BMW E90 320d Turbo Replacement - this will work for the e46 320d as well as the e90 Pre LCI (2005-2007) have the M47 from the E46 320d. 2008 Pre LCI has the N47 which has a different turbo with different removal and installation methods

did your turbo have a seal where it meets the catalytic converter ? Mine did not , I thought I might have lost it , ordered a new one but the car si leaking exhaust gas from there .

There's no gasket or seal on my downpipe, just straight metal and v-band clamp🙏🏽

Hi do you have to adjust a new actuy? Or is it self adjusting? Basically my turbo is blown and thinking replace it with a recon do i need worry about the actuator set up?

If you're purchasing a new turbo with the actuator then no you won't need to adjust it however in this case since its a recon, you will need to have the adjustment set. The actuator is a fixed adjustment that controls the vanes in the turbo. If set incorrectly, it can result in improper boosting (either only low boost, only high boost, or incorrect spooling of the turbo) You can have it set manually however it does require a fair amount of on road testing to get it right, disconnect the power to the actuator, then have the main shaft completely backed off and pushed down, then rotate until locked, then back off a few turns and lock it down with the 10mm nut... Its quite tricky and should be done by a professional to ensure it is done correctly, i just so happen to have had to learn to set the turbo without any testers or machinery

Yes that's correct... There may be some variation in terms of engine cover removal and what not but the removal is the same... As long as it's an M47 engine, its the same process 👌🏽

Hi im having a issue with my 320d turbo is fine but the actuator is not opening im in durban do you know where i can buy a new actuator or is it worth it to recon my 1

If the actuator is completely dead, then you will need to buy a new turbo since the actuator isn't sold separately... However if the actuator receives electrical signals, which means it's working, then yes it can be reconditioned. I've done it on my car myself and it hasn't given issues at all.

I did the turbo not to long ago but what I notice at random times the car use to stall and then there use to be a outburst but now it's gone completely I'm getting no compression when in gear

What I'd recommend is trying to move the actuator by hand, if it doesn't move then most likely the actuator is damaged or the vanes in the turbo are seized

Short answer : Yes Long Answer: What's your goal and what are you hoping to gain out of it? Is it worth the money to boost the car? Wouldn't it be faster and more feesible to buy a turbocharged car?

Goal is to just make it run smooth. It is my little project got the car for R40k in Rands with 198k kilos on the clock. I just want to have a good sounding bmw

To be honest, you're going to have to do a lot of upgrades to the motor to be able to handle boost, as well as upgrades to the fuel system, then you have the modifications to the induction and more, then you have to go with a standalone ECU to be able to tune the car. With upgrades to the crank, low compression pistons and rods, boost pipes, the turbo itself and exhaust, intercooler and fueling, everything done properly, youre looking at well over the R60k range, thats even if you can find parts. your best bet is to have the motor running properly, have the car driving as it should because just throwing a turbo into an engine that wasn't designed for it, isnt going to be cheap and fully built turbo build isnt going to be a smooth drive as a daily
