BMW E90 Malfunctioning Power Folding Mirror Problem Fix For Free !!! 

i kno its 2019, but i cant thank you enough for this video. keep making videos like this. i got mad respect for you.

Before cutting the wires, I would use WD40. Take off the cover. Move the mirror forward and backwards and you will an empty slot in the rotating mechanism. Spray lubricant into that slot from several different angles. With the mirror facing forward, folded, and in its home position. This fixed it for me.

Just bought my 06 E90 4 month's ago and started having issues with the driver side mirror. Thank you so much for this video. I cut the wires on both sides of mirrors and no more issues also the mirror still function without any errors. Thank you once again.

I just did this on a 2006 330XI sedan it took just a few minutes and absolutely solves the problem. PERFECT!! Later if you decided you wanted have the folding feature restored,the wire you cut is part of the new mirror. Passenger side mirror is unaffected by cutting the wire

That worked! I was tired of this nonsense and now, disabling this is the best mod I have done to my car!

Awesome, thanks for making this movie 4 years ago. I was about to just pull the fuse but that would have made it so I couldn't adjust the mirror angle. This is a much better solution!

Thank you for this fix man! i live in nh and really couldnt care less about the posh power folding function. My passenger mirror is stuck in the folded out position every time i turn on the car. If i need to fold it i can do it with my hand.

The 20mph did not work. I took off both mirror covers, clipped the white ones, aligned each mirror by hand. Used the control to adjust each. Done in 5 minutes. Did not break the clips. The haunted mirror thing drove me crazy for 2 days. Thank you for the video.

Cutting wires is never the correct way. There are a few tutorials on how to fix the latching mechanism. If you want to disable it, take the mirror plug out and remove the corresponding pin, and/or code the function out, or unplug the wire from the door switch.

Likely you can code it off, just connect the car to computer.

Hey Nathan, For anyone that ever breaks the clips on the mirror cover you can use 3M black butyl tape… It comes in a big flat box is about 25 bucks and it'll last you forever. It's also the same material that you can use for the leaking door panels. Just my two cents because I've been there… LOL Good job by the way. 😎🇩🇪🚙

JUST FIXED THIS DIFFERENT WAY!!!! JUST SPRAYED A LOT OF WD40 UNDER THE ROTATING PART OF THE MIRROR. Remove plastic cower, then just pull whole mirror up (or bend it to the side) so there's a thin space under the rotating mechanism between the mirror and car holder. (Buy small 100ml WD40 with thin pipe, so you can squeeze it deeper into that 1mm space what you will have when pulling mirror up or bending it to the side. Note! You can pull or bend it just slightly, just few millimeters). Spray WD40 into that space aiming to the area, where this stuck thing is located (that thing with spring, what this guy in video oiling in the end), keep removing excessive WD40 with paper towel. Rotate left right, shake a bit the whole mirror, not too much, don't damage anything, then repeat. After a while (in 5 minutes or may be 1 hour) oxidation on the lock will be gone, the mechanism will get unlocked and working again. No need to damage the mirror. Then just put plastic cower back.

mines messed up were it kinda doesn't lock in place which causes the same issue as described in the video think ill take it apart one day & fix it

So is the other wire for the auto dim?

there is a way to disable without cutting the wire. my e90 passenger side kicks back too far but not by much. It will still fold in and out if I hit the button, but they don't move in when I park or drive off. it was like this when I bought it, not sure how the previous owner did it but it is possible to disable auto folding without cutting the wire. this way you can still use the function if you ever need to, just have to manually put it back in place.

Will this work on the e60 model

With the cover off simply lubricate the pin assembly. No need to cut wires and ruin your mirrors. Factory lubricant degrades over time. If the motor is good a little lubricant fixes the mirrors not folding properly

My N54 engine isn't working right. Any cable I should cut for that?

Just use WD-40, where the pin is and wiggle it a few times even giving a whack (gentle) and 100% working, the pin is just stuck because the tube dried up from lack of use

Those aren't wire snips. Those are for pulling nails, or for that size probably brads. See how they're rounded? It's so you can "roll" the nail out.

THIS IS NOT A FIX!!! And the irony is that the actual fix is right next to it. Just gotta free up the stuck switch that is on the other side of the hinge. What a fail...

How is this a fix? You disabled it, a fix would be doing something that would make it work properly again.
