Awesome video, I referred to it both times changing the blend door actuator. Fyi folks I used the doorman part on my 1996 corvette and that actuator didn’t actually work. After replacing the factory with the doorman, nothing seemed to change- so I flushed the heater core, then nothing but heat came out. After putting the original (old) actuator back in the system is working normally.
I didn't check a code for it. I noticed it would go from heat to cool by itself. Also i looked through the heater box under the hood, and i could see the door open then close randomly

This was a great video. So my 95 the heat is always on. I can see from the blower box (engine side) cover off that my blend door is wide open. Previous owner stated he replaced blend door motor like what you have done. If he did not line up right is there anyway to move the blend door itself so I can line up motor tab? I also get a 01 code. Is yours still working good? Thank you!
@@tinkeringjoeVA yes doesn’t move. I’m thinking going to send my control unit it’s the digital HVAC contour to Batee to get rebuilt and then try a new blend door motor. Thank you for the videos!
@@dougcoleburn1579well thats definitely a option and may be the issue. I think I would try another blend door motor. But nothing wrong with starting with the climate controls
@@tinkeringjoeVA So I pulled my lower passenger panel off like you did. I noticed your foam had some staining. Mine had a small spot of coolant. Was yours also coolant? If so have you done the heater core or is it just a small leak? Thanks again!
a few questions please. you did all that for a code only? were you getting heat anyways? i also have the 96 c4 vette. i have no heat inside the car. asked my mechanic to flush it and he said he didnt know why as the hot water going in is also coming out so its not clogged and not needing flushing. no codes coming up. others suggested the blend door isnt opening. but i got no codes so now im not sure if this is the way to fix than then.
I never got a code for mine. I figure it was the blend door actuator do to other vehicles I have owned that had similar issure related to the blend door actuator not working properly. If your heater core isn't clogged and your climate controls are working like they should. It would be most likely your blend door actuator is bad
I got mine out. Finally. I Took it apart. It’s got a crack in the big wheel. But that’s not what is keeping it from working properly. I plugged it in without installing it so I could see what it’s doing. It turns all the way clockwise when the heat is turned down but only halfway counter clockwise when the heat is turned up, so I bought a new one. Does the exact same thing. So I’m still not getting heat. Have you any idea why it won’t rotate to the left all the way so I can have heat again? Thanks, tom.
On my 95 c4 unfortunately looks like the previous owner tried to do this job but jammed the actual blend door and it is broken inside the enclosure (heater box?) Now I'm stuck unsure on how to repair it. Anyone have a similar problem?

i just tried replacing mine on my 94 and the dorman unit didnt fit,the actuator shaft wouldnt clear the plastic on the heater box.the original actuator shaft doesnt have this problem,it uses the heater box as a "guide" to support the shaft.my only fix would be to remove a small section out of the box to allow the new one clearance so the shaft would be able to go up all the way.i just returned the part.has anyone else had this problem?
thank you for the responce,nice to know it wasn't just me with this problem. I think if i modified the actuator it would fail .trimming the heater box would be extremely difficult,lol.
