy who spat at him and steve. wonder if this will be the dvd when they get round to the blaze years on the history of iron maiden series
Pascal Schulz That was the problem, the people were used to Bruce. I've seen Blace solo yesterday, so much power, great gig, great band! I was dissapointed also a litte first as I bought the X Factor, it needed time to get through. He was not such a bad choice for Maiden and solo is he worth a trip to the show
I didn't say he was bad.. But he didn't fit in Maiden! Sure he has a good voice (thats the reason why they decided to take him) but everyone wanted to here Bruce ^^
The management first of all, because of $$$. It is sad, that so many people are bashing Blaze. After the years looking at the 2 Albums, I would go so far to say, that he did fit, but it was a new Maiden, and as you said, the people wanted the old one with Bruce....
***** Yes, shit. A 'British' accent could be one from England, Northern Ireland, Wales or Scotland. What do they teach you at school over there for fuck sake?
Depret Flavien Don't waste your time apologising to strangers you will never meet. Spend that time reading about what makes Great Britain, 'Great Britain' instead. Its actually worthwhile.
I spent YEARS in the "Blaze Bayley era of Maiden sucks", except for a few tracks. About a month ago I decided it was time to revisit those albums with an open mind, get familiar with them and see if I still feel the same way. What I decided is that those albums KICK FUCKING ASS! They just require an open mind and patience. I will admit that Blaze didn't handle the older material very well.
Saw Blaze a few times with his old Wolfsbane act back in the 80's .. Great at getting a bar crowd going but looks pretty wooden on a big stage.. Never could sing either! Bless him lol
Oh cmon, be real. He was not amazing. He had a unique voice that really needed a band that wrote songs he was capable of singing. In Maiden, he was a bad fit and a weak link.
I met Blaze a few years ago. He was doing a crappy bar gig and only like 40 people showed up. (and I think a bunch of them came from 300 miles away with the back-up band, a young group of metalheads from Montreal). Blaze put on a helluva show even with the tiny crowd. That's a real pro in my books. He talked to everyone after and had a couple beers. very cool guy. He said one of his dreams had been to do Wasted Years, and he did. His range was pretty close on the Dickinson stuff. Of course it's hard to hit those high notes consistently (I've been a musician all my life, so I have a pretty good idea). I like how he sics the security on this asshole.
I agree 100%.i think he was excellent at what he did. No one could have filled Bruce's shoes, but I think Blaze was a good as they could have possibly got. He's a Hell of a lot better than Di'Anno.
+Amrith Koomar Dhawotal Bruce will always be my favorite Iron Maiden frontman, but I do agree, as they all deserve respect, and they all have more talent in their little toes than One Direction have in their entire bodies.
What a miserable era for Maiden...gladly enough, things changed soon after and they came back with full force. Blaze was a nice person but definitely not the proper singer for Maiden.
I don't think Blaze is that bad of a singer. He's brilliant with his ownand the Di'Anno stuff. You have to remember that this song is way out of his natrual vocal range, so good on him for trying
all in that show disliked the the trooper. because bruce have a voice register higher than blaze blaze is for darkest themes even for doom metal sounds right is an example for.that reason some.guys dislike the classical song
1996 looks like the Great Depression going by this videos quality. At this point both Blaze & DiAnno weigh a combined 2 tons, man are they fat, what happened? And Bruce is 60 & looks better & younger than them both, By a MILE!
I would've gladly stomped that guy out who did that to Harris Iron Maiden has always been my favorite band and I grew up listening to them and I can't explain it really but they've always been my favorite band I'm trying not to sin and get mad because I'm a follower of Jesus but I hope justice was done God bless Iron Maiden for all their beautiful songs 🎸💎 They've always made me laugh too lol 😆 They rock and they have fun while they're doing it 🙂 God bless them 💙✝️
Sofia Alfa The “I Fuckin Told Ya” meant that he already told the guy to stop spitting at him. I believe it was after “Man on the Edge” when he got pissed off. There was an incident before this one at this concert where he got mad, for sure.
+JAMIE LESTER The X Factor I'll give you, as it is an underrated album (not great, but still quite good), but Virtual XI is a terrible album. Blaze's vocals are completely flat and on top of this, the band sounds extremely tired and through that create material that is utterly dead and is probably some of the most boring metal music ever to be created. It's not their worst album (Fear of the Dark takes the cake on that one) but its pretty damn close, and thankfully killed the Blaze Bayley version of Iron Maiden for good.
I understand being pissed, but screaming, "KILL HIM!" over and over was HIGHLY ill-advised. It would have only taken one or two nutters in the crowd going berserk and stomping the guy to death for Blaze to have been looking at riot incitement and/or manslaughter charges.
Well at least the crowd didn't listen. Guy could've easily been killed by that many people, even if they were just trying to beat him up. Blaze would have probably felt pretty awful if the poor sap was killed or crippled or something.
