I have owned this portable blow-up paint booth for nearly 2 years waiting for this day! It worked perfectly and is the exact size I measured for the yard. We started painting the fenders and doors with just a little body work left. The engine is running great and I think the fuel pressure gauge is off. One thing: I am not sure about the paint code and will have to wait to compare it with another paint shop. #musclecar

Great to see that it's coming along nicely. It's great when you just get past that tipping point when everything picks up speed and it starts coming together quickly.

That is very true. Dee has been the spark that has re-ignited the garage.

I don’t remember, for sure, but I think the back windows on my ‘72 Mach that I had in high school back in 1978 were fixed without handles. I know the seal on the drivers side was bad and it took forever to get one in. I remember this because the heater core went bad in mine and we blocked it off leaving no heat and cold air rushing in around that missing seal made for a very cold ride. The upside my Mom got a new 1978 Camaro Type LT for Valentine’s Day and if it was very cold she would let me drive her car much to my Dad’s chagrin. The Mach 1 felt faster even though it was a 351-2V ( Ram Air) and the Camaro was a 350-4bbl (basically the same engine as the Z-28 without the dual resonators and 2-1/2 inch tailpipes) engine code LM1 but the Camaro had A/C, cruise, tilt, power windows and locks, and lots of sound insulation the Mach 1 did not have so I’m sure the Camaro weighed a few hundred pounds more and was saddled with a 2.41 axle ratio and automatic transmission. Never had chance to race them. My parents were a little too smart to let both cars leave at the same time or let someone else drive my car. Seat of the pants feel said the Mach 1 would have definitely won in an 1/8 mile and maybe held the Camaro off thru the 1/4 mile after that the Camaro would have sailed on past the Mach 1 because of 2.41 axle ratio and the 4bbl carb the Camaro definitely had more top end. I saw 130 mph more than once in the Camaro and at about 110-115 mph the Mach 1 sounded like the pistons were going to come thru the hood.

Interesting side note on those side windows that you painted, some cars came with a roll-down option.

I don't think these are Pedro. I've never seen the hardware for that with this windows.

Mark, Dee is awesome and I think will complete the job before Friday. It rained here last night and water got into the booth. I dried it out today but on another note, the paint has a heavy yellow tint to it but the code is correct. I'm not sure I like it so we may end of painting it a different shade of wimbledon white

@@MuscleCarMadnessGarage Richard, yeah sometimes that happens unless you use the exact same paint as Ford which is usually PPG, they tend to be a bit off. I’m sure Dee knows what he is doing and will whip you out a sweet paint job. But remember you can swatch the paint on a sample piece of metal to see how it dries, if your not happy take it back and have it tinted to your liking…

Glad to see the old Mach coming back to her former glory. It’s been a long ride but she’s in the home stretch. I gotta say after she was soda blasted I thought she was too far gone. I know I give my opinion too much but don’t paint the whole hood flat black. The inside of the hood should be a low gloss not flat black and the hood black inset was not a decals it was factory painted and buffed in and it was a low gloss but not flat black. I’ve seen them with the whole hood flat black and or argent(flat silver) and it is not the same as having the factory style inset color. Also if you have the ram air hood you should put the 351 Ram Air stencil on the scoops it really makes the whole muscle look come together. I am sure you can find the stencil somewhere on line or at one of the Mustang guru’s like CJ’s pony parts, etc. If you want even more black on the hood use the Boss 351 stencil then almost all of the hood will be black and should definitely have 351 Ram Air on the scoops. Remember it’s not flat paint it’s low gloss. You can’t wax or buff flat paint. Hell, you can barely wash it and it looks off. You’ll thank me when you see the result stenciling in the original hood accent and the 351 Ram Air on the the scoops in low gloss black. I still remember the minute I saw the 351 Ram Air on the hood of my 1972 Mach 1 and I was 16 years old. I am now almost 62 years old and I remember thinking that it would be my car by the end of the day and it was. I traded an almost brand new 1978 Mazda for it even and never regretted it. My parents regretted it but I didn’t.

Ford ‘s white was never as crisp as GM whites at least thru the 70’s and early 80’s. My Dad had new 1983 two-tone (blue/white) Bronco in the Garage next to my 1980 Pace Car T/A and we both noticed how much whiter the T/A’s paint was than the Bronco. The Bronco was brand new and my pace care probably had 50 coats of wax on it and had never spent a night or day out of the garage so I am pretty sure Fords white is just not as crisp at least in that era. On new cars now I haven’t really noticed a difference but in 1972 Ford white definitely was not as crisp.
