lol i also forgot the clip on my small 168 diff when it was all assembled =D wasnt as easy to get in though... Another thing to check is that the small belleville washers which support the gear that the drive-flanges go in have enough space and are not binding.

When i made my diff my mechanic removed the conical disks one from up and one down and fitted the 4 directly. Works perfect for 3 years now. I added a limited slip product used in offroad diffs(not mentioned by my mechanic just by myself) and the first 100 miles it drove like a welded and the worked perfect after i broke the new disks in
@pazi88
@pazi88 5 лет назад
Yeah after that modification it will LSD without preload. Which is fine for most use. It doesn't work in very slippery conditions, because it needs to have some traction on both tires.

@@pazi88 Hello pazzi did you still have the very cheap LSD that works on springs?? I think you mentioned that it stopped locking after a while. I think that the springs kinda relax after some time and lose tension. So I wanted to suggest you put some shims under each spring and then reinstall. if you want 100% lock I would try any shim preferably thick one but if you want to tune a certain percentage of lock you have to do your testing. but anyway I believe that any random shims will make it work again.
@pazi88
@pazi88 11 месяцев назад
@@FirstLast-tx3yj It's based on springs and also same kind of rotating action as drives normal clutch type lsd's. The springs are fine. It's just that the friction discs did wear out to metal... That might not happen during summer, but I had this in my winter beater and during winter the LSD is needed constantly.

Always great content wish you the best!! According to your experience how does 10:1 compression turbo FEEL vs 8.5:1 compression? Its a daily driver and i dont have the chance to try both i can only choose one.
@pazi88
@pazi88 5 лет назад
Well it's huge difference :D The 10:1 feels as lively as any NA engine off boost, and of course much faster on boost. Not like 8:1 cr engines that feel like dead fish when off boost.

Hey Pazi, you are sadly not the only one having trouble with racing diff "high precise standards with tolerances of +-0.02mm." I rebuilt 3 of the 188mm, some in 4 pair and one with 3 pairs, cap was machined by my own, but the disk stack for friction + dog ear was 16.8mm instead of 16 flat. As you can guess these 0.8mm in the diff makes a whole world of difference. The conical washer they sell also are absolutely not matching the original ones. they were 5.5mm tall 2.5 thick istead of 4 tall 2.5 thick. once again you end up with about 250Nm of preload wich is ridiculous. To sum up, if you have the choice, run away from racing diffs parts.
@pazi88
@pazi88 5 лет назад
Well I have already tried quite many aftermarket lsd parts and so far racing diffs stuff has been way better than other stuff. And it's good that they even make all the spare parts for these lsd units, because for some time ago, you couldn't get that stuff anywhere. And about those spring washers or what those are really called even, the racing diffs site says that they are stiffer than stock, so I would assume that those are thicker too. I would just hope that they don't claim that the 4clutch sets fit without modifications, because clearly they don't.
@dx4picco650
@dx4picco650 5 лет назад
@@pazi88 I never delt with other brands. That must have been terrible with others haha. They clain thr stiffness from the material, I clearly asked them and the answer was same size as factory.

Hi i have just watch this video and check my lsd. I have 3.15 188 lsd with 3 clutch upgrade by removing the 4mm washer. I measured the space left with both concave rings removed = 17mm. The 2 concave washers = 5mm and cap = 14.2mm. So 17-19.2 = -2.2mm. The parts don't fit. Do you have any idea why this would be?
@pazi88
@pazi88 3 года назад
Hi! I did measure mine with 3 clutch upgrade. 14.7mm on the cap, 4mm the 2 concave washers and 19.14mm of space. So 0.44mm of clearance, which is really good. The 17mm space seems a bit little. But if that is the case, you need to machine down the cap like 2.5mm

Hi. You said you would let us know if this more aggresive diff would "give more traction and better handling" .. What is your opinion regarding this ? (very interested, as I'm looking to do a diff upgrade as well..)
@pazi88
@pazi88 4 года назад
Yeah I kinda forget to mention about the diff in latest videos. I may need to do separate video about that. But for drag racing and drifting the aggressive diff has made the car lot better. Maybe not like more traction, but the cars behavior is always constant and lot more predictable. When leaving the line in drag racing, the car doesn't wander anymore and goes like it's on tracks. Also on drifting it doesn't anymore wander everywhere but acts constantly same way which makes drifting easier. But then for time attack for example the diff is way too aggressive. At least for the tire setup I have. The outer tire want's to start slipping even from the smallest amount off throttle during cornering. Which forces to drive slower or the car is in constant slide all the time when cornering. Which heats up and eats the tires really quick. And also isn't the fastest way to go.

@jeroenm5280 4 года назад
@@pazi88 Well sh*t, I was looking at a 65% lock, 3 clutch pack solution for track use.. Guess I'll need to rethink this after reading your experience. You drive on semi slicks right ?

@@jeroenm5280 Yeah. I would just just refurbish the stock diff with new clutches and dog plates for that use.
