Looking good finally starting too see the progress on the 325i. I completed all my welding two months ago it’s time consuming and probably the worst part for a resto. Keep up the great work as normal.

I’ve got a 1st gen E36 that I’ve been working on here and there for years now. It’s so much work, but every time I feel discouraged, I think about this channel.
I mean no harm in asking - but we’re there ever moments you just thought you picked the wrong car? I just can’t imagine the level of money and commitment you’ve put into such a project. Perhaps it’s the number of items that had to be outright replaced. Not questioning the reasoning at all, but it feels like “There goes the leg, and the arm, etc.” when watching this. I guess I’m not good at compliments. 😂
Bro you need to vaccinate the car , all the work you did for the rust and still has plenty. But I am glad you on top of it.More great content. If the car would look like on the foto will be worth it. Wow... My '89 e30 has only a very slight amount of surface rust in the battery tray (convertible). UK cars must go through hell to get that rusty. Western USA has dry non rusted originals. My '73 2002 doesn't have near the rust of this poor e30. Glad you are saving your special car. 👍 Thank You for the excellent videos!
It'll be my patchwork quilt though, not some other car with my bits on it. I'm restoring this car haha. A new chassis is not cheap. This work is much cheaper so it is worth it for sure.
Try to get rust free one from Nevada or Arizona, with shot paint, a gazillion miles on it and a crapped out engine in it for the body and a rusted out UK one with low milage and frankenstein them together.

Where i live in Australia cars rust from the top down instead, you see cars all the time with massive rust holes in the roof, boot area and corners below the windscreen yet they will be absolutely mint underneath with no rust at all (except 4wds that typically get driven on the beach). I assume its because we don't have salt or snow on the roads but most poeple live within 10km or so of the beach so the breeze will carry the salt mist and then settle on cars with the morning dew.
When you're free on Covid time so you rather welding everything from rusty than buying good used one. I can sure that it not the car anymore, even when you complete your work well

I've been watching the entire series, trying to build the courage to tear down my 325is I've owned for 18 years. The deeper you go the more scared I get with how much rust shows up. Was this car in particularly bad shape to start, or can I expect similar rust hidden deep in mine?
E30s are bad but newer ones are worse. Ive seen e36s where you can kick against the door and your foot will come out on the other side of the car or the floor.

My heart started bleeding and crying for you as the panels came off and the rust revealed itself. All I could think of is all that work that you've put in so far and now all this added time and expense! Yikes!
Mate, best descision to give that body in professional hands, if you want to drive it in your lifetime again... It looks like you had it parking on the bottom of the English Channel after the first blasting and before the move to Spain :-o Only thing that makes me worry is the missing temporary stabilizer, spotwelded between the B-pillars to keep it straight when there´s so much structural parts removed... Thx fo showing! :-D
ok..youve spent alot of time by citting and weldering the rusted sheets in the chasi..why you dont make the other choice ...replacing the whole part of the rusted iteme? any way.. I apriciated your nice work and I watched and interested and had got alot benifet from your way in restoration.. The problem is, you will drive it on salty, snowy roads again. So the car will end up wrecked again. Pretty depressing, after seeing all that great work, I mean. (from Australia).
I had an E30. The outside of the back end looked worse than yours, so I dread to think what it was hiding! Please tell me you're going to galvanise that body before it gets painted! Thank God my Audi 80 is galvanised, 26yrs old amd virtually, and I really mean virtually, no rust at all. Just surface rust on some suspension components but the body is solid as a rock. Just needs a respray.

This model is a legend and this project is incredible for sure but.. does it worth it? Too much money and effort.. Just too curiοus and impatient to see the end of the project !
Isn't that the case with most classic cars? You buy them in so so condition, often for more money than the price when they were new. A good restoration can easily exceed that by a factor of 3, so in the end, you have a fully restored classic car that has cost at least 4 times more... Hobbies are expensive.
Not sure whether replacing the chassis piece by piece welding everything together is better than looking for another chassis. I wouldn't feel safe driving such a puzzle-car.
