Glad to help. These door panels tend to get very brittle with age. I have a fix for the later design LT1 cars also.

I replaced all the carpet and door panels in mine probably 15 years ago. Man, what a great update, makes the car feel like new!

Thanks for the advice to use rubber mallet. After days trying to snap in clips the rubber mallet worked.

You can buy a pneumatic stapler at harbor freight for cheap, and if you're a DIY guy to the point where you're pulling off door panels, you're not really the average person! Well worth the purchase.

Next one I get that needs them Ill make a video. Its been a while. I think you will have to remove the exhaust. The driver side cat setup is the worst of the job. After that you just jack up the engine and do 1 mount at a time. Glad to help!

Its easier to just change the assembly / regulator but if you have time to spare it can save you some money to just do the motor. Some times its not worth the aggravation and not having all the tools it may be a good option to see a vette guy. Just make sure they are competent

For the outer seal it has a lip that sits over the door skin and then it is supposed to pop into the inner door frame. This style clip pops in from the top down. (On each pop in clip the inner tab goes in the hole and the 2 outer rest on the frame towards the inside of the car. The whole seal gets popped in by pressing it downward. The older vettes used a different version of pop in tabs that would go straight into the door frame holes. Ive seen some of the reproduction felt seals have the pop in tabs in the wrong location. If so you have to pry out the bent over tangs from the felt side and mock up in the right spot. You can mark them and use a small drill to set and rebend the tangs in the correct place.

@@CamaroRick I am just starting to replace the outer seals on my '87. Do I install the seal by just pressing it downwards watching the tabs go in correctly, or do I still need to use rivets as well?

@@MrZdvy I would def install the rivets so it cant pop out off of the door. Its not possible to see where its supposed to locate in with the door panel installed. Its the right time to do it. Once its riveted its not going to pop out with the glass pushing it upward. Pop rivet hand tools are pretty cheap and its a useful too to have for many other repairs. Even the heater core replacement will use rivets to reassemble the dash structure etc.

I do it just for a precaution from tearing up the door frame or rear of door seal if I slip off the rivet. Its not necessary

Drill off the screw head untill it comes off, pry the pannel off and use a vice grip on the remaining screw nubs sticking out of the door. Its pretty common especially if the carpet is getting wet a lot. You can order a new sets online

@@MJ7DIRULE you can buy new screw inserts, they come in handy because they are used all over the car. I go through a lot

Its probably a 4 and a half hour job with glass adjustment.
