Nice and helpful video however the music was quite annoying in my opinion, sorry to say. Nevertheless, thank you for the video and all the best.

Important to remind new DIYers to chuck the front and back of the front wheels before releasing the E-Brake and lifting the rear end. Remember to open the brake fluid reservoir and keep an eye on it as you compress the cylinder so it doesn't overflow. Lastly, check that you don't have too much in the reservoir when you done with the job.

What do you mean by chuck the front and back of the front wheels? Looking at doing this job this weekend
@Neospartacus12
@Neospartacus12 Месяц назад
@@danielbetancourt2057 he means put something in front and behind each front wheel to prevent them from rolling. You can use a "chuck", 2x4 wood or even bricks. Anything that can prevent the wheel from rolling.

how many miles were on it when you changed the brakes and how long do they last? How often does the check engine light come on and how reliable / care free has the f15 been for you? Thinking about picking up a 35i with about 80,000km on it.

Thanks for sharing. It’s not true that you have to replace the brake pad wear sensor with new and it’s not true that it measures the mileage. On some cars there is a service counter for brakes which can be reset, but not all cars have this and it’s not the pad wear sensor that controls this. The pad wear sensor is merely a circuit, think of it as a switch, which is only made when the plastic is worn down by the disc and metal then touches metal. This is what brings on the pad warning light. If the sensor is intact, no need to replace with new!
@FredCarney
@FredCarney Месяц назад
Under what circumstance does the sensor need replacing? When the metal clip has been damaged?
@Ally.MacMillan
@Ally.MacMillan Месяц назад
@@FredCarney I’m not sure which metal clip you are referring to. The sensor needs to be replaced if it has triggered the warning light. This is only activated when the plastic bump has been worn down enough to expose the wire inside it, when the wire touches the disc and is eventually broken, thus causing an open circuit which brings on the pad warning light. Like I say, some cars have the option to reset a service indicator for pads, by all means reset that once you have replaced the pads, if your car has that function.
@FredCarney

@@Ally.MacMillan Got it. The alarm is not triggered unless the plastic has worn away. If you put that sensor back in place the alarm would immediately come back on. I suppose you could leave the sensor uninstalled. Thanks for the reply.

@allymacmillan7986 - sensor also has wear life and as sensor starts to wear the mileage will go down to 0. Sensor should be replaced with each brake job, best practice. Putting in new pads and old sensor or no sensor would have to get annoying with all message on Idrive and instrument cluster as well.
@Ally.MacMillan

@@SheziMotorsport I have to disagree with you on this one. There is only a wire loop inside there which triggers the light when it’s broken by contacting the disc, through worn pads.

Hi I noticed you have rear air suspension. By chance do you happen to have comfort seats and experience 2nd row seat vibration?
@SheziMotorsport
@SheziMotorsport 2 года назад
@bigfwop L - I don't have comfort seats so I can't comment on it, just have multi contour seats up front. Maybe rear seats have massaging as part of comfort seat package that might be broken or no?

nice video, How did you release the parking break? I have the same setup and the discs were held by the parking break so I basically couldn't remove.
@SheziMotorsport
@SheziMotorsport 2 года назад
@ribble1997 - you should not have to release parking brake, but it sounds like in your case you need to shrink the parking brake so rotor can come off. Rotate ur rotor and line up the bolt hole to the parking brake wheel should be under the area of pads. Turn it clockwise ( can't recall clockwise or counterclockwise so verify online) which will shrink the drum brake and than tap on rotor.
@SheziMotorsport
@SheziMotorsport 2 года назад
@ribble1997 - look around 6:45-7:20 minute mark and see how drum brakes are exposed and wheel hub as lug nut holes. Have to align the whole with drum brake adjuster and use flat ahead to turn the lever clockwise.. remember how man turns you do because you have to do the opposite turns after to ensure ur parking brake. Let me know if you have any questions

@Castro - no nothing had to be done, just remove rotor and pads and replace them.

my car has an electronic e brake, does it still have drum brakes for the parking brake?
@SheziMotorsport
@SheziMotorsport 6 месяцев назад
@marceloeguino - it depends what year and series you have but if I have to take a guess you don't have rear drum brakes.

Some videos say the screws on the caliper are a one time use only, is that correct?
@SheziMotorsport
@SheziMotorsport 5 месяцев назад
@poundermonster - that's correct, Germans are big on replacing screws and technically you should so one isn't reusing stripped or missthreaded screw. If ur screw is good you can reuse just don't over tighten
