the ball busters you refer to are for track use. You can take the carbon piece off and attach your belt through the top and bottom of your seat

Great video! Thanks for walking us through it. I have a G83 M4 convertible with these seats. One thing I realized with this car after 15k km is that the driving position is canted in towards the center of the car. That’s why you can’t reach the dead pedal! Once I realized this the numbness in my left shoulder went away 😂

From what I've read the ball-supports in the middle of the seat is actually there for a 5-point harness, not wow-factor. I do think they look great regardless of their purpose, though!

Thanks for the in-depth review. Looking to daily the g80 long term, so I will probably go with the standard seats for comfort and practicality for daily driving. If only there was a standard seat with carbon seatback upgrade that would be ideal haha

Good vid and wil be a big help to those with M's still on order. I have to agree. I'm 5'10"/42 jacket and I'm in the seat just right. Any larger frame might be a problem. I think the center "buster" was really part of the design idea for a race harness, but I could be wrong. Main deal is that the CF is the total aesthetic needed for the interior. The standard seats are bulky looking for the interior size, but still nicely designed. Also have the Kylami Orange.I recommend bolster protectors to help prevent dye transferring from your clothing (you can toss and replace them for about 2 Benjamin's) and use a good sealant to help with cleaning the seats. I grab the left side of the wheel with my right hand and use my left arm applied against the b-pillar to get out. Still sort of a pain unless you can open the door fully to swing out your legs. Main thing for me other than the aesthetics is that when you hit the fast pedal you get sucked into the seat and you're not moving anywhere.

Don't have this car nor do I have plans on getting one, but I really like your way of explaining and how you put things into perspective in ways that make total sense in the real-world. Awesome job.

I have lived with the carbon bucket seats for 2 1/2 years now. I think they are super comnfortable and will spec them again when my lease is up next year. I'm only 5'10 172 so I fit nicely.

First of all, great video! My 2024 g80 is in build status 112 right now, this video helped me make my decision. I am going with the regular seats so I can get cooled option as well. If these had cooled option I would be all in and just switch to black from kyalami orange.

I keep going back and forth with this car. I still have my QV and I have a current allocation on a G80 M3 build. I have sat in the carbons before. I'm 5'11" and weigh 180 and a 43" chest. I would be all in on the seats in my 20s. I agree with you on ingress and egress with the thigh bolster. I found the seats to be too restrictive for my build as a daily. However, I am still debating about adding the seats for resale and aesthetics. On the other hand, I could skip the carbon buckets and go with and individual color. Thanks for the vid!

thanks for this review. as someone thats 5'11, 220 lbs, and into bodybuilding, i'm glad I saw this. I definitely would not fit in this , or it would fit very tight and be extremely uncomfortable. its a bummer that I can't get the carbon pieces without this seat being included.

The nut buster is removable .. that’s where the harness attaches too it’s an anchoring point

I am pretty sure the notch on the seats is for a 5 point harness. Not just for show.

Bmw should do it like Porsche. Their bucket seats come in three sizes (s,m,l). Or for the price you can have a custom sized one.

Ordered my M2 with these seats. Haven’t had a chance to try sitting in them yet. Wish me luck 💀

6’1 240 lbs with 55 inch jacket size😅, gonna have to go for the non buckets if I get one these unfortunately.

The best advice I ever heard was to only get the bucket seats if you plan on going on a track. If you'll daily the car especially as your only car, Bad Idea. The sport seats are enough if you're not driving the car at its limits.

I barely use my m4 and my buckets are already showing some wear how difficult is to change to the non bucket?

Buckets are 22lbs lighter per official BMW videos when the G8x was launched, small savings.

Im 1.83m and ~110kg and I It fits awesome. So take them even if you are fat 😂
