Hi Saxtus, Yes, you will set up MEATER Block through your phone to register for the Cloud and it will be able to transmit data when it is connected to the Internet. We're making good progress on the Block and continuously running tests to squash bugs, make tweaks, and improve the flow and user experience. DER MEATER Mal etwas, dass vielleicht einige interessieren dürfte. Ich hatte den Meater gestern zum ersten Mal im Einsatz und muss sagen, dass ich über alle Maßen enttäuscht bin. Ich habe Pulled Pork im KEG gemacht was dazu führt, dass Bluetooth nicht zu gebrauchen ist (Metall schirmt zu sehr ab). Okay, ich musste ja eh den wireless Link nutzen, damit ich schön ins Bettchen gehen konnte. Dazu hatte ich den Meater via BT mit einem iPod gekoppelt (ging fix), dann habe ich mein iPhone verbunden (ging auch fix). ABER! Ich hatte ständig Abrisse der Verbindung. Schaltete ich den Screen vom iPhone wieder an, war der Meater auch ruck zuck wieder da. Bis ich dann endlich (nach diversen Wutausbrüchen) merkte, dass das iPhone nicht in den Standbymodus gesetzt werden darf. Das heißt, ich musste mein Handy die Ganze Nacht anlassen, und aufs Gesicht legen, damit man schlafen konnte. Auch musste es ans Kabel, da ich vermutete, dass der Akku nicht über Nacht hält, wenn es auf Dauerbetrieb läuft. Das steht nirgends. Und wenn man es umgehen kann, was ich nicht glaube, steht das auch nirgends. Gut, wenn ich eine Stunde lang ein Rollbrätchen auf der Rotisserie habe, stört das nicht unbedingt, aber bei einem Longjob darf das nicht sein. Und genau dafür braucht man doch ein WLAN fähiges Thermometer. Zwei Stunden vor Schluss wurde dann auch keine Garraumtemperatur mehr angezeigt. Keine Ahnung warum. Das Leute, geht gar nicht und deswegen bekommt die, an sich nette, Idee auch nur zwei Sterne (bei amazon) von mir, obwohl es nur einen verdient hätte. Des weiteren stört mich die App , die ausschließlich (noch) in englischer Sprache ist. Also erstmal Finger weg. Da ist noch sofwaremäßig einiges zu tun.

Thanks for making this video. Just to clarify, am I able to put some meat on the Kamado and monitor it through the app from a friends house a couple of miles away? And which model would I need for that? Any help is appreciated.

Hello! Yes that is correct, a spare mobile device or tablet with a Bluetooth connection will be required to connect directly to the probe for the duration of the cook while you are away monitoring the cook from your personal phone. We recommend the MEATER+ or Block because they have a greater range of up to 165 ft! More information about this feature can be found at support.meater.com/faqs/meater-web

Hello Dave, To clarify, we are fulfilling the single unit MEATERs. Although we would love for you to receive your product sooner, the MEATER Block probes are configured slightly differently than the single unit probes. Additionally, you'll need the Block to charge the probes. - Apption Labs

Does the Meater work in a NEFF oven ? and does the app work on the S9?

If all Neff models come with a built in microwave combo, then no. The protective lining will prevent the Bluetooth signal from effectively escaping. If it's a regular conventional oven, then yes! Yes, the MEATER app will work with a Samsung S9.

Help I used the Meater on a roast. the base is right next to the stove and I keep getting connection lost on my android phone and I am 6 feet away from base. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Arturo! The MEATER Original/Plus ranges up to 33-165ft in open air however some appliances with thicker walls may decrease the range when you close the lid/door. I recommend setting up MEATER Link. The amazing part about it is that you can monitor your cook from anywhere! Question...My husband doesn't have an iPad or any other form of communication other than Apple cell phone and Pc. He wouldn't leave his cell phone outside as it would be useless to him. How far from the probe can the cell phone be carried?

The Bluetooth range varies depending on the cooker. For example, a thick-walled smoker may limit the Bluetooth range to within 10'. If he registers for a MEATER Cloud account (free), he would be able to send the cook from his phone to his PC via a URL link and would be able to monitor the cook from the computer. Another solution is MEATER+, our product that has a built-in Bluetooth repeater. He would leave the charger next to the cooker, then his phone would Bluetooth pair to the charger in an open air environment, reaching up to 165 feet depending on the surroundings.

i used my meater+ for the first time today, im cooking some ham in the oven, and im not sure whether its the dutch oven i put the ham into or the oven itself but i loose connection almost immediately, i mean 3 feet from the oven connection gets lost. is it a faulty one or is it the oven? what do you think?

Hello Marius, make sure your phone is pairing to the charger (has the "+" icon when pairing) and not the probe. Then leave your charger as close to the probe as possible by the oven door so you maintain Bluetooth connection. The Bluetooth connection between your phone and the charger should not be limited by the dutch oven.

If the probe is placed in a cast iron Dutch oven, will the signal transmit through the pot?

Hi Debbie! A cast iron dutch oven can act as a very good faraday cage, which can block the signal of the probes from escaping, meaning there will be a lost connection. This would be expected for any wireless probes.

I have the same problem. Just received the basic Meater for Christmas. It only works if I have the phone right next to the oven. Two steps away and it loses connection. the base being nearby doesn't do anything, seems like that is a meater + function. Cant use it for my grill either, too far. That would require this ridiculous Meater link function, leaving a phone or tablet outside by the grill.

The "Enable MEATER Link" option doesn't seem to be available anymore. I'm assuming that they removed the option to enable/disable it and have permanently enabled it by default now.

Hi Sean! In the MEATER app, tap the 3 dots in the upright corner the tap Settings. Scroll down to MEATER Link. Please note: you'll need to be connected to WiFi when you start the cook in order for MEATER Link to work. If you're connected to WiFi, please ensure your Local Network Access (iOS) is enabled or your Location Permissions and Services enabled (Android). We hope this helps!

@@MEATER Thanks. I figured it out once my unit arrived. Used it on a beef brisket that turned out EXCELLENT. Also, thanks to your device, I learned that the temperature on my Traeger Pro 780 is off. After wrapping my brisket, I set my Traeger to 250, but the ambient on the MEATER was reporting like 225. I ended having to finish the brisket in my oven because I had so much to put on the grill. Set my oven to 250 on convection and the MEATER reported right at 250 on ambient temperature. Looks like my Traeger is off by a lot, but I wouldn't have known thanks to the MEATER.

@@shalamigri That's awesome to hear that your brisket turned out awesome! The probe reads from a super small area around the meat and senses the cold air coming off the meat. So it's not that your Traeger is at the wrong temp, the MEATER is just pulling info from just near the meat and uses that to calculate the cook time. If you just did a dry run with the probe in the oven by itself, that makes sense that it would be right on the nose since there's no cold meat pulling the temp down. Hopefully that helps? @@MEATER "If you just did a dry run with the probe in the oven by itself, that makes sense that it would be right on the nose since there's no cold meat pulling the temp down. Hopefully that helps?" Not sure I follow that. After wrapping the brisket, I put it back on my Traeger @ 250 with the MEATER installed. The MEATER only saw an ambient temperature of 220 - 225. I ended up raising the grill temperature to 275 until the MEATER saw an ambient temperature of 250. I let it go like this for about 9 hours until the internal temperature of the brisket got to about 192. At this point, I had to take the brisket off the Traeger and finish it in the oven because I needed the Traeger for other stuff I had to grill for Memorial Day. Once I put the brisket in the oven @ 250 on convection, I noticed that the MEATER was now reading 250 ambient temperature. Just a guess, but I think that the Traeger's temperature sensor is located in a hot zone and is not in line with the temperature directly over the heat shield. Not 100% of this yet, but I'm going to run a test to see if this is the case.

Works fine for those with a cell phone, some people are disabled and can't leave there house ... soooo no need for a cell phone. Would have been nice if they thought about this and made it work with a PC. I use another device, it has wires, however I can be in the den and watch my roast cook on my PC. I actually wrote Maeter and they responded quickly and they had to admit that this device does not work for people with no cell phone.

If you have a MEATER Plus or MEATER Block, you'll want to sit that charger next to the smoker for strongest connection from Probe to charger. If it's raining, you can protect your charger by putting it in a Ziplok or Tupperware container. The signal will emit through the plastic and keep your charger nice and dry.

After enabling MEATER Link, the test of how far away you're going from the office building has nothing to do with the capability of the MEATER thermometer. That's entirely dependent on your wifi coverage. Otherwise, I wish more of your users watched this video, as nearly all of the complaints I've seen about this are due to, what seems to be, a fundamental misunderstanding of Bluetooth's capabilities.

Hi David, by default Cloud is on, but you'll need to register your account first. In order to use the Cloud, you'll need a second device - the first one maintains the Bluetooth connection to the probe (or charger if it's MEATER+), then you'll be able to monitor the cook with the second device anywhere you have internet connectivity.

1 min in this guy is 30+ meters away from the probe and still getting bluetooth signal. I used mine for the first time the other day and couldn't get 10 FEET away w/o loosing bluetooth signal. Had to commandeer my wife's phone for the rest of the day to set up "MEATer Link". And even doing that was an extremely painful process! This product is a great idea. But they sure as hell haven't refined it as much as they should have before launching the product to consumers.

Hello Matthew, the Bluetooth range will vary depending on the cooker you're using. Thick-walled grills and smokers will limit the range. In addition to MEATER Link and Cloud, you can also use "Cook Share" and monitor your cook even on your computer. Just click the share icon in the middle of your cook, and you can send a URL via e-mail, text, or copy.

Hi Scott, because the Bluetooth range is affected by many factors and obstacles, we demo'ed MEATER Link/Cloud in this video to extend the wireless range farther. The free built-in feature will allow you to monitor your cooks within your WiFi network with MEATER Link and anywhere you have internet connectivity with MEATER Cloud.

Bluetooth is very short.... just like your said. I have an old phone that I am using as a wifi link. That seemed to work pretty good but I have only used this once so far.

I am looking for something just like this so when I do a pig roast so I don't have to open the roaster to check the temp. I see that it has a charger. what happens when the battery dies in the thermometer, can you replace the battery or do you need to buy another thermometer? we all know batteries don't last forever

This thing is so disappointing! I lose connection all the time. I use a seperate device to bridge over WIFI and it still loses connection. Too bad. Nice idea but save you're money and buy a wired one. Poor customer service also.

Hi Casey, after removing the plastic battery tab in the back, let the probe charge for 4+ hours. Have you considered leaving your smart device in something like Tupperware or Glad Food Storage containers? The signal gets through them very well and your smart device will be protected from the elements!

Bluetooth doesn't have long range at all, it gets disconnected 5-6 feet away. you have to have two devices in order to use WiFi, which really sucks. they should do away with Bluetooth and just use wifi.

Hello Diallo! You might be referring to MEATER+ or MEATER Block, where the probe Bluetooth pairs to the charger/block. In this video, we're using original MEATER and the probe Bluetooth pairs directly to your phone/tablet.

it would be nice if you made it better. barely connects even when they are side by side. dont even think about leaving the house, disconnects. how can you possible charge so much for such trash? bad connection, piss poor wifi ability, pathetic cloud connection and now internal battery. no shock i dont know anyone else with one of these. shocking.

@@MEATER Thanks for the relpy, that's good that R&D is working on it but this is going to cost another $100, I hope you'll give us free upgrade or discount, because present unit is useless if you are inside the room, another word it's a waste of money
