You’re definitely never too old to do whatever you want with your hair or body! I pierced my nose when I was almost 40. I’m 44 now and I’ve had crazy colored hair since I was 11. Currently it’s purple. I’ve never had anyone say it was ridiculous or that I’m too old. I get genuine compliments about it all the time though. 😊 It always makes me sad when friends say they wish they could do it, I always tell them YOU CAN! Just do it! As long as you don’t have a job that would fire you for unnatural colored hair, why not?😃 Life is too short to not go for it!

I have the fanola one and LOVE IT despite the one less star haha. The Joico is okay. But the fanola is superrrrr saturated with blue omg it looks almost black in your hand! Give it a try! I also find personally you get a better result if you apply to damp/ almost dry hair and let it sit for some time maybe 15 minutes under a cap! My hair was a yellow bleach blonde and after some patience and a few uses it's close to silvery platinum!

Hooray for trying the BLUE shampoo! I had recommended the Fanola No Orange, and after you run out of this one you may still want to try it. It is VERY PIGMENTED, and really gives great results, especially when used over time. I think this shampoo will work well too, the key is to use it several times, just using it every once in a while doesn’t work. Great job❤️

The rule of thumb with toning in general is to cancle out undertones. If you look at the color wheel the opposite of orange is blue and the opposite of yellow is purple. Your hair for ie in this video has a warmer undertone that looks orange when brazzy. Which is why the blue toning shampoo is more noticeable then the purple. So blue for orange brass and purple for yellow brass.

If you want it then you are never too old to have fun colored hair!!! I had hot pink hair from age 29 to almost 36 & I got compliments on it almost every time I left the house. It is a lot more maintenance though, that's why I don't still have the pink.

I think if you use the blue shampoo once or twice a week and a good conditioner, you will start to notice a difference. I lather up my hair, then wash all my other bits (face/body) then rinse out the shampoo (so it’s probably on my wet hair for 4 minutes). I do it regularly (purple - as I’m a cooler blonde) and it makes a difference. 👍 Good Stuff - you are quite entertaining 😉💕

Your awesome. I leave them both at the same time and I leave for 10 min. Sometimes I put coconut oil and then out that in as well and leave 20. You can also add peroxide and that will amp it up.

You've saved a lot of my time trying all of these color fixes. My hair's super brassy -- it's always skewed toward red. Today I'm using toner for the first time evah! But this shampoo looks so much easier that I'll likely try that when the toner doesn't work for me. Yes, I said 'when'. Because I'm a defeatist. Perhaps I'll be surprised!

If you have a Sally's near by, they'll help you find a good toner for your hair. The Wella Toners work very well on brassy hair.

Hey, Skippy! Hello from Arizona! Just wanted to recommend "Shimmer Lights" Shampoo and conditioner (sold at Walmart too). It looks like an indigo color. It tones many shades of brassy levels. It is not to expensive too, and you can even sleep in the conditioner as well. Take care, and thank you for your sharing on RU-vid. :-)

I use Joico. Girl... use half that bottle on your entire head... dry hair... put a plastic shower cap or tie a plastic bag or whatever. I use the shower caps from the Dollar Tree. So bag your soppy wet blue hair and wait 30 minutes. Then shower it all out. You will be amazed at the results! It will give you the prettiest natural highlights... light and bright blonde no brassiness. I love doing this in between salon appts

I wonder if applying the blue conditioner to damp hair would allow for more color correcting. Having myself and kids dampen our hair before swimming seems to have reduced a lot of the chlorine uptake into the hair shaft.

It's so refreshing to see someone on RU-vid not be controlled by what people say especially things like wearing a white top an not wearing gloves. It's your top it's not like you borrowed a subscribers top an will ruin it. I am sure your smart enough to not wear something you don't want to ruin. As for the gloves unless someone else's hands will be effected by you not wearing gloves why do they care? If you want to have Shrek hands that's your choice (joking) As for it being a lighter color on your hands I am sure that's because it's a thin layer an the color of our hands will change how the color looks, it's obviously a very deep blue or bright blue in the bottle or on your hand if you drop a blob into your palm. I've been using fanola blue, and it really does a good job. My hair was about the same color of yours. I've found that the fanola is super pigmented, and does a great job. The one you're using is just too light, and has green in it! Try fanola!

Early in my beauty career, while toning a blonde, my mentor shared this visual with me.... take a dry sponge and a moist sponge and wipe up water with them. The dry sponge resisted the water for a bit and soaked it up unevenly while the damp one picked it up in one swipe. Since then my colors have been even and more predictable :)

I started getting work on my tattoos around 38 and I will be 40 in August and I have a full sleeve and plan on getting more!! I was in a marriage where I was controlled for almost 15 years. We have a brand of shampoo here in Australia called Fudge. They make both purple and blue shampoos and the pigments in these shampoos are very strong and I’ve found they work better than any other brand I’ve used. I highly recommend the Fudge shampoos if you can go online and see if you can get your hands on some. Another thing, the Fudge blue shampoo doesn’t turn turquoise or green when you put it in your hair. It stays true to colour.

I am actually a cosmetology student and if your hair has brassy tones you have to cancel it out with blue toner or a blue shampoo. If you have more of a yellow tone then you cancel it out with purple.

Thanks Lou, I have similar blonde-hair-turned-brassy issues with my hair and I did't even know that blue shampoo existed. Do you think the blue shampoo would have a more intense effect if you used it regularly like once a week or something? Have a great weekend! Also, if you want rainbow coloured hair, I think you should go for it! I tried purple streaks in my hair when I was in my 30s. I did them myself with some purple dye I got at Sally's Beauty Supply. They were very temporary, they faded to pastel pink and then they completely washed out after a couple of washes, but it was so much fun to try! p.s. I will love your videos even if your hands are always blue and all your white shirts have purple splotches. ;)

I use the Fanola purple shampoo and if you use it too much, it will turn the blonde a violet color. So i use it about 1x a week.

ex-cosmo here. haai:p Joico is expensive for what i know it is which is quite simple tbh and doesnt cost that much, you're buying their brand name. i dye my hair midnight blue from punky color or mood of blue from Color X-Change. yes they are semi-permanent but stay w me here. i have a white streak in the front of my hair and when i wash and condition it bleeds and tones my blond and keeps the orange away for me. so i started mixing it with my deep conditioner and it works great, if not better! than those concentrate drops or any toning shampoo, it just has to be white. you do the same thing to pastelize the dye bc its concentrated, so when i want something like lilac then a true white on my highlights, i just mix it into my white conditioner.. just buy a violet or electric blue and mix it with your favorite white conditioner, should work the same.

If you want to change the color of your hair without further bleaching you need a toner then use blue or purple shampoo

Your personality and humor reminds me of me! And well I like it! My teens friends say I’m the cool mom, and I think cuz of my humor! Oh I sooo want to do some purple in my hair, um because I AM the cool mom!!! 50+ momma here! We should just do what we want and forget the judgments don’t ya think?? I make my own. Get the color you need in manic panic classic high voltage. So for light blond i buy ultraviolet. If someone was looking for blue then blue moon or rockabilly looks like it would be a good blue. I mix it in my conditioner. I'm using 1/2 a pea size dot of manic panic added to 1/4 a cup conditioner. I buy a bag of Popsicle sticks and tend to mix when i need it. You can get small containers to just keep in the shower. I feel most of the colored shampoo goes down the drain. You want a light blue or purple color once mixed. It keeps the hair bright and gorgeous.

Toner will actually work. It’s a Demi color that will actually deposit color. Colored shampoo is like painting glass with water color. Every 2 weeks hydrate and refresh your hair with an actual Deposit of color aka toner

Lou I can see the difference. Suggestion. Go to Walmart and get Jhirmack ,blue shampoo for a little over 5 bux. It works really well. I don't use purple shampoo coz I have alot of silver in my hair and sometimes it leaves a blue tint. Jhirmack doesn't leave anything but beautiful bouncy and non brassy hair. Hope this helps 😀

Jhirmack is a very good and under-appreciated option. And, it smells better and leaves hair softer than higher-end brands. Now, I need to get a bottle.

I am a brunetteand I use matrix envy which is a green shampoo to cancel out the red and I use the matrix brass off which is a bluish violet shampoo to cancel out the brassiness and orangey tone that I get to my hair

Can you believe there is also violet shampoo? I've tried Fanola and it's very drying, I've tried several others and they make my hair grayish. But, the purple shampoo from Bed Head (in Ulta) has violet tones in it and this one works really well at toning down brass and brightening your hair. You see results in one use, but better results in 2-3 washes.

Purple is great for hair bleach to pale yellow brass to get a light blonde or keep your platinum blonde bright. Blue is great for darker blonde to medium brown hair with orange brass.
