Nice video. I get frustrated sometimes, when little tricks like Shift+R and Ctrl+R are mentioned really fast, but then I remember the frustration from long and boring tutorials from other channels when the frustration was even worse. Good pace, keeps me in tonus.
Haha yeah sorry, it's hard to find the right pace sometimes, it's truly an art form in itself, editing tutorial videos to keep it engaging and informative at the same time. Thanks for watching! I'm glad if there is a tip or two in there to help you along your way.
@@RussellMidfield Oh, yeah, definitely it was very helpful. Although my Pokemon looks more like a devil with fingers drawn by 3 years old, not as neat as yours :)
@@RussellMidfield I just finish the video and yes, it was really usefull . I try to make a character following your tutorial and i hope i could share it with everyone soon . Your vidéos are very well written and done and i cant wait to see the next part.
@@RussellMidfield For now , i am more at the blocking part but there is a Wip drive.google.com/file/d/1MVacw2SCVsDp3Jh__cQsiVuWRdt82ofH/view?usp=sharing Next update will be when i finish the sculpting :P
You did not mention how to mirror while in sculpting mode. I tried adding a mirror modifier in object mode but it only resulted in strange behaviour. I then found out you need to enable symmetry by first pressing tools (at the top of the toolbar where the modifiers are) and under symmetry enable "mirror X". You should first press numpad 1 before doing this.
Awesome tutorials! Wish it was finished XD but helpful so far! Btw at the part where "Getting Familiar with the Voxel Remesh Function" whenever I remesh my model, it gets over 10 million vertices and my Blender stops responding after that. Is there anyway to fix that?
Thanks Papi! Make the voxel size bigger, this will lower the number or vertices. So if you have a voxel size of 0.01 and it gives 10M vertices, try 0.02 or 0.03 and you should get less vertices.
Just a question, why do you use Clay Strip tool before flat something and do not flat it directly with flat tool? Maybe you commented on the video but cannot find it.
@@RussellMidfield I don't want to abuse... hahaha, but i'll ask you another question :D I want to put an "red scarf" on the nech of the character, like the cowboy bandits hehehe, Do you recommend sculpti in the same mesh or make a new mesh that can be putted on and of like real life?
When i press ctrl to invert the sculpting brush it just sets lasso select, found an ancient thread about it but no solution. Edit: When i set the mirror modifier on the top right bar to X it made it work.
The newest one available for download but like I said as soon as I matched your screen so at the top right of viewport I selected x axis where mirror modifier was showing it worked perfectly
Oh ok thats good! Oh right I recall 2.92 has sculpting symmetry off by default if I remember correctly. Might be the reason there is a slight difference now to my video since I'm still using 2.90.
I believe it's still on the side toolbar in 3.4.1, could be wrong though! The area that you're looking that has the box-lasso-line masks is not the spot where the mask painting option is. The mask painting option is a bit higher I believe, the icon is white and grey and has a paint brush, it's called just Mask in 3.1.2 at least. Let me know if that helps!
@@RussellMidfield I'm not sure how to explain it. I have screenshots if you maybe have an email or discord. But basically, if I do 0.2, it gets that pixelated look that you had mentioned earlier but gets it all over the body. If I do any lower, blender freezes. And any higher it gets sharp edges all over.
@Russell Midfield Nope :( looks the exact same. Should I just create my own loop cuts with the loop cut tool? I think that was the purpose of remesh right?
Be aware if some part all the sudden vanished you proably entered ALT+H. And if that doesn't work turn off other apps like Intel ARC. Took me 30 mins to figure that out. XD
Oh yes it seems in the newer versions of Blender, sculpting symmetry is not on by default I think. You're going to want to go to the Toolbar -> Tool -> Symmetry if that's the case. Sorry for the confusion!
