How to convert E46 BMW mechanical clutch/front fan to a fully electric fan. Frees up engine from additional drag and makes the experience quiet. Best $100 mod for the E46 hands down. Link for $100 electric fan (Amazon) : www.amazon.com...
@@VertedSoles tbh naaa I didn't , I was suppose to test that joint and see if it even powers up but got lazy or flooded with another task. Sorry bout that but if you have any other questions I pretty much got mines running pretty decent afer chasing those air leaks
@@sillybillyillie i tried this mod too, when i think about it now the e-fan propably only works when you turn on the ac. Since it didnt work for me aswell i put the visco back in which i think is also broken at this point cuz that pos keeps getting too hot even with a new waterpump and thermostat
You have to adjust the thermostat to open on 85c coz the original will open on 95c and the wiring you are useing for the fan from the fan of the AC so will not work only if the engine 95c
Hi there, I enjoyed watching your video and you explained things quite nicely but unfortunately the one thing that most of us needed to get out of your video, we weren't able to. You didn't show the work being done. You skipped the most important part which was to show us how to do it.
I need to do it, in summer when it gets hot, my 525td loose power (because of the fan) and even if the engine is clearly not the most quiet in the world the only thing i heard is that damn fan who turn for his life☠
DON'T DO IT, IT MAY COST YOU AN ENGINE! I did the electric fan swap on my 2005 BMW 330ci about a year ago. The dealer replaced the original water pump and thermostat, as preventive maintenance, with the only one they could find at the time which was a German made MEYLE with metal blades, but it only lasted 15 thousand miles. The bearings went out in it and since I couldn't find the plastic OEM due to the pandemic, someone suggested that I do the swap. So I bought what was suggested to be the best from fcpeuro and it worked well, I even gained a few horse power. But it only lasted until last week when my daughter borrowed my car to go out of town from where she called and said that the AC went out first and then the engine had overheated! I had it towed and the first thing I noticed was the positive wire from the fan burned out to bare wires showing... the fan was out!
Amazon brother, here’s a link to one for $91: PartsFlow Electric Radiator Fan Automotive For 1999-2005 BMW 325Ci/325i/325xi/330Ci/330i/330xi/323Ci/323i/328Ci/328i/323is/328is 17117510617 a.co/d/i7AzLPO I paid $105 for mine with shipping, tax, etc. I’ll include it in the description as well.
Never had any overheating issues with or without AC on. 2005-2006 E46’s come like this from factory with just the electric fan, BMW ditched the mechanical fan after those years.
@@user-bu1ir3us7v the fan is controlled by a built in controller (the silver box on the electric fan housing) it will stay on as long as the engine is running
